Many moons ago, actually it was back in autumn 2015 Roy and I made a trade with bow building materials.
Two Osage slats have been sitting on a shelf until now, so it is about time.
Will make a RD trilam, Osage belly, Jatoba powerlam, Purpleheart center and bamboo back. It is now clamped up. Did it a little different this time by gluing up the Osage, powerlam and Purpleheart and will add the bamboo later.

Damn that's an awesome piece of Osage....
Wuz the best I had and I wanted you to have it, Bue...
Looking forward to the build process..
Bue gifted me a dozen of the finest wooden arrow shafts I ever seen, and some bow material...
-
Very nice looking forward to seeing your results !
-
Bettin this bow is gonna be nice.
Roy and Bues hmmmm could we get a jingle out of this :bigsmyl:
-
I can't see any pictures bue
-
Looks like photobucket is up to something again!
-
No pictures hmm, I can see them , but maybe Photobucket is up to something again. I have tried to use the attachments and other options here on TG, but it do not work. Looks like Tapatalk can no longer be used either.

Bue
Imgur.com
-
imgur you can load them there then copy and paste here
-
Do you guy's need to use a photo hosting service, or could you load them from your computer?
-
I load them straight from my pc, But they need to be the proper size so they don't time out when uploading.
But photobucket sucks.
Imgur.com is a good photo transfer app.
So I refer guys who can't seem to get photos right to imgur.com
Bue do you have the app Mspaint in your pc?
Its standard with windows.
Very simple to resize pictures smaller with mspaint.
-
I do all my pics with my phone now and use tapatalk to load pics.
-
Tapatalk automatically resizes the pictures.
-
I can see :bigsmyl:
Awesome bue
-
Iseen them a couple of days ago but not now.
-
I do not use Windows so no Mspaint.
How come Tapatalk can be used from IPhone, but not from IPad. The Tapatalk sign is on TG on the iphone, but not on the iPad.
-
I do not know, Bue.
Maybe contact tapatalk support.
What's you use in place of windows?
-
I use Mac, IPhone and iPad.
-
I’ll try to post a pic from Tapatalk on my iPhone
-
It worked, I’ll post the first two pics again since some cannot see them

Thats some crazy looking grain on the Osage.
-
:scared: bue, you need a fork lift to move that R/D jig :o
-
Good job, Bue.
Nice form too.

How bout a side picture of the d/r Bue?
-
Will do when all the clamps are removed tomorrow.
-
Good grief... the floor in your shop is nicer than the floor in my house!
Good looking bow build.
OkKeith
-
What did you do for a living bue?
I want to see the form too. :bigsmyl:
-
I can see all pics now Bue nice adjustable form ! Bue do you taper your Boo ? & what do you use to taper or thickness your boo ?
-
Did a little more today. Roy here a pic of the RD shape. When the blank is 66 inches ttt the tips are 1 inch in front of back of handle.
Forwardhandle, I first flatten the bamboo full width on the jointer, then cut the width roughly to finished bow shape and taper it by hand on the bandsander. About 1/8 inch at center to 1/16 inch at tips.
Bubinga strip that will be cut in several 12-13 inch pieces for glued on handle

-
Thats nice bue
-
Very nice, Bue.
I like the power lam idea..
-
Bubinga strips 13 inches long 1/8 inches thick to be glued on the Osage belly as handle. I find it easier to get a perfect fit against the belly useing thin flexible strips, instead of one piece of wood. A bit more glueing though

Looks nice, Bue.
-
Looking good bue
What kind of machine is that the bow is laying on?
-
Belgian made Robland, combination jointer, planer, router, circular saw and mortiser
-
What's it weigh, Bue?
Bout 700 pounds?
-
I’ll bet it weighs at least half a ton. That’s a 12” jointer if I’m not mistaken. I have an old combo machine, 10” jointer, saw and mortiser and I can barely move it. And that’s with the saw table removed.
Dave.
-
About 1100 pounds, all solid cast iron tables. When I had the house built I made them reinforce the floor where it is located. It has three 3 horsepower motors. A good sturdy machine that has served me well. :)
-
Awesome Machine
They don't make them that good anymore.
-
Better finish this one.

-
Starting to look okay, a bit more adjusting to be done. Right limb is bending a bit more than left,or?
Drawn to 26, three more to go.

-
How'd the bow turnout, specs and pics. :bigsmyl:
-
Got lost in some wood piles, have to dig it out again. :bigsmyl:
-
Bue, that thing looks to have a massive handle. Is that typical on a Tri-lam?
-
Flem, the glued on handle is 12 1/2 long. Total thickness including lams is about 1 1/4 and width an inch or slightly less. Fades will be thinned out some. Don’t know what others use, perhaps Roy will chime in.
-
Finished at last.

64 ntn 40 pounds at 29 inches. No full draw picture since nobody to take a pic tonite.
I am bringing a few bows to the Norwegian longbow championship tomorrow, so it may not come home again.
-
Looks good.
