Title: Aluminum spine choices

Good morning everyone, I’m planning on putting together some aluminum arrows for my Browning recurve and am slightly confused as to the spine selection. My bow is #45, center cut, shooting off the shelf, arrows will be 29” with 150 gr heads. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You could start with some full length 1916.

I would think the 1916 is perfect.  I have a couple bows that are 45#@28 and I draw 29 1/2.  I shoot 30 inch 1916s with any head between 140 and 175 grains.

With a similar set up I shoot 29.5 inch 2014s..............

Running your info through the newest Stu Miller calculator, I found 29" XX75 1916 to be under spined with 150 grain head.  Assuming Dacron string?
Curious to see what actually works for you.

If not 1916 then 2016.

Or the 2113 or 2114 if you want a lighter faster arrow.

I would prefer the 1916 or 2016 with their 5/16th diameter and thicker walls in general though

I have found the various calculators, Easton's, Stu's etc.... have always recommended a much stiffer arrow than what I needed.  It is a starting point, but for me it was always a weaker shaft that ended up being the one for me.  Others may not feel the same, just my experience after many years of experimenting.

There is a wealth of knowledge here and I am not able to talk to the lighter weight arrows.  I have found Easton chart to be a good start. Generally the lighter physical weight recommendations for the spine you need are were I like to be.
