A couple years back the Gang participated in an honors system “virtual” shoot. Anyone else remember that? With all the social distancing going on right now, a virtual shoot is starting to sound pretty nice.
-
The other site has something similar with "first shoot of the day."
:archer2: :campfire:
-
Might be kind of fun.
-
I believe I still have the pdf of the target we used if we decide to run it again.
-
I’ve been searching for the old post that has the “rules” for the competition. Anyone remember them?
-
3 arrows max score of 30 points. Scoring rings started at 10 and went down 2 points per ring. I want to say we shot from 15 or so yards.
-
Thanks for the reminder. Would you please post the .pdf of the target. Can’t wait to print it out and miss it by a mile.
-
Couldn't find the original pdf but made up a new one to the same specs real quick. Let me know if anyone has trouble accessing it.
-
This sounds like fun.
-
Anyone interested in doing this as a virtual league?
Say once a week we do a thread where you can shoot and post up your scores just for some fun?
-
Sure.
-
Just downloaded and printed copies of the target. If we get enough interest, I am up for a league. I’d even offer to keep score. It won’t be hard for me to add up all of my zeros. :biglaugh:
-
Another fun way you could do this, have a small target like a water bottle cap hang in front of a backstop.
Shoot at the target and count how many shots to hit it.
Could have a few different ranges like 10yds, 15yds, you get the idea.
Would score like golf, the low score is the winner.
-
If I remember correctly, whoever shot the best score this week would set the parameters for the next week, yardage, position, bow cant, # of arrows, warm-up or not, etc...
-
It was called Tradgang Fun Shoot if you want to search it
-
:clapper:
-
My wife and I are both in! I'll need to learn how to post pics. This should be funny :biglaugh:
-
I'll sign up, I'm trying to develop a new arrow anyway. No laughing at my scores though, well at least not to my face :biglaugh:
-
I'm in.
-
I'm in.
-
Question for those interested, can you all download and print the target or would you prefer to use something else?
-
Yup no problem with that here
-
Yes! This is gonna be awesome. Unfortunately I’ve been in a bit of a shooting slump lately; too much work and stress. Hoping this will be the shot in the arm I need to get me back into it!
I can download and print, but game for whatever y’all come up with.
-
I don't know why this made me chuckle but it did. Can we do a William tell target at one point? Points for hitting the apple points for a clean miss and deductions for hitting the person lol. I just picture my target with a sad face when I'm done hahhaha
-
I am planning to participate.
-
I'd like to participate.
-
Looks like we have enough interest to start this up. Here are the proposed rules. Let me know if I missed anything.
A copy of the target can be downloaded on Page 1 of this post. If you can’t access it, dimensions are:
10-ring = 2”
8-ring = 4”
6-ring = 6”
4-ring = 8”
Each week, shoot three shots at your target from ~15 yards. Max score is 30.
Try to post your scores by Saturday so we can get results for the week by Monday morning.
The highest scoring shooter for the week will get to pick one extra fun shot for bragging rights. In the event of a tie for the week, the first person to post their score wins.
Am I missing anything?
-
I'm in. Any warm up shots?
-
Warmup shots are fine with me.
-
It would be nice if the circles on that pdf target were concentric.
-
Maybe something like this...
-
Or this...
-
I don’t have any strong feelings about what the target looks like as long as it is easy to print out and score. If those participating have a preference, speak now. Otherwise, let’s use the one Creekwood was kind enough to share attached here.

If no one has any last-minute questions, suggestions, revisions to the rules, then let’s get this thing started. Feel free to post pictures, scores, and jibes here.
-
In printing the target face on 8.5" by 11" paper, the black of the target is 5/8" in diameter. Is that how this should print?
-
Dang. You’re right. It prints smaller than I thought. Maybe we should go back to the original target.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Does that work better for everyone?
-
It printed OK for me.
-
Well I guess I'll be the first to post a score. It's been awhile since I've broke the Tip out so I was glad to hit the paper :biglaugh:
First shot was a miss, second was an 8, and third was a 6. Total score for week one was a 14. Bow was a Schafer Silvertip recurve 71@28.

