Title: Bowyer's CA
Post by: buddyb on May 14, 2020, 06:05:05 PM
Does anyone know what the working time is for bowyer's ca glue? I'm thinking on getting some sort of super glue for tip overlays.

I also heard Gorilla blue cap works too but the working time is only around 30 seconds or so.

It's been a few years since I had the one bottle of Bowyers CA...The bottle I had was Black Bowyers CA glue it was old stock and Mr Stahl put it in with my order for free. It did have a longer working time like maybe 2 minutes? I have had Blue top Gorilla CA glue set in 1 or 2 seconds, I found you better be quick and precise when putting tip pieces onto the bow limb using CA glue.

I have been using a superglue by JB Weld. Seems to have some working time.

I seem to recall Binghams has a superglue for bowyers.  No experience with it though.

I didn't see any at Bingham's Jess. Big Jim sells it though.

I don't think any bowyer specific glue is in any way better for our use than any other of decent quality.   I find the big difference is in "thin", "medium" and "gel".  I'm sure there are some poor quality glues out there but I've stuck with Locktite, Gorilla and Hobby lobby store brand.  Just my .02 cents worth.
