I am very sorry for causing many of you good folks to become angry and disappointed in me, but far more importantly, become disillusioned with Trad Gang over the content of some of my most recent posts.
I sincerely apologize for my actions and have not meant in any manner to change anyone's core beliefs or cause any manner of harm.
To those who spoke of leaving Trad Gang, the cyber camp they have enjoyed for so many years, I would ask to please reconsider.
Do not allow my ramblings to be the device that causes you to abandon what you have so enjoyed and loved.
Instead, I'm the one who's leaving, so please return back to your home away from home.
It's been a great run for many years, for me. I've always enjoyed working with Terry and many many of you great folks. It's just the right time for me to get turned loose and head on out to the pasture.
Be well and safe,
Rob.

Rob, don't go! An apology for any perceived wrong doing is sufficient. Personally, I have not been offended, even though I sometimes disagree with you. We are all grown ups. If we can't disagree without getting our panties in a wad, we need to review just how mature we really are. You have been an essential member of Trad Gang for as long as I have been here and have played a major role in the success of the gang.
-
Rob - I personally accept your apology and I give you a lot of credit for making such a public apology.
These are trying times and although we need to keep politics and religion off of TradGang, it is difficult to do so because just about every aspect of all of our lives has been affected, including our traditional archery passion.
I also apologize for my thread yesterday which led to this. I disagreed with the way you handled a situation and I blew up. The way I brought it to the attention of other TradGang members was also way out of line. I am sorry for turning this into a soap opera.
I have reconsidered and I will remain an active participant on TradGang. I hope you do the same and we've all learned from this experience.
Be safe and be well.
-
Rob, you should reconsider. You apologized and that should be enough.
-
Hmmm, I must have missed something, and I’ve been here since the beginning. Ultimately if this is your choice Rob, I hope it’s for you. I appreciate your hard work over the years and whenever I’ve asked for some behind the scenes help it’s been done efficiently and kindly. My favorite teacher, from fifth grade, was also the strictest I’d ever had. Nickname was ‘Mean Greene’, but the on line comments of her recent passing at age 104 were heartwarming. Keeping an online forum on task is not easy. Many think their point of view and contribution is equal to one of the tablets carried off the mountain by Moses. I used to moderate a forum on another site and it was difficult at best, but it was easier because it was anonymous. You and Terry will be in cross hairs because you have to have heavy visible hand in keeping the forum non task. Good luck with your ultimate decision and thank you for your efforts.
-
Rob, would hate to see you leave TradGang, you have done so much for us.
If it’s any consolation Rob, I agree with you and those assumptions you posted about this morning. IT just doesn’t make sense to me either.
-
Rob,
Don't go my friend. I appreciate your attempts to keep us educated and our eyes open.
All good here....
-
Rob, I appreciate everything you have personally done for me over the years, and everything you have done for TradGang in general. I would prefer that you decide to stay, but nothing is forever, and should you decide to carry through with your plans to leave, go with the knowledge that you have enriched my life.
-
Rob, apology accepted and the choice to leave or stay is ultimately yours but as far as I'm concerned you needn't leave.
Concerning the occurence that brought us to this point, I would offer here that I'm a relatively ordinary person with eyes to see, ears to hear and a mind to consider things just like everyone else. It's certainly been going on for longer but since Kellyanne Conway so openly outed the "alternative facts" option back in 01/17 the "information" sent my way by social media and contacts from old friends is absolutely astounding and when I receive it I keep it to myself until I can tap a key.
-
Rob, thanks for commitment to this site over the years.
-
I don't post on here very much but I think you should reconsider. I know the older I get the less people I agree with. One thing I do know is I'd rather hear ones opinions than silence even if I agree or don't agree. Hope it goes well with you no matter what you choose to do.
-
Rob- I have enjoyed and learned a lot from your posts and comments over the years. You have shared your wealth of knowledge regarding the technical side of traditional archery. I don't have any idea about the technical work that goes into providing this site but I know you put in a lot of work there as well so I hope you'll reconsider staying.
I am glad to see jsweka has decided to stay and hope Whip will as well. We are all facing a stress that none of us has ever faced before and we all handle things differently. In my opinion we all need to show each other an extra measure of grace and forgiveness at this time and that goes for our other friends and family as well. To anyone thinking of leaving I would suggest taking a deep breath and waiting a few months after we get through this pandemic and maybe you'll have a different opinion by then.
I am glad to see Terry has decided to not allow threads to drift into these discussions and I know I will be checking my comments before posting to make sure they are free of those types of comments or political statements and hope others will as well.