I'm in.... I'll print my target today at work. What fun!!
-
There was a break in the rain and I was able to get out and shoot this morning.
I’m pretty happy with today’s score. A solid 24 with my Sunset Hill shooting Gold Tip Traditional Classics.

Well I only got 2 unfletched arrows at the moment but I had an arrow from last year kicking around that shoots ok so I tossed that in the mix. Not to shabby. 2 8s and a 6. Put me down for 22
-
What's the deadline for each weeks entry? Might not be able to make this week's but I'm in after that!
-
I'm not in charge in any way but I'd have no problem with someone that joins in late playing catchup. This is just for fun anyway.
-
ok three shots, at 15 yards, a 10 and two 8's ,thanks for doing this. only wish i knew how to posy pictures

No warm up 28 if breaking into ring counts had on the 6/8 line.
Bow 43 lb left handed flatline.
Arrows homemade woodies one of the 10s was a broadhead
-
What's the deadline for each weeks entry? Might not be able to make this week's but I'm in after that!
There is no hard deadline for this week. If you get scores to me by tomorrow we’ll count it. Otherwise, we will add you to the list for week two. Currently, Petrichor is in the lead. If no one beats a 28 by tomorrow, he gets to call the bonus shot for the week.
-
Wait does breaking a ring count? How do we count?
Nice shooting either way petrichor.
-
I'll see if I can get in this evening.
:campfire:
-

Nice shooting either way petrichor.
Based on the rules from the last time we did this, breaking the ring counts.
-
Ok good to know, then mark me down for 24, not that it matters hahaha. Petrichor is a sniper.

A score of 28. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

A score of 28.
That's a fine group.

Thanks! Though friend showed me up!!
-
Might have to take my MOAB out of retirement. BR LB is a bit stiff after not shooting for far too long. If you're gonna shoot heavy bows, you got to shoot 'en
'em. I'll be in next week.
:campfire:
-
:clapper: nice shooting guys! I really miss my Howard Hill... :banghead:
-
Today I shot a 10, a 6, and then another 10. For me that's pretty good.
-
Here’s mine from tonight. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Well week one is a wrap. Thanks for those participating. Here are the scores:
Week One:
Petrichor – 28
Friend – 28
Kwc – 26
Smokin Joe – 26
Evgb127 – 24
BearBandit - 24
Trad_bowhunter1965 – 18
Snakebit40 – 14
Petrichor was the first to post the highest score, so he gets to pick a bonus shot for the week if he’s so inclined. For those wanting to join in, the shoot is open each week starting on Monday.
A copy of the target can be downloaded on Page 1 of this post. If you can’t access it, dimensions are:
10-ring = 2”
8-ring = 4”
6-ring = 6”

Alright I debated just doing an easy extra shot. But I figured let's have some fun with it. If you are so inclined for bonus shot. Take a new target and fold it in half and then into quarters so the printed rings are facing out. You basically should have a quarter target. This shot is risk vs reward, I'll explain in a moment. 15 yards in what ever position you deem comfortable fire 1 shot (more than welcome to warm up). This 1 shot with the folded paper could potentially give you 4 holes in the scoring area and this is your score. Highest possible for bonus shot is 40 points. After shooting calculate your score and post the target. Risk going for bull big chance of nothing or maybe a perfect score... this will be interesting.
-
My bonus round. Played it safe.
-
Shot a 24 on the 3@15. Not sure how the bonus shot works, but got a 16 on that. Wish I could say I was playing it safe, just shot high.

Can't load attachments so, I'll just report the numbers...last weeks score 8,8,4. This week 10,8,4. I whiffed on the bonus, tried for the ten ring, big goose egg on that. Had fun though, God willing I'll be back next Week.
Thanks.

