I been eyeballing this Pathfinder and wanting a new one mainly due because my 2xl is getting a bit "Tight" in the "Grocery department" area if ya know what I mean ?
So I could only find the size I am considering in this color called "Highland Plaid" and just curious if anyone has a picture of themselves wearing that color pattern. I don't need to see other colors cause I seen most of them but would like to see this color out in nature and what you think about it if you have it.
I can't tell if it's got a dark blue or black in the pattern but maybe someone can tell me?
Thanks in advance.
-
I don't have that color, but I would definitely hunt in it.
-
Looks really good. I would not hesitate to hunt in it either
You’ll have to model it Keefer’s.
-
Mitch I may have to wait until the Fat man comes down the Chimney on Christmas morning but I have the Evening stand green plaid pull over but it's like trying to put on those compression socks and by the time I get it on I have to sit down and catch my breath from the fight I just had trying to squirm into it.
That one is just the pullover .
I really like the Kangaroo pouch option with a 1/2 zipper but need a 3 xxxl due to a wife that cooks really well.
Poor Mrs. Asbell will probably run out of that wool pattern trying to make one to fit this frame

I have read that deer vision picks up the blue side of the color spectrum to the point where it is much more intense for them than it is for us. In fact, prior to posting this, I wanted to confirm that memory and did a google search on deer vision range and quickly found several research based articles that confirmed it. That being said, I would wait for a different color combination to become available.
This is me waiting for all the "I've killed deer wearing blue jeans" testimonials to come out... :archer2:

Hi Keefer. Fully understand your feelings about getting into a tight pullover. I wear a Asbell 2xl comfortably but just last week purchased a 2xl Pathfinder here on TG. The half zipper makes it so much easier to get into. Contact Shiela personally and ask her about making one in 3xl. If there is any way that she can acommodate you, she will. She is a great lady who provides good products at a fair price. Just remember you need to give her time to get it done. Christmas orders are piling up. :shaka:

I think Mr. Dudley has is right deer can see blue so I've read from some biological writings, and I have read it numerous times . I have the evening stand brown and I think it is a great camo if I wear a Sitka gear shirt or jacket under it comes off easily if I wear my other wool or fleece I need help getting it off.
-
I've heard that hot pink is the hardest for them to see.

Well yesterday I checked my email and had a message from Asbells that Teresa has just listed a New pattern in the Pathfinder with a little green tone to it and soft gray I think.
Only problem it doesn't show a 3 XL but I'm sort of liking that pattern cause I mainly stay on the ground and use root balls or natural blind set ups when available .
I believe its called the "Woodland Ghost" pattern?
It's been just listed yesterday in the New Items section on their web page.
-
I have 2....2 different patterns....killed deer wearing both... :campfire:
-
Woodland Ghost does look nice, I'm "Jonseing" for the Woodland Magic!
-
I have the woodland magic.
I used to have evening brown.
Great hunting hoodies. I live the big warn kangaroo pouch.
I like that new pattern as well. I might need to buy me an early Christmas present.
-
Well I texted Mrs . Teressa and asked if she could make one or have one of the New woodland Ghost she has advertised but she texted me back she doesn't have any of that material but should next spring so that's out for now.
I also texted back to see what she had in my size with some green plaid in a Pathfinder and she said she would look and get back to me but haven't heard anything back on that yet?
I may just have to use my original and lose a few pounds for now which isn't a problem.
-
Keefer,
Try ordering that Woodland Ghost online. I could be mistaken but I think it IS in stock.
-
My brother just ordered one and it is headed his way.
-
Michael,
Did your brother get the New pattern called Woodland Ghost? in 3xl?
When I text Teressa last week she replied in a matter of minutes she didn't have that material until spring of next year?
Maybe she only made them up to x Large with what material she had but I need a 3 xl and asked if she had anything with some green plaid mix.
Still waiting to hear back from her to see what she has.
I did get my old pullover on but what a job . My buddy keeps asking for it but as long as I can squeeze in it I will hunt with it on. Kind of looks like a :biglaugh: sweater on an elephant but hey I love the way it blends in with my surroundings .
-
I love mine but I dont know if they make the pattern anymore. I think it was called northern lights. Absolutely love their stuff and been wanting the timber or woodland ghost even though it doesnt really snow here. Evening stand brown would probably be good though. Anyone tried their haversacks? Always wanted one.
-
Dave,
I have one of their Haversacks and use it every time I hunt and love it.
Once you get over folks calling it a “ Man Purse” you have no worry’s :biglaugh:
Today I had a flash light, water bottle, water bottle container filled with extra batteries, tags, rubber gloves, extra back up small flashlight, ink pen, hunting knife, small retractable ceramic stick, bag of beef jerky, roll of orange marking tape, gloves, fleece face mask or neck gator ,compass with whistle, small brush clippers, shooting glove, grunt tube, doe bleat call, scent dispenser, wind detector in bottle, small bottle of cover sent ,bow stringer and if I missed something I will come back and ad it.
You can carry a lot in one those haversacks but I may have to clean it out again but not sure what I need to remove lol.... :archer:
-
Wow wow wow. That's a lot of stuff.
-
Keefer; This is what he got. Changed his mind from Woodland Ghost to Magic.

