Thank you everyone for helping with all my first timer questions!
I’m in the process of working out my riser but my fades/belly lines just don’t look right to me. Anyone have any input? 16” riser looking at 1-1.25” above center for the shelf. This is for a 62” r/d longbow. Back is rough shaped but waiting to finish fit until I get my fades figured out. Any input is appreciated!

Sorry if the picture is not so clear. I tried making this post about 6 times and it only allowed the lower quality picture to be attached.

How deep is the riser??? Looks to me that you can come in a lot more on your fade ramps... It might look like too far when you cut it out but after you add the lams on it grows about two inches... The flat area at the end of my ramps is only about 3 1/2 to 4" long... Your fades should only be around 1/16" thick 1" from the tips... If you flatten the last inch on the inside of the ramps you won't have a problem with the lams laying down...
Hope this helps...

Shredd,
Thanks for the input. My riser is 1.75”. How far out from the center should I be bringing the ramps?

Try 2" from center and see how it looks... Throw a couple of lams on a ramp and you will see it extends it out about an inch...

KennyM's is 2-1/2" from center, maybe 3"
Put some masking tape on there, let it over hang (sand the edges to cut the tape) so you and we can see the lines and draw it again.
You need to get the back of the riser fitting the form with one piece of glass and one taper before sanding the fades.

Thanks again for the help fellas. Here is a better pic of what I’m looking at. (Thanks for the tape idea Max). It’s hard to tell from the picture yet but that is 2.5” from center.

So you have one glass and one lam. going up the fade ramps?
How thick is the lam going up the ramp?
Looks like it will work

Hi Max,
Sorry, I missed your response last night. I can check the thickness when I get home later. For this first project, I ordered a lam kit from Binghams to get started to make sure I didn't screw anything up. It's a 40# kit for a 62" bow with actionboo lams, BE Maple veneers and .040 glass.
