Figured this morn would be great with snow on the way but the deer must have went to bed early. Saw a yote and a spike . Of course the spike came by at 14 yards and the yote at 40. Couldn’t squeak him in so he must have had an early breakfast too.
Great morn tho, 20 degrees and light steady wind to keep scent going the right way...

Yep, hunted a few hours this morning. Saw 6 or 8, two could have been repeats.
Saw a decent buck chasing two does, little second rut action. Getting ready to head back out, hopefully they will be moving before this approaching storm.
-
That’s what I was hoping for, but think they finished up before daylite .
Good luck !!
-
Still hot after them...hunt 66 this afternoon
My action has been very good in the late season. Typically, the action picks up the week of Christmas and extends thru the end of season.
-
Ya, still after them, saw 8 Friday afternoon, 0 yesterday, today still debating it's 6 right now and only going to get colder! Maybe, Maybe not.
-
It’s getting deep. Snowshoeing in.

Two weeks left. Hoping for one more shot. Will be out in the morning.
-
Our season just reopened. I have until the end of the year. It has been raining so the stalking is much better.

-
I don’t see how you guys that hunt way up north can do it!!!!!
I’m still at it. I have a buck I’ve been playing cat and mouse with for a month. Hopefully, he will slip up before the season ends on Jan 5th!!!

Yep you guys farther north are dedicated!
I'm hoping the second rut will get going while I'm off work for a few days.
-
A little......but not as much as I want to be.
Would love to have some snow and colder temps to get the deer moving in daylight. Gun season ended just a week ago so deer are pretty nocturnal.
-
Bisch, deer hunting is SUPPOSED to be done in the cold. Nothing like being over dressed, freezing, teeth chattering, snot running cold. And December in the north east is the best time to do it.
-
Saw 5 when I went to check cameras yesterday....
-
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Saw this pic, so I'll still be chasing....
-
PA firearms just closed. Late season archery and flintlock, aka REAL muzzleloaders, coming in Dec 26th.
Never successful in late season but I keep trying...
-
Still going but not strong - down to a few single afternoon hunts - one tag left but freezer is full so I’m good if I don’t fill it. Fished for trout and scouting ducks so starting to transition to winter endeavors. Yeah you guys in snow I loved it as a kid but I moved south in 86. That would be tough for me now but I still love a fresh tracking snow and think about it from time to time. Our season closes Jan 1 - I’m taking a nap soon after!!!
-
I thought the same thing for this evening as the snow came in about 5ish. Not a single deer. Guess they bedded up early.
-
Every day but man its cold ! Yesterday it never got above zero . My son shot a nice one this afternoon .
-
Still hunting but after today I’m taking a break till Christmas I’m pretty beat down from the last 2 1/2 months of bowhunting almost every day. Our season ends Feb 28th so still lots of time. I agree on the northern guys , I couldnt take much hunting in that kind of cold .
-
I’m going in morn if it works out. Gonna hit the ground game tomorrow and try out a sapper jacket I bought awhile back ...
Good luck to you all!! I’m still seeing bucks, this snow may narrow down where to be...
-
I’m after them still but not as hard. I’ve been seeing 4 small bucks running together and saw 8 does crossing my field about 8:00 this morning. This time of year it gets hard to have time to get out with all the family things.
-
Nope, I'm done. Only drew a 7 day tag for my PHL land.
-
Still at it kenny lots of seat time no luck just the early season doe I killed still have another doe and buck tag lots of scrub bucks is all i saw on stand
-
Be back at it next weekend . Shot s hog couple weeks back but lost it in the rain . Freezer is full thanks to my sons 4 deer.

