Title: Limb design...
Post by: Shredd on July 29, 2020, 11:24:39 PM
What do you recurve guys think of this limb design??  I think it's kinda cool looking but I wonder how well it would work...  I would like to see a full draw pic of it...  Came across in bowyers corner on FB...

I've got a kit bow I made in high school that looks a lot like that one, Rich. I will get specs and a pic, but I will say it shoots real fast. It's also a real twanger!

a puma-arqueria maybe?    braced sorta high?

"Three features that make this arc is the choice of many archers who love the flowing lines only have the one-piece recurve. The design of its blades allows a highly elastic opening and a large energy storage, resulting in extremely fast arrows."

The recurve looks really large. Do you have a picture unbraced? What length is it?
Probably storing energy early in the draw cycle, but I wonder how smooth this design is

Except for the high brace it looks like almost every modern one-piece recurve --- ergonomic grip with sight window, wide limbs at the fades tapering to the tips.  Good amount of recurve, not just a hint.

I'll let you guys decide if this bow is of a similar design or not. Mine is braced a lot lower. It's 60" AMO, 57#@28.5".

Cut me some slack! :cheesy: It was 1974, high school woodshop. I was the wierdo building a bow. All the cool guys were making speakers. Wonder how many are still using those speakers :goldtooth:
I think I bought the kit from Kittedredge's Bow hut. I don't remember getting any other catalogs back then.
The Bow hut catalog was thick like a phone book and almost as exciting as girly mags.

I got side tracked and forgot to comment...  This bow may look similar to a lot of bows but maybe it's not when you really look at it... Look at those smooth flowing lines and what separates it from most bows is that the limbs take on a beautiful, elegant, symmetrical 'S' shape...  I find the aesthetics very pleasing to the eye but whether it performs and shoots well is another story...  Kinda like a woman... She got all the curves in the right places but can she cook??

I think I may be in Love...

That bow looks great ! (for a recurve)

Just kiddin, the only thing I got against recurves is when you slide it in your rubber boot sitting on a treestand, it falls out on the ground!

diggin the hat too!!

That kinda looks like a super curve except the curve is more flowing. I really dont think that would be a bad thing. also prolly need to be perfect to keep from going sideways or carbon.
Kenny you got to get wider boots   :bigsmyl:

Flem's design has the recurves built on a tighter radius than Shredd's.  In fact Flem's limbs at full draw look almost as "unwound" as Shredd's design at rest.

I can't take credit for the design of the bow, or the bucket hat! She is fast and sexy though. All the Bucks and Bulls seem to captivated by her curvy lines and stop to stare, hence my reputation as a deity among bow hunters :goldtooth: The shades are a requirement when shooting this bow, if not my picture would be posted on every tree in the woods. Of course it goes without saying that with a bow like this, you don't need to come to a full draw. It would be unfair to the critters, like using wheels :saywhat:
Fair chase and all that stuff