There's not much more to say than this. I know Rob did almost all the tech stuff, might be hard to do without him.

After all, this is a traditional archery and traditional archery hunting site and Terry and the moderators have done a fantastic job of keeping it true to form. Anyone else would reprimanded or censored for doing the same as Rob has done.
I've been a proud member of TG since 2003, shortly after the site came on line and have learned a lot and contributed positively to this forum over the years. I appreciate how Terry and the other moderators have kept it a civil, informative forum unlike the other forums that drove Terry to start Trad Gang. I am an administrator and moderator on Primitive Archer forum so I understand and appreciate what it takes to keep this many people and their views pertinent to the sites rules and civil to each other and I thank Terry and the moderators for that.

PatB; 2x on that.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments that included me as well. It's a labor of love....but it can get frustrating at times. I know I've gone off the rails a few times over the years and I've apologized many times for it and will again here now.
Rob did not start the covid chat, he added it to a thread that somehow I missed that was off the rails. Rob added to it as he's frustrated as well. I removed the whole thread to censor it all.
This is why I made the post to hit moderator alert if another thread is started or drifts into covid.
Hang tuff guys....we'll get through this.... :campfire:

Idk what happened but men make mistakes. They apologize for them and move on. Other men hold nothing against you. You’ve apologized stop beating yourself up.
-
Rob needs to stay.... Nuff said.....
-
From #777. I sincerely wish that you would reconsider your departure. We all are in different places during this event. If you can’t express you opinions around the campfire among friends were can you. Please stay.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
I must have missed it as well . Rob you need to stay. Everybody please stay safe and have a very blessed day. :archer2:
-
I'm not sure why folks were claiming earlier that they are leaving. Its a traditional bowhunting web site for God's sake. Things are going to get broadside every once in a while, that's normal, but it happens WAY less here that any other forums.
Where are you going to go? The leather brawl?
I hope Rob stays, as he's is a cornerstone and pillar to keeping this site together. And has been since the beginning.
:notworthy:
-
Rob very commendable I personally didn’t catch the content. I would ask PLEASE all do not let this situation sever all the great things this site stands for. I personally never imagined the challenges of our current situation.

-
Rob all of us can and do get frustrated and run off the rails... Don’t go just take a few days or even better a week off and let this rest... See you in a week or so..!
-
Geez, I'm on here every day and I missed the dust-up. Rob, you don't need to go anywhere, buddy. Here is where you belong. Stuff happens, people get their fur rubbed the wrong way, etc. Such is life. Please reconsider.
-
Rob: Don't go. Stay with us.
-
Do a cooling off period before making your decision. Nothing I saw you wrote warrants you leaving. You seem to have lots of friends here too.
-
Rob, Please don't leave. We all should be able to voice our views and you are no different. Some how America has lost it's way. In the beginning everyone could voice their views and others could listen and critic. Some how in todays world if you don't agree with the others you should be censored. That is not right but, the PC group seems to think that's the way it is, " My way or the highway". I for one believe you should be able to freely speak one's mind.
-
Rob, Stay!!!!
-
There is no need to leave Rob. Your apology is appreciated. Trad Gang is a place to get away from all the other craziness in this world. It seems we have Terry's promise to make sure it stays that way.
-
Rob, thanks for all you've done here.
You may decide to leave someday. But make that decision at a better time than this, and under better circumstances. Now just may not be the time to leave. Your departure would only add to the sad time that we are all experiencing.

Stick around Rob..

Where have you been, Roy? We've missed you and worried about you.