Update: "News Alert" lol...
Well after asking about the New pathfinder and the only pattern that was in stock my 3xxxl size I decided to just get the pattern mentioned and saved 20% through a special email from Teressa last week . I got the one I asked about for $128.05 after the discount etc. It came in already so I will have it under the tree on Christmas morning.
I hurried out in my shop and opened the sealed bag it came in and at first I too didn't care for the Blue that was in it but after putting it on and how much easier it was getting on without a fight I looked in the mirror and there is so much other drab colors like dark olive and dark golds I really don't think a deer will detect that Blue. I went and took a picture and played around with the black and white options on my i pod photo thing and actually all the different options and it does not stand out .
I think as some mentioned that deer see blue has more of what material is being used and if one is wearing a solid color and what detergents are being used not to forget movement.
I pretty much stay on the ground and most times behind a root ball with lots of down tree branches as back cover and stay seated in a huntmore 360 chair.
I think I will absolutely love this color and the new kangaroo pouch Teressa added a few years ago with the cell phone or camera pocket.
Great thinking Mrs. Asbell and If you are reading this I thank you for your quick shipment on this and the email I got for the 20% off last week.
Mitch I'll pose with it on sometime After Christmas but this one fits me "Perfect" and makes me look a little thinner lol.
Now I'm not a deer but checked out all I could on that "deer see blue differently then we do" well I am not a deer or doubt the science or study's of it and not going into a debate about it . I will do my own study myself and see how they react to it but as far as I am concerned I actually like it not just for hunting but when just stumping or hanging around the camp with friends as well.
Plus I got a Super Deal on it from Mrs. Asbell ....Merry Christmas and Thank you Mrs. T once again...

Showing that same pathfinder with the black and white option on my I pod .
-
Funny you mention that. When I ordered mine I found it looked pretty different in person and I too found all sorts of colors that I could not detect in the photo.
-
I have also read that deer see blue very well. I would go with green or brown.
-
Sam,
The jacket you see in Black and white is the one with some blue in it.
If someone here knows exactly what a deer see's (not heard or read) but has good sound knowledge and can take that same original color of the Pathfinder in my opening post could you show me here how it would look to a deer please?
I just remember when I first started hunting I wore blue jeans and had deer walk by me undetected and on some hunts had the safety orange on.
I am not saying they don't see it differently but I want to know exactly from "Facts" of what this pattern would look like in deer vision .
I too as said before like olive drabs and shades of browns like my Evening stand green Asbell pullover in this picture but I chose a color they had in stock and it has a few blocks of blue. Navy dark blue to be exact. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Keefer it is really strange. I looked at the black and white photo and then looked back at the color photo to see what was showing up as a Gray or lighter color. It was the rust color. You surely wouldn't think that. I just read the same article the other day on deer seeing blue hues of color better. According to your black and white photo I think you are going to be fine and look great in the chosen color for those of us who see in color. The main key to concealment as we all know is to be motionless and it looks like you have that down.
-
Low rider,
Thanks and I agree that keeping still as possible is key as well as playing the wind right. I’m not doubting that a deer will see a color different this us humans but this is also a wool fabric compared to a fabric with lots of sheen and the UV factor I would think will look different on wool then say cotton or polyester .
I notice my Asbell and Swanndri wool clothing have a much more dullness look to them and having the different color patterns that also help in blocking or appearing as a solid blob in the woods .
If by chance the “Good Lord” blesses me with another deer on the ground as He has with several then I’ll post pictures of that pathfinder with the blue in it.
And if I get busted a lot I’ll post that too. :archer:

Keefer, I have read numerous articles by guys who are supposedly scientific oriented. There has been a lot of research done regarding wildlife vision over the years. Deer see several colors, not just black and white, but I don't think the research has it all nailed down just yet. But, I do believe that they see blue, probably because I have been reading about it for so many years from numerous scientific studies. Either way, just in case, I will still stick with green and brown.