Rushed my shots this week. Ended up with two 6’s and a 10 for a 22.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
I did better on this week’s bonus shot. Hit the 8-ring.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Shoot straight and stay healthy!
-
My week 2 score:
the bonus shot from week 1 = the 6 ring -- total 24 points
week 2 shots = an 8, another 8, a 6 = total 22 points.
-
Well I flubbed it up this week. 8 on the shoot and 0 on the bonus :knothead:
-
Well forgot to take a pic with arrows in and broadhead ripped paper when I pulled it out. It was triple 8 for me with 2 arrows basically in same hole. 24 pts same bow and arrows as last time and shot cold again.

Ok here are my scores. Not too great, but fun. Going to have to start practicing some more.
How do line cutters work here? If we get the higher score, than I have a 4, 6, and 10 for a 20. If not, I've got two 4's and a 10 for an 18. The bonus shot went a little bit better. Four 8's for a 32.

Thanks to everyone participating. If you didn’t make it last week, no worries, join us at any time. Here are Week Two scores:
Pflum – 24
Smokin Joe – 24
Petrichor – 24
G.R. – 22
EVGB127 – 22
kwc – 20
Trenton G. – 20
BearBandit – 8
There was a three-way tie for high score this week of 24. Pflum was the first person to post his score, so he gets to pick this week’s bonus shot. Notably, no one has posted a perfect score yet. The “Broad Side of the Barn Award” a.k.a. posting a zero for the week also hasn’t been “won” yet. So you better shoot straight!

Give me some time.

Whew, I got lucky last week. Wasn't expecting my 24 to break the top 5.
Let's do a turkey type shot for the bonus. Season opens here in Ky this Saturday.
Same distance, 15 yards, sitting on a chair or stool. Draw your bow as slooooow as you can and put her in the 10 ring.
Thanks for starting this, we were just getting out to some 3d's when the poop hit the fan. This is good to make the practice interesting.
-
Good call Pflum.I did a little better sitting than standing. 8,6,10,in that order, 24 for my bonus shots.
Thanks.
G.R.

Here’s mine i can’t get out of the fours
-
I've been watching this post and was a little intimidated butt it looked like a lot of fun. I know I should be becoming a better shot as I get older but it isn't happening. I got an 8 and 2 4's for 16. 0 on the bonus shot. Looking forward to next week. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Yup, we're in lockdown over here too, so I'm keen to have a go. Looks and sounds like fun.
Cannot print the target for some reason, so what diameters are the circles and I'll draw it.

I finally was able to print the target so I'll try and jump in this week. :archer:
-
So I guess I'm a bit confused on this week's bonus shot. I know we need to be sitting, but is the target folded up again or just normal?
-
No, don't have to fold the target, or even get a new target. Just shoot your 3 from 15, then another shot sitting and drawing slowly.

Many thanks Evan,
For some computer type reason I can't print it. Never-mind, now you've kindly given me the sizes, I'll draw one up over this long weekend (our Easter break) and have a crack at it and see how I score.

Great shooting G.R. You just posted the highest score to date and are currently in the lead for this week.
-
Very windy here today, so I figured I hunt in the wind so why not shoot for score: an 8, a 6, and a 4.
Then the super slow sitting shot: a line-cutting 10
Maybe I should shoot slower all of the time.

Ok,
Seeing I'm living up to my somewhat computer illiterate skills, and cannot seem to print the target, I've drawn up one using the sizes Evan kindly posted back at my request.

Hi Lex, Your target looks great. Please join in on the fun. I hope you keep those pretty arrows of yours in the 10-Ring.
As for the rest of the group, who would be interested in changing the target either each week or every so often? I’m on the fence about it because I’m not too tech savvy and generally like a keep it simple approach. That said, if someone wants to volunteer their target designs, please feel free. Perhaps the high scorer for the week gets to decide on the next target?
-
Sounds good to me. Different targets, different distances, as long as everyone does the same shot it's all good and fair.
-
This week’s score is an 18. I shot without warming up, using 24-year-old aluminum arrows that I recently refletched. I forgot how much I love aluminum arrows. They will be making their way back into my quiver for sure.
For the bonus shot, I sat on a 5-gallon bucket and barely snuck one in the 6-ring.
For next week, I think I found our new target...

