Where is everyone getting their Osage staves from these days?
Thanks Rick

Most of us cut our own but there are many places to buy them, I have a friend that has bought a bunch off ebay. I just looked at the ebay staves, looks like two sellers. You have to know your osage before buying one of these staves, many have poor growth rings, all are green. It is my understanding that the guy who posts them on a white lawn chair is an OK guy, I don't know about the other guy.

Thanks Eric, it doesn’t grow here in northern NY. I was getting some from Osage outlaw but he stopped selling staves. By the way, you tillering gizmo works great!

Osage Outlaw has avery good reputation for providing good staves. He mentioned that he worked 300 staves or so a year, I know from experience that that much drawknife work will ruin your hands. My hand problems are minor (carpal tunnel), compared to the guys who make a living off of the stuff. Another thing we run into is developing pretty severe allergies to osage dust. I have to wear a cartridge chemical mask to make bows now as well as change clothes and take a bath after I come in from the shop.

I would trade for a nice Hop hornbeam stave. It doesn't grow here in Missouri but I have plent of Osage and Hickory.

Thanks Dan but I don’t have anything to trade, I’m looking to buy some nice quality staves. If you have something that you want to sell let me know.