My yearly state of depression has started.......yesterday was the last day for us in New Hampshire. Ugh.
David
-
I've still been after them as much as time allows. I've had to work the past 5 days, but I'll be back at it again tomorrow morning. I'm having good luck getting on the bucks, just haven't taken a shot yet. Maybe tomorrow will be different. Either way, I really enjoy this time of year to be out hunting.
-
Got to hunt last night.
Saw 10, 9 of which were does that are now off-limits to shoot as of (Dec. 14th.) (1 day before)
A little 6 ptr was only a step or two away from coming with me.
Maybe get to hunt one more time before it is all over.
-
Season here ends tomorrow and they are calling for freezing rain from 5am through tomorrow night. I’m gonna suck it up and go out in the morning for my last hurrah of the season.
-
Stay with em guys!! Life kept me from going this morn, maybe later today tho...
Man be careful with freezing rain , especially if on a treestand!!!
-
I am - I hit a very large buck high and forward in the shoulder on 11/9. Arrow all but bounced off of him... No excuse beyond pure buck fever :bigsmyl: He's now back on the trail cameras so I'm still trying to hunt as often as I can hoping to get a second chance.
It's amazing how bad your shot can be with traditional equipment when you don't follow through on your form! LOL
-
I have a couple doe tags still to fill and the weather has been pretty decent for this time of year (10-25F). Hunted on place I have permission to only shoot does on last Thursday and Friday evenings. I saw 25-30 deer each time with 10 being bucks on Thursday night. (3) of the bucks were 5 x 5 roughly 135-140" class coming to an unpicked soybean field. Does on this place are not as easy as a person would think with a lot of eyes and noses. They also tend to come to the field in a variety of spots. Should be able to get out a couple of more times before the seasons end on 1/1.
-
I went Saturday morning. Had a small doe come in right at daylight. She acted like she was walking on eggshells nervous as she could be. Got her just right and started to draw and she looked right at me. I finished my draw and shot. She did some crazy dodge and spin and I missed.
My son was in another part of our place and saw two different groups of 4. No shots for him too many eyes. Man it’s tough hunting right now.
-
David, it’s been one of those years in Ark . I’ve had several deer bust me this year and had friends say the same.. not sure what’s up. But with Little to no cover in the trees it’s hard to not look like a gorilla on a flagpole.
Last week I had a nice 10 point at 18 yards spot me in the tree but continued on only to string jump me pretty bad.
-
Too much snow in the woods up here at this point to get to my spots. Besides they've all moved to the swamp on private ground. However once finals are done this week and I can head home for break, I'll be out as much as possible. I love hunting the last week or so of season. Pretty much have the woods to myself, there's snow on the ground, and the deer are a bit easier to pattern.
-
Done for deer. Got drawn for early season (archery) on government land, but was not able to get out. Did not put in for general season drawing. Still have permit for hogs and exotics though, so there is hope, through May 2020.
-
So far the only ones in range have been either too small or have not offered an ethical shot angle. So, I may still have time once or twice before the season ends to get out and see what I can do.
-
Went tonite on the ground, struck out on deer but saw a big bobcat.
-
I'm headed out in the morning. I have not been able to get a doe in range for a month now. I need one more for the freezer.
-
Done, up here! Time to work on bows!
-
I think I'm done here. The snow is deep and its cold enough the deer are staying close to food. Unfortunately it's in the subdivision nearby in the form of bird feeders. Besides got a deal on a steer this week. 800 lbs of beef cheaper than deer season
-
Just getting started, got til the end of Jan..
-
Looking forward to late season..deer grouped up and food sources starts day after Christmas till January 17th
-
Never give up!! I sat in a fencerow tonite and had over a dozen within easy shooting range. We have meat in the freezer so was hoping to see a good buck.
Best one was an ear width 7 that needs a year. He was about 20 yds.
I was on ground testing a Sapper kill suit I bought after seeing a discussion on here. Set up between 2 osage trees about 6 ' apart, nothing out front to speak of and only buckbrush and a pasture behind.
Some big nannies came by and one looked me over and took a step to me but then went on. Right before dark a smaller 8 was hazing a little doe , she came by at a fast walk 5' in front of me and the buck stopped 12' from me and nibbled on stuff. I turned my head a little to check out a noise and he head bobbed me twice and went back to nibbling stuff.
I don't remember who recommended that sapper suit but thank you!! I think with some proper back cover and a tree or two in fromt for drawing it will be awesome!!
-
Headed out this weekend. Weather is low 30s at night, mid 50s during the day. We have until 15JAN20 to archery hunt. Lisa and I have already put two does in the freezer so far. Holding out for a buck until the last weekend or so and will punch another doe tag then.
I passed on this three and a half year old the first week of November.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
THIS is the feller I am looking for. He was still chasing does (or chasing them again) the first week of December.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
My tactics have changed. I have moved some blinds and a stand off the edges and into the thick stuff.
OkKeith
-
Our late season doesn't even start yet. It its the whole month of January. I have one doe tag left but I don't think I need the meat. I have to evaluate the freezer room.
Tedd
-
I want to be out but can’t until after Christmas now. I saw a nice, but young 4X4 three weeks ago.
-
I missed the main rut because of “work” . Which is way overrated I might add!
But second rut is in full swing! I’ve scouted out some new ground on public and plan a couple of all day sits before season ends

I is...I is... I is still after em.
Looking forward to this afternoon's hunt...
Still have a month to hunt.
-
I have until the end of January...but Im getting pretty anxious as I have no meat in the freezer yet!