If the weather is co-operative today, I'll try to shoot three of "those pretty arrows" :biglaugh: somewhere into those target rings.

Alrighty
Just picked a break in the weather, pinned up the target, walked back to 15 meters, and shot a 10 and two 8's, for a total of 26

And my sloowwww one off the seat (a 5 gallon bucket that gave me a wet butt 😁), and managed to plunk another 8

Your three shot score cracked two lines. Seems like a 4 6 10 to me. Good shooting.
-
Cool! It was super close so wasn't sure what to call it.
-
So, I guess I'm high score for week #3. So I think it's up to me to call this weeks (week#4) target. Lets use the same target and shoot the same 3 arrow group but this time add up your score from the three arrow group and subtract it from 30,low score wins. Bonus shot, 1 arrow from 20yds sitting.
Good Luck to All.

Here are the week 3 results:

Been trying to crawl down for a 15 yard point on but decided today to use my 20 yard hold a bit low. Seemed to work well. Also have been shooting lighter arrows in anticipation of shooting more 3D's this year. Corona Virus put a stop to that.
-

Yeah. Been throwing carbons with different spine and weight tips. Several different aluminum arrow combo just trying to find a 3-D open class candidate. These are the two front runners. Didn’t want to waste targets.

I shot two six’s and an eight for a 20 (or 30-20=10... counting on all fingers and toes).
My 20 yard sitting shot was a solid 6.
Looks like I have some work to do before PA’s Spring Turkey opener.
-

I see a 6, 8, and 10 for a total of 24. Good shooting!
-
Two 6's and an 8 for me this week. I guess that means 30-20 so final score of 10. Sitting down from 20 was another 6.
It's been crazy windy here. Had a heck of a time getting the target to lay flat long enough for me to shoot at it!
-
26 on the 3@15.
0 on the bonus.
-
Bonus.
-
Nice shooting Pflum. I also appreciate your honesty with the 20 yard shot. What a difference 5 yards can make. :o
-
Haha yeah that one got away. Shot 3 more sitting at 20, two 8s and a 6. Made me feel a little better.
Hey, if we didn't miss, would we still be doing this? All part of the fun.
-
Here are the week 4 scores:
JoeHenry – 26
Pflum – 26
G.R. – 24
Pine – 24
Smoking Joe – 20
Evgb127 – 20
Trenton G. – 20
KWC - 16
Newcomer JoeHenry was the first to post this week’s high score. Congratulations.
As we enter week five, it seems like interest is starting to wane. Should we wrap this up or keep it going? I’m enjoying it, but I’m open to suggestions for keeping it interesting.
-
I would say let’s go another few weeks. We are still locked down here.
-
I'll keep shooting as long as it doesn't get to be silly shots.
Like over 20 yards or twisting around backwards and shooting under a limb or something like that. :saywhat:
I like the three shot on the target we have been using.
It makes me get out of the house for a few minuets every weekend.
-
am late with my score this week but it was only 16 , and a 4 at 20 yards, sorry for the late entry
-
Please don’t stop. I’m just getting ready. What is the bonus shot this week?
-
I'm still in, I shoot just about every day anyway so it's just a matter of slapping the paper up and taking a pic.
-
I’ll keep it going. Glad others are enjoying it. JoeHenry gets to pick the bonus shot this week.
Let’s see if this is the week that someone finally scores a 30!
-

