Title: Take-down recurve
Post by: Dannon on March 14, 2020, 09:00:53 PM
So I’m thinking about a form for a takedown recurve, does anyone make them with 1 1/2” wide limbs? I know some make them with 1 3/4” limbs but just curious if 1 1/2” will work? Seems like they may twist a little easier. Any thoughts?
Thanks Dannon

Inch and a half will be fine as long as you get everything square. Add some Stabil Kore if your worried, it seems to help. I'm actually working on a 1 1/2 width take down form. Going to try to make a static tip recurve that'll accept longbow limbs on a 15 inch riser.

I think part of it depends on design but I make mine 1 5/8" wide. I plan on trying 1 1/2 one day.

I refinished a Stalker recurve a while back was 1.5. The tips were not profiled back very far at all keeping them stiffer My guess.

I’ve been building an 1 7/16” wide limb for a long time now.