We all fall
We all stumble
We all make mistakes
Even the greatest achievements will be criticized by someone
Continually getting up and striving to continue to do our best remains golden
The world may likely not appreciate the efforts and noble intentions of others
Never underestimate the love of man for it is guided by a light that pierces the bleakest darkness.
Remain resilient for today is all we have and our next breath, our next moment is but a gift….
-
Mr. Rob, I have no idea what thread thread was about or what was said by you or anyone.
I do agree with all the others, apologies should be accepted as yours was and in my opinion, that's enough.
Obviously you are well thought of here and respected as well.
Take a breath and rejoin what you seem to really enjoy, sharing your passion for traditional archery.
Terry Harris
-
Rob, You have my respect and appreciation for all that you have done for this site over the years.
-
Rob: There should be more speech. Not less speech. No apology should be necessary. Carry on.
-
Rob;
Please don't leave. You are appreciated far more than you know. :wavey:
-
From what I know of you Rob, you’re a good hearted person. Don’t go anywhere! I missed whatever happened but whoever is, was offended will get over it. All buddies get pissed off sooner or later at each other!
-
Pretty much all of these sites I’m on someone is threatening to leave and most times they don’t. So do whatever, I’m not begging anyone to stay. It’s your loss.
-
Rob do not leave us. You are a good member. If I had a nickle for everything I have said or done in 70 years of life that I wish I could change I would be rich. We are human. We are not perfect. Everybody needs to forgive and move on in life from things that we can not change,
-
We need Rob to stay!
-
Rob
The two phrases here are "I'm Sorry" and "Apology accepted". You've said the first one, and looks like all the posts on this thread have said the last.

-
The way I see it (which doesn't mean much), if a moderator or administrator engages in behavior that would have otherwise caused a member to be removed from the site, they should be removed also. Respect is a two way street. Members should not be held to a different behavior standard than moderators and administrators. Only Rob can (and should) make that determination.
-
Rob I truly wish you would reconsider. Put yourself on probation if you need to, but don't leave.....
-
Toner. Contrary to popular belief, we give people a lot of rope.
Let's try and stay positive shall we?
-
Toner. Contrary to popular belief, we give people a lot of rope.

Yes, I thought my response was both respectful and positive. I was just offering my thoughts on the situation. The fact that they may or may not correspond with other's opinions doesn't make them negative. No one is (or should be) above the rules. I'm not suggesting that anyone should stay or leave. That's Rob's decision to make in this case. I just hope that whether he decides to leave or stay, he makes that decision based on that he would have done with others given the same behavior. That's all I'll say on the matter.
-
He would have given them rope like I said.

Rob,,,,,, some rules of the good road,
#! Never apologize for being an American. If good intentioned mistakes are made, God has a lot of forgiveness for a man that put himself out there trying to do the right thing.
#2 Keep on being free. This is America, we live in big boy world, my family and friends died so you can write whatever you want on the internet till the communist shut you up, if they can get it done.
#3 Sleep good at night. Brush your teeth, smile in the mirror, and go to bed, sleep good knowing you behaved yourself as a man all day long.
“If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
― George Washington
Conclusion,,,,, Its not freedom loving Red White and Blue Americans, Veterans, that can't handle free speech, conversations of opposing views, strong opinions,,,,,, Its the week minded, those with hidden agendas, American haters and communist.
I have been on more than one hundred military aviation missions, we once flew a C5 engine from Oklahoma City to Guam in a C141,,,, I sat there in jump seats with a giant jet engine taking up the middle of the aircraft, chained down, my legs entangled within the chains, we made it, no problem, C5 repaired, ready for war.
While in Guam, we were invited onto another C141 that had just arrived from Vietnam, to salute soldiers coming home from war, early 90s, The men on that plane were Americans, draped with American flags, former MIA that were recovered after 30 years in Vietnam. Those soldiers are why we honer our great country with free speech, God Bless The United States Of America!

The fact of the matter is that Rob didn't start the discussion about Corona, and it went on a long time before he chimed it. What he had to say wasn't popular, maybe wasn't correct, and maybe shouldn't have been posted on a closed thread. But when I read it, it opened my eyes to a different way of thinking about things. Practically everybody in history who has made controversial statements about the status quo has met with the same condemnation. Not all by any means, but SOME of the people who have made such controversial statements have gone on to change history in a positive way. I think he did make some procedural errors, but none that would have caused me to kick him off the forum, if I were in his position.
-
Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences, if it did this private forum wouldn't have moderators and any topic would be fair game.
-
No worries Rob. I guess ALL that posted off topic on that thread would have to be removed if you were. I watched those videos, and there was no 'conspiracy theory' as some were claiming. All I saw was a long time doctor running test after test trying to find the virus because no one has produced a slice of it or a shown a pic of it. Not sure that the conspiracy is if in fact the Doc is providing facts.
I like the 'let's be positive' approach.
-

