Hint.. it is for bow building!
All tools are just toys for big boys, right?!
-
It's a bow form made from aluminum. :)
-
No sir, I already have a matching pair of those!
Hint, it’s for takedowns
-
A jig for holding the two parts of a takedown for building up the socket.
Dave.

No sir, already have one of those as well.
But y’all are getting close!!!

Doweling jig for limb bolt insert and pins?
-
And we have a winner!!
The top is milled perfectly flat so every thing is on alignment when drilled. I still need to mount the clamps that will hold each part in place as well as a permanent stand. Wanted to do a couple test runs first. The right block for drilling risers is adjustable for different length risers. So far everything is working out great!
Ps, I got the idea from one of South Cox’s bow building videos.

very nice looking bit of kit there!.Bit envious!.

I like it because you can put it together after drilled and have all the sides that were down when drilling bolted together that way then any uneveness is all on one side. For me I just use one block and drill thru both sides to keep the same side down. And that eliminates the need for multiple riser angles etc.

That’s the same thing I’ve been doing. I decided to go this route because it is a huge time saver when doing multiple bows at the same time. Trying to make each step as proficient as possible to speed up the build times. It should pay off in the long run.

How many bows do you make in a year?
How big is that piece of Aluminum?
NICE
-
Max, it’s actually a big piece of steel channel that’s been machined flat and polished. I’m sure it will dull over time. I may wax it to see if it will stay shinny longer. :goldtooth:
I’m really not sure how many I did last year , id have to check my books.
I’m on par to do around 70 or so this year.

Sure is purdy! Hey, Crittergetter, I need you to come to my place and pour a slab for me … in-between bows of course. I'll let you rummage through the wood rooms and storage trailers. You might find something you'll like :)
Suppose we could even do a trade.. I can't find anyone here to call me back. This kungflu crap sure has made everyone busy!

Been seeing that same thing. There is more renovation and upgrading going on in the neighborhood than ever before. It's a crazy exception to the overall economy.

Monterey, I don't believe it's an exception.. Everyone I speak with is up to their ears in business. Construction, archery suppliers, specialty mfg's. Now, i'm sure the restaurant/bars are having a tough time.
Me thinks it's the media making things worse than they are... they have a tendency to do things like that.

Agree for sure on the media. Hope it is as good as you are observing. Starting to see a downturn in real estate values locally.
