Title: Arrow Storage
Post by: Gapmaster on April 14, 2008, 12:53:00 AM
I have a bunch of arrows but cannot seem to keep them all in good order. I would love to see pics on how you guys store your arrows in your shop so they are seperated and the feathers and vanes stay in good shape. I need some ideas. I'm tired of dropping them in 5 gallon buckets or leaving them in a quiver that leans on something and messes the feathers up. Thanks, Gapmaster

I use the light defusers from a dropped ceiling
light fixture. One above the other glued to a wooden frame. I think it will hold around 400 if I remember right. Hap

I use a light defuser from a dropped ceiling as hot hap does. You can get a little over a doz arrows in very line and then I go two blank lines to give the space needed for bigger fletch sunch as traditional in 5.5 inch fletch in banana style. I think it cost me about under 10 bucks to make  4 - 36 inch 2 x 4 4 - 2 x 4 in the length of the light defusers, and 2 light defusers. I think they coime in a standar size of 4 foot in length. I have had in use now in my bow shop since 96 and they hold more arrows than any one guy will every have made up. I had one customer cut one of the light difusers in 1/2 for his arrows and he loves it.

Cheap frame, cheap 4" drain pipe, screws to the ceiling joists. One of two in my basement ceiling.

I found a shot of the second one. Same idea, free cardboard tube.

Great for organizing multiple sizes to. Bottom row is 2016-2018-2020-2114-2115-2117

Shoe box filled with Styrofoam.  The holes are measured at equal distances.

That's some great advice from everyone and I appreciate all the ideas. I too, like Snag have a ton of arrows and simply need a better way of keeping them organized.

I also would love to see how you guys are setting up the light defuser if someone would snap some shots and post them. I'm not sure if I'm quit understanding how the defuser is used?

That shoe box with styrofoam is an origional idea too Focusource.
Thanks everyone, Gapmaster  :)

I don't know how to post a picture on here, but in the morning I will take a few and e-mail them to you. I'm at work now. Just found out how to e-mail them last week. I'll also send a picture of how I store my bare shafts. I use a corner Rubbermail tool storage rack that has all kinds of round and rectangle shaped holes in it to store tools. I think it will hold 6oo or 700 bare shafts. I have 2 of those. Hap

I also made up 5 cat scoop away litter tall size plastic tubs by drilling out the top lid in 1/2 inch holes. Now I have my grand kids arrows in one, me and wife  compound arrows in another, my own traditional arrows in another and one for arrows found on my range. Gives you a neet place to store them and easy to get to. I have them stored on the floor in the garage.

I'm guessing the diffuser is a homemade version of these.

I got those pics Hot Hap. Now I see what you were talking about. Now I need to go find those things. Maybe Home Depot? That is way better than what I have been doing. Thanks for the advice and pics. Gapmaster  :)

I've had light diffuser setting around for years to make an arrow caddy. Would like to see pics of how you put them together.

I turn cardboard boxes upside down and drill holes in the bottom and put an individual arrow in each hole. Works really well.