OK guys luckily Pflum is my eldest son and he graciously let me know to pick the bonus. Lets try something inline with Turkey hunting as well. I find I have to cant my bow in a blind. Most of us are doing that from the bucket as well. Lets shoot the bonus sitting flat on the ground but lets make it 10 yards. I will shoot and post tomorrow.
-
I like the way you think.
:campfire:
-
Well here is my score for this week. 2 8's and a 6 for 22. Shot a 4 on my bonus. I had intended to shoot one practice bonus but did not. Plus I had to throw a stick to distract my daughters Red bone hound who was curious as to why I was sitting on the ground. So when you shoot the bonus throw a stick and shoot fast. :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
-
Hey there all,
Haven't been feeling much like playing bows and arrows for a while, been a bit crook again and have been staying inside by the fire. Not the dreaded "Woo Hoo Flu" though, just a good old garden variety change of seasons head cold.
Been keeping on checking in here, watching you guys have fun though, some good shooting, and some not as good but no doubt fun shooting too.
Will get back into it if it's still going when I feel up to it.
Reading all the stuff on here Trad Gang certainly keeps me entertained. Very thankful to be a part of it.

Did a kinda reverse shoot this morning. Since the bonus was a sitting flat on ground and to insure that I didn’t throw an arrow over the fence with my back-up bow a Kota 62”, I took it first, 4 points. At least on paper. Next three were 8, 6, 8 for 22+4.
-
Won’t let me post pic from lphone.

8+8+8=24

Bonus shot from 20 yards sitting on my hunting chair because I can't sit on the ground.
Doubled the distance to make up for it.
Trust me, this was a lucky shot.
-
score for this week an 8, 6, 4, for 18, and a 4 for the bonus, but i did see a turkey cross the road going to set up my ground blind for opening day. i know theres a joke in there somewhere :dunno:
-
Some fine shooting from Wudstix right here:
-
Hard to believe it but we wrapped up Week 5. Here are the scores:
Pflum – 26 Bonus – 6
Pine – 24 Bonus – 10
JoeHenry – 22 Bonus – 4
G.R. – 22 Bonus – 8
Wudstix – 22 Bonus – 4
EVGB127 – 20 Bonus – 8
Trenton G. – 18 Bonus – 6
SmokingJoe – 18 Bonus – X
Kwc – 18 Bonus – 4
Well, the Pflum family seems to be dominating this competition with JoeHenry being the winner last week, and Pflum winning this week. Pine was a good sport with the bonus, and it paid off with a 10! Great shooting guys. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this week. What bonus do you have for us Pflum?
As always, “contestant” are allowed to join in on the fun at any time.
:campfire:
-
Good shooting gents! Wanted to print targets yesterday but was unable to do to the craziness at work. If you all read the news for baton rouge you'll understand why. Anyway hope to compete this week. May get out to practice this week.
-
How about bonus this week, shoot from 20 with your toes pointed strait towards the target.
-
Great choice in a bonus shot. I anticipate a lot of zeros this week. :archer2: :o
-
I think just getting on paper with that bonus shot will be good. I’ve got an idea if I get a chance.
:archer2: :o
-
Put me down for 20 this week. 4 on the bonus [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

10,6,and a 4. 20 points for me this week. Did well with the Bonus with no warmups.
-
Shot new chinook I got yesterday. Only have 1 arrow. 24 on weekly 6+8+10 (broke line). Broke 10 line on bonus. Not bad for new bow and only second day with it.
-
6,6,4, 16. bonus 6...Geeesh. I was going turkey hunting tomorrow morning, guess I'll sleep in.
-
Here are Wudstix’s shots for the week:
Bonus arrow is on the right:
Some fine shooting there.
-
This is my shooting this evening. 10, 8, 10 the angels smiled for sure. And the bonus shot was 8. I think the angels could not believe this one. I have admit I did practice this shot several times this week. Pics will be posted by Evan.

Dave, s
Guess it is something about new bows. Been shooting my back up bow since this Covid-19 hit and finally got some arrows that will shoot consistently from it. Key was they had to handle VPA and Grizzly Instinct 190-200 grain heads.

Indeed great shooting!
-
Nice shooting Wudstix, I believe that's the closest anyone has been to 30. It's gonna happen.
-
Thanx, it was an out of body experience for sure.
:campfire:
-
Finally got three arrows in the ten ring.
It only took me 19 shots to do it. :banghead:
No score for me this week.