(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191220/396a88cda0b9681f7f2250e6a547269f.png). Hog hunting yesterday . Deer closed at this w m a but saw plenty of deer here is a couple Chilling in the grass . Walked away and they never moved .

Got some time to go before it ends but I am kinda wore out. Cant walk like I need to. I may still give it a shot or two if the weather stays warmer....
Getting old sucks.
-
go'in in the morning. One buck tag and two doe tags left with a 4pt in the freezer.
-
Killed a doe a couple days ago. That wraps up the deer hunting, but I still have turkeys, coyotes, and cats to go after.
-
Gave a pass to a plump fawn at 12 yards tonight, was tempting.
-
Hope ours will start chasing in about 3 weeks. I got the fever!
-
Sat Monday Evening in the snow. Saw over 20 deer. 4 bucks. 2 of the better bucks were chasing a fawn from 3:15 til dark within a 100 yards of me at all times. Passed on 2 button bucks. I love late season but by me, evenings are far better than mornings. Hoping to get out tomorrow evening!
-
Hung a stand today on a travel route to an unpicked beanfield they are liking very well. Saw 7 does on the way back to house so decided to hunt it tomorrow instead of tonite since they were on their feet already.
-
Was about to loose an arrow this afternoon then realized it was a four point.
Identifying small racks is not always easily discerned when viewed thru mesh in lower light conditions.
Perhaps there will be some fine action tomorrow afternoon.
-
Went in for the kill tonite. Sure thing for sure...
Guess you know the rest, skunked!!!
-
Still giving it a whirl here in northern Illinois. Will be off though until this coming Friday.....Christmas and family calls. Then at it again until January 2nd when my wife and I head down to Mexico for a week of Coues’ deer hunting. Happy Holidays.
-
Will be in the blind before daylight tomorrow morning to catch them coming back from the fields.
-
Still at it here. Wishing I hadnt passed up so many in October. I'd even sling an arrow at a doe.
-

Kenny, does that Sapper Kill Suit have a zipper closure or pullover? I’m having real difficulty getting in to my pullover ghillie. Need a zipper closure. Thanks
-
We're having an unusual warm spell here in WI. I'll be heading out on the 26-27th. Maybe back again for a few days 1st week of Jan.
-
Just hung a new set over a dropping pin oak. Good bucks on camera using it. Now waiting for correct wind.
-
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191223/e55d3ab32cd425f6384fa38ede436b2e.jpg). No snow down here
saw one buck yesterday and got close on a pig but the wind was swirling and he busted me . And turkeys all over the place .

