This has probably been mentioned before. I just can't believe that with Ed Ashby giving every possible parameter of what a broadhead should be, and Grizzlies in short supply, that multiple broadhead companies or knife makers or someone hasn't jumped all over this and come out with an "Ashby-style" broadhead. Has anyone heard of any plans or is thinking of trying the venture themselves. I have read on this site several times about how small and limited the Grizzly manufacturing is. Is anyone else worried that this huge demand for Grizzlies cause a drop in quality?

those have aluminum ferrules, why and why are these new ones like the no mercy not offered in a asortment of weights. i have yet to find one with the left bevel that fits my setup, i hope the stos will, i really like them and if they make a 160 and 175 my setups are complete.
has anyone heard when Grizzley will have some left bevels available?
I've been hoping I'll be able to hunt with them next fall.

I would guess the laws of supply and demand are at work. It may be a fine idea, but if the potential market sector is not worth a manufacturers time...
Maybe the broad based demand just is not there. Some of the best ideas in the world never come to fruition because there is no profit in it.
But isn't Stos coming out with an Ashby style broadhead? I believe they have decided to do it but Magnus makes their heads so it will take some time.
For every opinion Ashby offers there are a hundred that differ. A fella could go broke trying to manufacture and market every broadhead design everyone came up with :-)

I was thinking along the same lines. Also, what's "hot" and "in" today may be tomorrow's dust collector. Just in the last ten years alone, I could probably name a half dozen broadheads people have flocked to, then moved on to something else the next year.
Not that it's a bad thing. A lot of good ideas and designs have come out of chasing tends. But it can get pretty expensive rolling the dice on your product ending up more than just a flash in the pan.

Dino, that's a good point. I'd forgotten about that. The ferrule dies belong to Magnus. Roger Rothaar told me figure $100k for that die if we wanted to have our own.
Has anyone tried the Steelforce traditional BH that Matt mentions above? If so, where can it be purchased?
I spoke to Nick Giannetti from Steelforce yesterday and the ferrules on the new Steelforce single bevels will be made from steel not aluminum. The heads will be true 3:1 design with .050 thick titanium blades. Nick says they will weigh right at 200 gr. He also mentioned a larger model that will weight closer to 300 gr.
Nick says it will be a month or so before the new heads are available. He's sending me a few as soon as they're ready so, I'll post a thread when I get them.
I am aware of at least two more broadheads that will be coming out in the next couple months that are designed with Ed's specs in mind. Not sure of the specifics on these though.

How difficult is titanium to sharpen? Can it easily be done with the KME set up I own?

I hadn't seen this thread when I talked to Nick, and I may have posted incorrect info above. Sorry.
Thinking back to the conversation, I'm sure that the ferrules will be steel but, I think he may have said only the jumbo size will use the titanium blade and the smaller, 200 gr. heads will have steel blades. I'll find out for sure this week and correct any errors.
Anyway, titanium sharpens faily easily. I use a little extra oil because titanium can clog the stones like aluminum does. Other than that, I've never encountered any problems sharping titanium heads.
Steelforce is second only to Silverflame as far as out of the pack sharpness goes though. So I doubt that sharpening either of these heads would be much of an issue. Either the knife sharpener or the broadhead sharpener will do the job just fine.

I just clicked on the Steelforce link. If it came in 125gr, I'd buy some right now. True 3-1 seems hard to find. I've heard that 145's would be too heavy for my 40lb pull. Do you concur