The lack of free speech is not without consequence, the consequence being tyranny and communism. Unfortunately there are weak minded men who are not comfortable alone in the wilderness, they fear to go to the wild places, to deal with nature on its on terms. Those weak minded individuals must intwine within and find power hiding inside government, a government not for freedom and freedoms, a government of control for tyrants.
Just so you know, while on a bowhunting trip to Canada, Isle De Anicosti for August deer hunting, after spending thousands of dollars and investing hundreds of hours into the hunt, I was stopped at the border of Canada, accused of being an international drug smuggler for multiple entries because I had a residence in Key West Florida, you know the little island that Miami Vice and other shows depicted as being a drug smugglers haven in the 80s and 90s, called a liar, threatened with prison, interrogated for 4 hours, put in taxi and sent back to the USA, then swore to never step a inch into Canada again. I went to Alaska for 2 years with a Jerry Hill Longbow and read Bows on the Little Delta a few times, taught myself to make arrows with a couple books and gear from Three Rivers.
-
Guys, please refrain from letting this topic drift off topic.....thanks. :campfire:

I like the 'let's be positive' approach.
I like the "Lets Be Positive" approach of keeping America free. Remembering as a boy, waking up to my grandfathers nightmare of being back in WW2, of him sleeping holding onto the bedpost as he did sleeping on ships crossing the Atlantic ocean heading to war, in case they were torpedoed so he would not be knocked out of the bed. He didn't talk about it much but I understand he killed 11 men in Africa. He spoke of them, not as enemies, but good men who were on the wrong side of the war. He lost a lot of sleep over it in his 89 year long life.
My Grandfather served on the USS Arizona in the 20s then went to WW2 at 37 years old, Im sure his feelings were hurt a lot more than anyone complaining about loose talk on a internet forum, my concern is his sacrifice for my and your freedom, maybe we should be more concerned with respecting those who fought and died for freedom than people sitting in climate controlled spaces typing on the interwebs.
-
Guys, please refrain from letting this topic drift off topic.....thanks. :campfire:
Terry, I have been a member here since 2009, involved and busy with other things, so mostly daydream about old hunting trips, growing up with the lemonwood bow my grandfather made as a boy scout troop leader in the 20s then gave me in the 70s which was my life, the best memories I have back then, me, an ugly dog, and my bow.
I associate archery with free speech, with being an American, joined the Army at 18 and gave a lot, don't need any hi fives or locker room slaps on the butt to make me feel validated. I make no apologies for loving America, loving freedom, and writing whatever I feel like writing, Thanks, b.

Bryan, this is a privately owned forum. You can't just say what ever you feel like here.
Now, are you going to stay on topic or not?

I was just thinking the same thing, and a lot of the people that don't care if Rob quits may not understand that he basically runs the site when there's problems. Who's going to do it if he leaves. Think about a Trad Gang or no Trad Gang at all! I'm not sure if I agree with everything he says, but give the guy some slack!
-
EXACTLY Rick, I can't drive the car if you take out the engine!
-
Rob,
You are one of the "good guys"! With your tech knowledge you have done far more good for the traditional archery brotherhood than any harm some might have conjured from a post you made. I saw none, but I am old and don't have an axe to grind.
Please stay with us. I, for one, know when to cut a "good guy" a healthy measure of slack if ever it is needed.
Best Regards,
JMC