It has snaps so I leave bottom couple undone to keep it out of the way of bowstring when sitting. did some trimming on bow arm and chest on that side. Netting of jacket is camo under so still looks fine...
-
Thanks, Kenny do you have the long coat version?
-
I sat a stand for the first time Saturday morning. No wind, well I thought. What little wind was swirling. I was in the bottom draw of my place about 50 yards from my food plot. Got busted by 4 doe. Couldn't have seen me. Had to have caught my scent. I'm still after em.
-
Missed another coyote Saturday afternoon. No deer.
Heard one deer walking in the crunchy ice-snow this morning. Didn't see it.
8 more days, hope to get out on five of them.
-
Thanks, Kenny do you have the long coat version?
Yep no pants , plenty long cuz I’m short . Goes below knees on me. I bought the desert camo so it wouldn’t be too dark . Wish I could see the woodland in person...
-
Me
-
Me too. I’m in a stand right now. Been seeing a lot of does and the same 4 little bucks.
-
So last night I had a doe and dawn come in. She was pretty jumpy and when she finally gave me a chance she ducked my arrow. That doesn’t happen very often for me. She still hung around for a while though but when she finally took off she took the 6 more deer that were coming toward me with her. Quite a bit later I’m seeing some more deer headed my way. They end up finally working in to right in front of me. But I’m really after a doe after killing a nice buck early. This is what happens when you don’t want to shoot.
-
il be out for a doe or two after today.
-
Our season ends on December 31. I got a small buck on October 24 and had to shoot a doe in order to take another buck. Couldn’t get in range until last evening. Took a young doe. Now I can hunt the bucks I’ve Been having to pass on!
-
I’m headed out to the back corner of our place in a bit. Not figuring on seeing anything...(reverse psychology ) LOL
-
Changed my mind and went to another spot, this should really confuse em!!!
-
That reverse psychology stuff has never worked for me. The deer always seem to figure it out!
-
Headed out Friday for a weekend in the Bush with my hunting partner. Last year the spot was great. We shall see.
-
You still skinnin them all Kenny??
Heading out shortly w the vintage 59......hope they are stirring despite the heat....
Tim B
-
Tim, skunked again!! I need time to scout a bit!
-
They say it’s 2x as important as huntin.....I s hard not to hunt when I get the time tho....
Tim B
-
I tried hunting the stand behind the house ( it's about 300 yards back) and saw nothin. Just found out the nephew down the road has been running his rabbit hound back there. No deer for me.
-
I think my work is gonna slow up a bunch now, so I still have til Jan 15 to see if I can find a buck...
Good luck guys!! :)
-
I love how trails start showing up after most of the leaves have fallen. This trail led to blind placement and a nice doe. Seen 6 on Christmas Eve.
-
I is...I is...I is still after them.
Have been working with a gentleman in shooting a traditional bow. He is now hunt ready. Planning to guide him
on his first traditional bow hunt Monday afternoon. Am certainly hopeful he has a shot opportunity.
-
Windy this morn so went in the thick stuff . Had a big doe and her fawn drift by at 35 yds, too far for me.
Later another unidentified deer came in and finally cleared the big cedar tree west of me at 15 yards , looked my way and I saw it wasn't a button, so started the draw when it looked away. Halfway to anchor she turned and walked straight away! LOL
So I sat awhile, ate a snack and drank the coffee I packed in , then dragged out my predator call and squeaked around on it for 20 minutes. About 10 minutes in a squirrel got all bent out of shape about 40 yards out. Nothing ever came of it so I packed it in …
Nice morning to be alive and in the woods!!
-
I have a group hunting at Kenny’s. This morning my son saw 12 does. Mike saw a nice buck and 4 does. Aaron is not back yet but text that he had two bucks chasing a doe. One was grunting. I saw none. LOL. Chad
-
Good luck guys. We have only 2 days left. I hope to hunt both days. I have one buck tag left, and won’t be too picky.
-
I was out Saturday for an all day sit in my Saddle, as a last hurrah for me for 2019. season ends tomorrow but its raining/freezing rain/snow today & tomorrow.
I got a fourth arrow camera arm on friday from the saddlehunter dot com classifieds and Saturday was my first attempt at self filming with my DSLR. in Mass you can hunt till 1/2 hour after sunset, but I realized up in the saddle that my headlamp batteries had died.....so, filming squirrels & a pileated woodpecker was fun, but I started packing it up the camera about 15 min before end of legal shooting, and spooked a deer I hadn't seen...it took off like a bat outta hell. the right at last light, had the same 3 (doe & 2 fawns) come out to feed in the field 80 yards away. Lil' too far for my recurve. lol