Bonus shot toes pointed at the target.
I should have shot that way for the real shooting.
-
That could be a good idea for the final. Person who gets 3 in the 10 ring in the least amount of shots wins.
-
It’s a thought.
-
Oh, yeah shure; make fun of me.
I hafta admit the very first shot was the hole in the upper left on the paper.
I wasn't even going to post an entry this week but it seems only right to take the good with the bad.
-
There is no score for me this past week. I was too busy with online work to shoot. This next week will be better, I hope.
-
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ You are not allowed to view attachments ] ok mdont know if this worked, shot today either 22 or 24 depends who you score if it broke the line. extra shot was actulay harder than i thought it would be , but i good a six, guess i like lines.

Finals week for me so I wasn't able to make it out shooting this week. Hopefully I earn myself some good karma for next week by staying in and studying as opposed to shooting!
-
Here are the Week 6 scores:
Wudstix – 28 Bonus – 8
Petrichor – 24 Bonus – 10
Kwc – 24 Bonus – 6
EVGB127 – 22 Bonus – 6
JoeHenry – 20 Bonus – 8
Pflum – 20 Bonus – 4
G.R. – 16 Bonus – 6
Pine – the Shotgun Patterning Award
Smoking Joe – the Working Stiff Award
Trenton G – the Scholar Award
Great shooting this week. What’s in store for our Week 7 bonus Wudstix?
-
Was thinking: both knees on ground kneeling from 17.3 yards. Small knee pad allowed. Potentially, 1 point extra for bows over 60”, but we’ll go with consensus on that.
:coffee: :campfire: :archer2:
-
I'm all done. It's been fun but I just cant do this.
Sense my last shooting I'm having trouble keeping my balance and I think that was showing up in the way I was shooting.
I'm still watching this with anticipation to see how well you do.
-
PM sent be well.
-
I'm late to the party. So here's my alibis right up front. :biglaugh:
Just getting o over tennis elbow. Arrows are not yet tune to this bow. Wind is blowing 35 miles per hour.
This is probably the first zero score! :scared: upper left corner, lower right corner in the tape (arrow pointing it out) and just breaking the paper on the right edge.
If we continue, im switching bows next week. :)

26 for the week. 8+8+10. Bonus was a whiffing 4. Guess I need to practice more on my knees. :archer:
Shot with my new chinook really liking the bow.
-
This week I tried using some old woodies that I recently refletched. I ended up with two 6’s and an 8.
For the bonus, I took my time and put it in the 10-ring.... finally.
:campfire:
-
10,8,6,for a 24,10 for the bonus shot. I shot the bonus a 20yds,guess my reading skills need improvement too. Good shooting guys.
-
My score this week:
10
10
6 -- glanced off the tail of one of the 10 shots :banghead:
Bonus shot from the knees with a 62-inch Centaur:
8
Seems like the crazy work week didn't hurt me too much.
-
....and what's worse, the glance-off shot tore part of a feather off of one of my arrows. I have some repair work to do. That's the good thing about carbon shafts with wraps, I can refurbish them pretty easily. It just takes some time.
-
Finally cooled off to 75 at 5:30 and I threw some arrows. 10-8–10 for first three and squeezed into 8 for bonus. I’ll have Evan post pics for me again.
-
Here are Wudstix’s shots.
First shot:
Second shot:
Third shot:
Bonus:
Great shooting!
-
Thanks Evan. It helps with allot of time on your hands to fiddle with arrows and shoot. My wife thinks I shoot too much cause my arms and back are tired. She thinks I should be doing her projects. Kinda am by organizing the garage and tossing stuff, cleaning out files from too long ago. Take two or a couple breaks to shoot my Kota. Think I finally figured out what length shoots with 238 grains up front.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Great shooting.
-
Here are the Week 7 scores:
Wudstix – 28 / Bonus 8.
Petrichor – 26 / Bonus 4
Smokin Joe – 26 / Bonus 8
G.R. – 24 / Bonus 10
EVGB127 – 20 / Bonus 10
Monterey – 0
Some great shooting this week. Wudstix really brought his A game. Participant levels are starting to drop. However, as long as the interest is still there, I will keep this going. I’m also open to ideas on how to keep it interesting. What’s in store for us this week Wudstix?
:campfire:
-
Thanks, it helps when you don’t have anywhere to hunt and time to shoot.
:archer2:
Let me think about something interesting!
-
I'll get back in if the shots are so a gimp like me to be able to do. :archer:
-
Ok, Sta͏n͏dard 3 from 15 yards sitting on a stool/chair/seat. Bonus, shot however you like from 12 yards. Draw quarter size circle in each corner, kinda centered. One arrow at each corner circle. Most hits or barring that shortest combined measurement to center of all four circles. Something a bit different.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
A mark or shading can be added to the bonus circles if you desire.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Making up a batch of woodies, and hope they are done.
:campfire:
-
I need to make a fresh batch myself. I love woodies.
-
It’s been two plus years!!!
:campfire:
-
My scores for the week:
From a chair:
an 8, a 10, an 8
For the four corners (which I could not see, som I put some magic marker in them)
upper right center to center: 1 inch
upper left center to center: 7/8 inch
lower left center to center: 3/4 inch
lower right center to center: 3 inches
(don't let the nail holes from the hanging the target confuse you)