Being a moderator on a forum myself, I know that it takes one or two people who put their heart and souls into it, to keep a forum running. I know one of those people here is Rob. If he gos then it makes the others jobs that much harder.
I also know it only take one or two intent on doing harm/ trolling whatever to do major disruption and harm to a forum, and it can take massive time and effort to sort things out straight again with the major casualty being the forum as a whole as good members leave because they are sick of the rubbish created.
The forum I help moderate also has rules, and the way I see them is this- they are there to sort out the real trouble makers. I will though, forgive those decent people who are having a bad day or maybe did something everyone of us have done and opened our mouths without thinking of the consequences.
I have also quit in the past to give myself some time out- come back when Im ready and been pleased people have forgiven me my indiscretions.
One thing I do know is dont quit in the heat of the moment. Take some days and walk away, read a book, think about other things, then come back and see how you feel.
In the end we all should be able to tolerate each others opinions, because we have more in common in our love of archery, than we do that separates us.
And finally its just an absolute shit time right now for all, Sorry about the language but there just is no other way to describe it. Everyone is stressed and worried and it is going to show. Give each other a break. Thats the best we can do.
-
“ And finally its just an absolute shit time right now for all, Sorry about the language but there just is no other way to describe it. Everyone is stressed and worried and it is going to show. Give each other a break. Thats the best we can do.”
Ain't that the truth. +1
-
I don't know what was said but I know one thing our founding Fathers put Freedom of Speech at the top for a reason. When everyone is saying "hey shut up, this is what the truth is!" I want someone to say, "Maybe not, what about this." A good debate is needed every time we discuss something important. I totally despise this climate of shutting someone up because they don't like what another person has to say. I totally understand it is needed sometimes on a public forum where we want people to stay on topic and be respectful but an apology goes a long way with me and so does forgiveness.
-
Sincere honest apologies are hard to come by now a days. When you hear one, accept it with gratitude.
If I was apologizing, I would hope it fell upon forgiving ears.
-
I missed the thread, so I have no idea what was said. I just want Rob to stay. It won't be Tradgang without you Rob! I hope you will reconsider and keep on keeping on.
-
And for those of you claiming anyone else would have been removed.....or that we don't give people rope...
Not counting the constant badgering I had to put up with from this guy yesterday.....he hasn't been removed yet...
Topic he started.....
I first learned of Alex Jones a few years ago. To be honest some of the stuff he was saying seemed straight out of crazy town. Now with all the new gun laws, legal abortion up to the moment of birth, it appears almost every subject he touched on has now come into the public light with some truth to it.
Just wondering what forum members think about Alex? Is he really crazy or just way ahead of his time with all the conspiracy? Rumor has it he is loading up a tv crew and heading to Virginia.
And the joe rogan experience....

Yes, please come back Rob. I for one have learned a lot from you over the years. These are certainly stressful times, but I know you care and are definitely one of the good guys!
-
I read the thread and I respectfully accept your apology. I refuse to disrespect your decision to move on by asking you to reconsider. I wish you all the best.
Should you read this, I want to thank you for the few open and honest discussions we’ve had outside the forum and the most recent help in getting my account up and running again (under a different username). Still can’t figure out what happened to my old account. :)
-
Rob,
You have only been helpful to me whenever I needed help.
You are a good man and I would be proud to have you remain with us fellow Tradgang members.
I have been known to put a foot in my mouth from time to time!
We are all only human my friend

-
Rob,
I don't know you but when I did bonehead things like password reset issues etc, you were very kind and helpful. Hope you reconsider.
-
Well folks, I've known Rob for years.
I've shot with him a few times. Talked on the phone with him a few times. Mostly though, here on TG and over on BP Gang.
(Haven't been THERE in awhile, if it's still around?)
Every now and then, I disappear for awhile. Sometimes for months, sometimes years... I haven't been around for awhile, but I've noticed ALOT of new names this time around. So... for all of you "new guys" a little History Lesson.
A few years ago or so, TradGang overwent a MAJOR overhaul!!! Countless numbers of man hours, and major amounts of money. we're talking MONTHS of work!!! Terry and Rob, did a TREMENDOUS JOB!!! But Honestly, being the computer genius that he is, Rob did most of the computer work.
Without Rob's tireless work and dedication, TradGang would NOT be here today!!!!!
I'm personally asking you to PLEASE stay Rob!!! I don't have many "old friends" around here anymore...
-
Not sure what this was all over but it would be sad to see Rob leave something it seemed he put a lot of work into. Hopefully he just needs break.
-
I don’t want Rob to go. If you need to just take a break for a while. Everything is pretty stressful these days. God bless and Happy Easter!
-
Rob, instead of you asking all of us to reconsider leaving, we are collectively asking you to reconsider. I know I speak for more than myself but tradgang would NOT be the same without you sir. Please stay, sincerely Tradcat
-
Thank you all for your acceptance and well wishes. I am humbled.
Way back in 2003, at Terry's direction, I began the technical build of Trad Gang, then continued with it's updating and maintenance. I don't see abandoning that kinda behind-the-scenes work. I posted the other day on the "HH BUG GOT ME - Part Two!" thread, so I guess I just can't stay away from Trad Gang for too long, no matter what. I think that's a good thing. Happy to be back home, folks. Thank you.

Great news, Rob!

I think you are an asset to this forum. I have had several differences of opinion some I just did not mention because I like being here. Hopefully going ahead you will use this and make us like you better.
I'm not sure that it should be Rob's, or anyone’s goal, to make other people like them better. We just need to be true to ourselves and let the chips fall where they may. But that's just my belief as an old curmudgeon, YMMV.
-
I’m glad you stayed

Thank you for coming back. You are family!

The right decision, if we all left after a screw up, this would be a lonely place...