I'm still going to edit the footage as a 'keepsake of my first video hunt'.
-
I'm done for the year but I did get a set in last week and saw this guy.
He knew I didn't have another tag so he just came by to stick his tongue out at me.
-
Nice one Badlands!
-
Had a doe and fawn come in five minutes too late Sunday afternoon. Legal ends at sunset, they kept me hunkered down until 5pm, before finally getting down wind and busting out.
Tomorrow is last day, last chance. I'll hunt the afternoon as I always do on last day. I'll watch the sun set on another season, and start scouting and preparing for next season and planning for spring turkeys. Good luck to all that are still at it.
-
2 does came by my blind this evening. Both winded me, so I left as soon as they went out of sight. There are a couple young bucks using the same trail and I didn’t want to spook them. Tomorrow is our last day of the season. One more try!
-
I haven't been putting a lot of time in, but there are still a couple weeks of deer season. This year has been special as I have gotten pictures of the biggest deer I've ever seen on any of the places I hunt. They are hopelessly nocturnal. Like Ol Debo here.
BigJim
-
Then there's ezell!
BigJim
-
Pictures of Debo and Ezell were taken by the same camera at the same location!
Then there's Drac..
He's located on another property.
BigJim
-
All of those cagey bucks have only showed their face in the daylight ..for me once each. One while I was hunting in Alberta, another while I was hunting in Kansas and the third while I was building bows.
I was fortunate to take this beautiful buck... estimated to be at least 7.5 years old in Kansas this year.
BigJim
crud! I can't get my Kansas buck picture to post..
-
Those are some great bucks Jim!
-
fnshtr… I know! and so do they!
I've been trying to post a picture of bucks that Clint (my office salesman) and I killed in Kansas but even after resizing them, can't get them to post... really frustrating.
BigJim
-
In the dark or not, I can still hunt these rascals!
BigJim
-
Nice bunch of pic's Jim....
-
Thanks Bruce. It's been an exceptional year even if I have only been in the field maybe 15 times.
The deer have been very exciting. My Kansas trip was beyond imaginable, Alberta was fantastic too, but to get these wonderful critters on camera has been icing on the cake.
The pigs are starting to take over the feeders and I expect that the deer will go in to hiding for awhile.
Having said that, I've never seen so many deer on my lease or my house property. Bunches of pigs however are fairly common place... unless I decide to go hunting. Then they seem to get the memo.
BigJim
-
Its been 6 years since I seen these pigs.. wonder if they are still alive or maybe they exploded from over eating!
BigJim
-
From the pic I’ll say they exploded! Good pics big Jim! Stay after them
Tim B
-
All of my mature bucks have gone off the radar. So I’m trying to fill a doe tag tonight.
-
Out tonite to where I saw a bunch two nites ago. Nada ...
-
Stump73 and I will be after them in the morning
-
Zip for me, not even a squirrel. I'm done. Even the sunset didn't cooperate, it was overcast.
-
Season over here in WV. I got to my blind at 7:10am yesterday morning (last day). Pulled my trailcam on my way back in at 11. A 6 point walked by my blind at 7am.
Last evening I still-hunted. Seen 7 including a small 5 or 6 point. No shots. Had a decent 2019. 2 pigs in February, my first Trad turkey in April, 2 elk hunts in September and 2 deer in the fall.
I’ll be reading about your hunts now... until I return to Florida for a pig hunt in February.
LOL. (Lots of luck)!
-
Season in MN closed yesterday at 5:09pm. I went out at 2:45 to a farm that I'm allowed to shoot does only which is what I was looking for a sausage deer. Through out the sit I had several deer come within 20 yds, All bucks! The does kept their distance. Two bucks were 1 horned and 1 had dropped both sides, he almost got shot, while drawing on him I saw the pedicles and let down. It's been a good year! I've still got 10 days in Iowa and will going down this afternoon.
-
Congrats again Jim On the KS buck. Those are some dandys on your lease. Didn't imagine they got that big down there. Good luck.
-
I don't know how but was able to post yer pic.all my others are too big usually
-
Nicw one Jim !
Saw 19 does and a buck at 8 yards this morn. The buck I wanted had to have a look over the ridge and that took him to 35 yards then came back to the trail behind the 8 does he was shadowing . Luck was his today! LOL
-
Congrats Big Jim... that’s a dandy!

