Tom and I went out to a state park in NJ and, in keeping with the laws of the great state of NJ which doesn't allow stump shooting, went hunting for groundhogs. Alot of our shots missed the groundhogs, but hit some NJ style stumps.

And a new jersey treestand.

Notice Tom's brand new Steven Catts quiver in the second set of pics. Sweet quiver!
Catts makes some nice stuff, for sure. That pic of the NJ treestand is a classic! Hunting this year I saw something similar - it was an old one piece school desk, you know, the kind where the chair and desk are attached? It was about 10 feet up a tree. I'm guessing the owner was using the desktop for a rest, LOL
Nice looking arrows Deadbolt...Looks like one of your old treestands Scott!!!
Excellent groundhog hunt pdk25. Looks like you were hitting the targets well. What is the weight rating on that treestand?

Scott - I thought I was the only one who had ever seen one of those. I found the same thing about 16 feet up a tree but it was 2/3 up the mountainside here in VA.
Had a blast pat them damn hogs were fast though LOL!!!
Joe Skipp I'm sealing up my cedars now to fletch them babies up I'll post pix of them next week hopefully!
And that quiver is awsome man I love that thing...it finally formed to my back and I could do a back flip and them arrows are stuck LOL.
Looks like a good time, Joe and I found an old bottle dump last fall were going to hit it this spring for some action.
Looks like you guys had a blast. Kind of reminds me of some year round "coyote hunting" I do in PA. :bigsmyl:
Is there really a law against stump shooting? Where's the snow?
Bill
About the only good thing about NJ is that they don't get much of a winter. It's been along time since there's been snow on the ground.
I have the same problem with them dang NJ ground hogs as you fellas ...lol

Haha I was sweating my butt off it was 75 today snow has been long gone in central NJ...come to think of it did we even get any? LMAO
Nice pictures.
I would declare this event as collecting all the garbage those idots leave or dispose in the woods.
While getting some firewood out of the forest next to my home I found three flat bottles which are normally filled with heavy booze. We call them "Flachmann" = "flatman".
It's a shame that our environment is almost destroyed by this garbage while NJ has no other idea than to forbid stumpshooting.
You have to be joking about it being illegal to stump shoot in NJ :scared:
it looks like a great time but the fact that you had more garbage to shoot at than stumps is a little disturbing.
You guys make it seem like NJ is one big dump. I'm sure there is garbage to be found in any state.
It's not that stump shooting is illegal. It's just that "target practice" is illegal on public land, except on designated ranges.
On private land you can stump shoot all you want. On public land, you better be legally hunting if you're carrying a weapon in the woods.
Which essentially translates into illegal on public land because you are only allowed to hunt with broadheads in NJ.
Other than the garbage, It looks like nice land. What park were you at? Thanks Mike.
NJ isn't all that bad but this state park gets used by mountain bikers, joggers, horse back riders, hikers etc etc cost free and they bring all their garbage in and throw it all over. The hunters normally end up clean it up in our own special wayu LOL.
Wish I was there boys! Looks like a great day!
Heya bud your always welcome! Its either a 3D or garbage collecting on sundays here :p
Tom (both of you), once I get feeling better we should get a group together for some stump shooting.

Yes and no. I don't think anybody would give you a hard time for carrying a couple of arrows with judos or blunts, as long as you also had a couple of BHs for "groundhog hunting".
I ALWAYS have a couple of hex heads in my quiver. Never had any troubles.
I wasn't aware of the Jersey law about stumpshooting. One afternoon, I was waiting for my buddy Bamboo to get off work in Jersey and I took a stroll in the State Park stumpshooting.
A few hours later when I was returning, I seen the Fish&Game car drive by where Mike works. He never seen me or he would have stopped...since I had a backquiver full of arrows. It was later that Mike informed me of Jersey laws. Be prepared....carry a few broadheads for those chucks...
Good stuff guys!! Looks like a great time!!
Eric yea man let me know when your ready we will pick a day and fling em bud!
Oh and remember no hunting on sundays! I love NJ only place a man can shoot his kid dead and walk away free as a bird but a man who want to shoot some rotten stumps in the middle of no where loses all privliges for life!