10,8,10 for me this week. The quarter size bonus circles were hard for me to see too, so I used a sharpie, it helped my old eyes to see them, not necessarily to hit them.
Good Shooting All.
Gary.
-
Shooting this evening was 15 yards from an old Army scissor stool with plywood top. First arrow was on the money for 10, then 10 a little higher left, then 8 (tore the ring pulling arrow out). Bonus top left 1-1/8”. Top right 1-5/8. Bottom left 1-1/4. Bottom right 1-1/2. (5-1/2” total)
-
Bonus target. Shot from the same stool.
-
With measurements. Shot Beman ICS 340, materials to finish woodies didn’t arrive, so I shot potential hog bullets from back up bow.
-
Here is my entry for this week. A 4,6, and 10 for a 20. My top left corner shot was off by 2.75 inches. Top right was 1.75 inches. Bottom left was 1 inch. Bottom right was 6.75 inches.

I shot this week with no warmup. A 10, 6, and 4. In that order....
I had similar results with the bonus round, where my first arrow was my best and I got progressively worse from there. :banghead:
I’ll post this week’s results later today so any stragglers better hurry up and shoot! As a reminder, this shoot is open to everyone each week. :archer:
-
My first arrow is usually my best, as well.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Hi Gang. Here are the week 8 scores. Great shooting all around.
G.R. – 28
Wudstix – 28
Smokin Joe – 26
Trenton G. – 20
EVGB127 – 20
Well, numbers are dwindling, so I think we will wrap this one up on week 10, unless there is renewed interest. That leaves two weeks left for someone to shoot a perfect score. From the past few weeks’ performance, my money is on either G.R. or Wudstix. That said, it’s G.R.’s week to pick the bonus. Let’s have some fun!
-
Congratulations Gary. Great shooting!!!
:campfire:
-
Thanks Wudsticks. Congrats to you also. Nice shooting Sir. I'm going to suggest a bonus shot that's kinda' fun but if you can think of a better one chime in.
Good Shooting.
Gary.
-
Ok all, here's my Idea for the bonus this week. Using our usual target shooting from a distance that's comfortable for you(not more than 15 yds. or less than 5yds.) Shooting three arrows, draw, anchor, close your eyes..... then drop the string. Then add up your score. 'Whuduya' think?
Good Luck All.
-
Blind bonus. So 3 from 15 and 3 bonus?
:coffee: :campfire:
-
That's right Wud.
-
Sounds fun. I’ll let my neighbors know when to stay inside!!!
-
Sorry I missed this week fellas. Gonna try this week.
-
The rain finally stopped so I got to shoot this morning. My score for this week:
8 - 10 - 8
Bonus shots with eyes closed:
6 - 6 - 6