I got out this afternoon for a little bit. Took my eight year old daughter so I wasn’t expecting much action. We saw six deer in a field on the way to my hunting area and we’re excited! No activity where we went though! But my daughter did really well sitting with me and had a lot of fun looking at tracks and trimming brush. If I had let her I think she would have clear cut the entire patch of woods so no twigs could touch her!
-
Excellent deer Big Jim
-
Congrats Jim, that's a dandy!
Season ended here today. Saddest day of the year. Seems like the sun sets a little bit faster on the last day. I wait all year for season to get here, and just like that it's over again. Now it's nine months of day dreaming until it's back.
-
bunyan...time with the kids is better than killing anything anytime...bet she enjoyed her time with dad
-
Our season ended yesterday - but, we do have an urban season here and I have access to a qualifying property. That season is Jan. 11th through Feb. 16th so I'll get a couple more sits in during that time. I've never had any success during that urban season, but I truly treasure those stress-free hours sitting in the woods.
-
Still after em…
Buuut since all the lease hunts are over , I went over to the lease and took a seat and shot a decent 8 point.
Need to go buy a lotto ticket about now...
-
 pictures?

Big Jim:
Nice KS deer. Did you give him a bath before that pic ? LOL
We are pretty much done for the year. Still have a bunch of does in the yard but only one buck now. I am pretty sure we had someone slip in on our north fence here at the house and get one or two 150+ class bucks that we were watching. I have had to run some folks off down at Mom and Dads place. They were sneaking in from the south end. I dont think they hurt anything but ya know how that goes.
Nice bunch of hogs ya got there man.
-
Thanks guys, have had to work so far this week. Supposed to be done for winter after tomorrow and bow season is winding down! I have 2 tags in my pocket still for does...
-
Enjoyed a fine outing yesterday afternoon.
Saw eleven deer....had two bucks pushing five does at a pretty good clip at 35 yards out. The lead buck appeared to be a mature 4 1/2 year old shooter.
Will give them another go tomorrow afternoon.
-
Congrats Kenny! Keep after them Friend. Late season is tough, but I’m sure success is doubly rewarding!
-
Well, I'm off work til about March now, and it's pouring rain and then 3-5" of snow and .3" of ice …
But I have a plan for the last 4 days of season...
-
I’m still after them, but I think they found out I was after them and left the county!!!!! The last 3 sits, I have seen one button buck and one yearling 3pt!
I’m in a blind as I type this, hoping one will slip up this afternoon!!!!!
Bisch
-
Bisch, this time of year it is usually feast or famine. If you see any, there will usually be a bunch.
I got a super stand near some standing beans by the road that the deer come to when the more hidden fields are covered. About Tuesday if the wind is right I'll be there...

Got til the 20th here....got a little more room in the freezer.

Feb 2 is our last day.
Weather here has been warm and wet. Still waiting on some cold weather and snow to get this guy up and moving before dark.

I’m still getting after them a bit. Finally shot a good sized doe Wednesday evening. The shot wasn’t as good as I thought so after coming up on her 4 hours later still alive but bedded I left her and came back Thursday morning for the recovery. The hit was a little further back than I thought. Ended up in the liver. But made it work.

My season ended yesterday in Iowa without seeing a deer. Now it's probably 3 years before I'll draw again. I had a good year, shot a doe and passed on several bucks waiting for the BIG guy! No regrets at not shooting a buck as I'd made up my mind to get one bigger than any I've already taken and the 2 I saw which were bigger never got in range. I did see a real monster a couple times while driving on the Mn side so I have to do some checking on permission.

I wished I was still after them our seasons over, now I have PSOSD (post season over stress disorder) !
-
Yes. Just took a young doe last night...hope to be in stand again on Wednesday which is the last day of our season here in Okie.
-
I wanted to be tonite but my stands are all ice covered and my ground spots show little traffic so hopin for ice to melt tomorrow !! Season ends Wednesday ...
-
Saw 2 does then 1 lone doe none close enough. Got till the end of the month.
-
Yeah. A bit of nasty weather here too. Will have to get out one more evening before end of season

I think I'd take the snow over this miserable cold drizzle...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200114/70097ff12bd8b21dd495f81baca257b4.jpg)

Nothin tonight but the wind, and the snow, and the ice melting above my stand, so a cold rain with ice chunks in it all evening!! Gotta love it! LOL
They went to the beans but not past me!

Are you going to the Texas Shoot Out Kenny? Seems like every one I meet down there is from Missouri ...

I wish!!!! Sold and bought a house in October, moved and father-in-law passed in November, cleaned out his house and put on market and holidays through December which also closed out our Michigan season. Deer less year for me and probably the first time in 40 years. Hopefully things get back to normal next year!!!
I did take a walk right after the season ended and let’s just say I have four new very promising spots for next year!!!
-
Went back to my roots last night and quit being a big buck hunter and started meat huntin. Grunted a small buck in at a trot.....and my new to me vintage 1959 Kodiak let her fly.

Congrats to all the late season success . Good luck to those still after em.

Think I'm all done, calling for rain in morning, then 20 mph wind and dropping 20 degrees tomorrow afternoon.
-
Congrats Tim....nice harvest....

Thanks boys.....here’s your story arro30. I had just set up in a strip of woods that lies between 2 wheat fields. The strip is about 40 yds wide and 300 long and connects two larger patches of woods.....it’s about the perfect spot and I passed a dang lotta deer there in the few times I hunted it trying to kill one of the big ones.
Anyway 3 days left and I still got a pocket full of tags and out comes a doe and small buck in the wheat to the NW. I thought what the heck I’ll give him a grunt. He pops his head up and stares......then comes running right at me.....wasent expecting that so scrambling for my bow....he came on my right side and as he passed I shot him quartering.....watched him pile up in the wheat. It was an exciting hunt.
One more hunt tonight and I’ll be back in the same spot if the wind stays good!

We have one weekend left. Doe and spike only although young spikes are not targets.
Thank goodness it year round pigs.
But I'll be out there Saturday and Sunday.

What a great thread! Thanks for starting it... and all who chimed in. I’m still following you guys.

I think I’m done with one tag to eat. I may get a chance to go Sunday afternoon, which is the last afternoon of the General Season, but with in-law issues, I’m not holding my breath!!!!
