Title: Question on Antler bur bolts
Post by: buckeyebowhunter on December 10, 2019, 05:39:57 PM
I ordered a set of the fake antler bur bolts from 3 rivers for my take downs, I bought 1.5" bolts and just based this off of my bolts from Bingham's (measured from the bottom of bezel the side that touches the back of limb). When I put these bolts on and strung up the bow I'm seeing a lot more daylight between my limbs and limb pads on riser. I'm assuming this isn't normal. Any ideas on where I went wrong? The bur bolts tighten down nicely and are maybe 2 threads longer than my Allen bolts + bezel. Thanks guys

Are you sure the burr bolts are tightening down on the limbs? Or are they bottoming out in the riser?
If they are bottoming out, you may have to shorten the bolt or add a washer between the limb and bolt.

X2 what Bvas said

Take the limb off and screw the bolt back in by hand and see how much is sticking out

I checked it out, they have to be pretty close but I'm willing to try knocking off a couple threads to see if it helps. Hacksaw them be okay?

I would put a washer under them first to see if that solves the problem.

If you have to shorten the bolts.....put a nut on the bolt first, then grind the bolt down. This way the end thread will get cleaned up when you remove the nut.

Just take your limb off and stick the bolt back thru it and measure how much sticks thru then measure the depth of your hole. Most times 1.5 bolt with bezel and washer will not bottom out. If you dont use the bezel they may be bottoming out. You limb butt must be not very thick.

Wouldn't that explain it right there?

Yeah I don't know guys. Still getting the same issue. I even cut a couple threads off. Still getting daylight. Do they not apply as much pressure as the Allen's with bezel?

Are you sure there was no day light with the other setup. What is under the burrs are they seating all the way around. You got a pic?