Awesome!!!
:campfire:
-
Great shooting Smokin Joe. I wasn’t able to get out today but my honey do list is wrapped up so tomorrow I will be flinging some arrow. :bigsmyl:
-
Blind hog checking in. It was supposed to be raining all day, but it was sunny so I went out to shoot. Finally shot a 10-10-10.
-
Shot closed eyes from my stool at @11 yards. 8-8-10! Maybe should have tried this before. Evan will have to post.
-
Total.
-
WOW. That is great shooting.
-
Wudstix is a sniper! :archer2: :o

Excellent shooting!
-
Thanks Smoking Joe and Evan. This is not my normal usually throw a couple of the group.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Way to go Wudstix and Evan! I fell apart this week but I'll be back at it next week. Nice shooting everybody!
-
Ah wow. Way to go guys. Set the bar high for this week. Stuck at work all day going be tomorrow before I can shoot.
-
Given the Holiday, we will keep this week’s scoring open until Tuesday.
My shooting was off this week. First, I scored a 16:
For the bonus, another 16..:
About 10 rounds later, finally a 30 with the last arrow (on the bottom) hitting a nock.
:knothead:
-
I definitely was in blind hog mode.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Never admit admit being lucky, just say I meant to do that.
-
Dale it always feels like magic when I pull off a group like that, what is the saying, “better lucky than good”?

Correct. And alway be lucky enough to confuse the issue.
-
Here are the week 9 scores:
Wudstix – 30 / Bonus 26
Smokin’ Joe – 26 / Bonus 18
G.R. – 24 / Bonus 16
EVGB – 16 / Bonus 16
We finally had someone shoot a perfect round. Congratulations Wudstix. Participation has continued to drop so perhaps it is time to wrap this up with one last shoot. What’s in store for us Wudstix?
-
Standard 3 shots from 15 yards your choice. Bonus draw a cross hair in the ten and see if you can hit it from seated position.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Or kneeling from 12 yards.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Woodyweights showed up so I can finish my tapered arrows and see how they fly, may be a little short for broad heads, but hopefully will make 3-D ammo.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
10,8,8,bonus 8. Thanks Evan for getting this thing going and keeping track of all the scores. It's been fun shooting with all you guys, congrats Wudstix on the only perfect score. Now, I'm going to head over to the St. Jude's auction, maybe see some of you guys over there, might even bid.
-
Had a tree I had to cut up today and don’t feel like drawing longbow perhaps tomorrow.
:campfire:
-
Little humble pie this week. Didn’t shoot at all this week. Scored 8, 6, 6. And 6 bonus. Looked like at tight first group from 15 yards. Also shot bonus from 15. First pic is view from 15. Second is up close of score. Not bad first three if you’re shooting at ELK!!!
-
Here are two other pictures of Wudstix’s shooting.
I wouldn’t want to be an elk! :o
-
Glad that nock didn’t blow off on release.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Well, I'm back to getting the "Working Stiff Award" for this past week with no time to shoot for a score.
Between work and the Honey-Do list of home-improvement repairs, time has been at a premium.
Nevertheless, this has been fun. So, thanks to all who participated and made this virtual shoot possible.
I have really enjoyed it, and I look forward to the next one.
:archer2:
-
Here are the Week 10 final scores:
G.R. – 26 / Bonus – 8
EVGB127 – 24 / Bonus – 6
Wudstix – 20 / Bonus – 6
Well, that wraps up our Virtual Shoot. Thank you all for participating. I really appreciated the distraction while my state was “on lockdown.” And, if we ever want to do it again, I’ll happily participate and volunteer as scorekeeper.
Now, as G.R. so aptly point out, it’s time to go spend some money on the St. Jude’s Auction! :campfire:
-
Do we have a placing this week? From the die hards.
:coffee: :campfire:
-
Looks like our posts crossed in the night Wudstix. It’s been fun buddy!
-
Guess I didn’t hit refresh before posting. Until next time then.
:coffee: :campfire: :archer2:
-
Good shooting folks wish I would have been able to participate more.
