Just curious for those who have shot both, I have a Hoyt buffalo and love the way it shoots, but it does seem a little loud. For those that have shot both would you say the satori suffers the same issue or is it quieter?

They’re essentially the same bow with the exception of how the limbs fit (the Buffalo is Formula and Satori is ILF).
My Buffalo is really quiet now, but I had to put small limb savers, wool puffs in the string and increased the brace height to right at 8”
In my experience, it’s not an inherently quiet bow, but you can get it there and it’s worth it because of how smooth it shoots. I’ve actually put my Bear Take-Down away because it’s just not as comfortable or consistent.

Sure, I did the riser a camo green and then sponged the limbs

The only thing I’d have done differently if given a do-over is to use a tan rather than brown as my base coat. As it is, the green doesn’t stand out much from the brown, so it doesn’t break up the pattern as much as I’d like.

Thanks. I’ve had it for a few years and really like the way it shoots, but got tired of black on black and Hoyt’s finish was terrible.

Unless youve sourced some oly formula limbs for the Buff the Satori is superior IMO just by virtue that your limb choices are unlimited.

I have the Satori riser with Uuhka VX1000 limbs on it. It is very quiet. I've had several comments from other archers on how quiet it is. My brace height is set at 7.5 inches and I have two sets of the Black Widow spider string silencers on the string. My arrow weight is 9 grains per pound.

The decision to go with Formula rather than ILF was dumb. They claim that the formula design is more stable, but it’s really just to make sure you have to buy limbs from Hoyt because nobody makes them.
I suppose Uukha makes a conversion kit that makes their limbs fit Formula, but it’s not native.
That said, the original question was whether it’s quiet or not and I’d have to say that in my experience, they’re the same.
If I was making the choice NOW, I’m not sure which direction I’d go as someone who doesn’t buy several sets of limbs because you can get a used Buffalo for half what a Satori that shoots exactly the same costs. I suppose I’d probably drop the extra coin for the option, but I don’t know that it’s a $400 problem?

have both brace for me 8 and 1/8 inch limb savers and puff balls on at about 8 and half from tip plus personal choice arrows are at 13 grains per inch 32" with 31" draw this is what works for me hope it helps

Dennis Kamstra column is Traditional Bowhunter magazine provided a tip which works to quiet bows. Put string silencers at unequal distances from limb tips, example; place top one 10 inches and place bottom one 5 inches This works well.

I have owned a buffalo, and currently shoot the satori. They both like a higher BH, 8.25 or slightly more, and they quieted right down. Hoyt limbs, and D97 strings.

I had a buffalo for a few years and got it very quiet. I ditched it in 2012 and went all ILF and don't regret it at all. My buffalo limbs seemed to lose cast or maybe it was because the ILF limbs had more cast.

I have shot a buffalo since Hoyt released them one fine shooting bow if properly tuned they are quiet. Satori is a great bow as well. Enjoy what you shoot.
