Just bought the Vista HCx and would like to enter waypoints from old hunting trips into the waypoint list by hand. Is this possible?
Yes, and it is quite easy compared to older GPS units. I'm at work and don't have my instruction book but for sure it tells you how to enter way points and store them. I entered all my moose stands and other important ones by just entering info off of old GPS unit. You can give them names and symbols as well. The software that came with unit also allows you to customize maps of waypoints and rename etc.
Thanks hunt it. I must be having a brain seizure. I have had other GPS and had no problem. I have read the instruction manual front to back and can't figure this one out. Maybe you can tell me which page when you get home. Thanks for your help.

RL does it come with a computer connection? If so there's a free computer program that will let up upload waypoints and routes
Where can one access the free computer program?
Thanks
If you still have your old GPS, just go to your waypoints and take the lat/long info and plug it in to your new GPS. I just did the very same thing, cause I got a Vista as well. It it a considerable step up from my older Etrex Legend.
I think the Vista HCx is a great GPS for the traditional Archer, it is small and compact, and with having many different ground blinds, it makes it easy to put them in as waypoints with different symbols.
Good choice for traditional Archer.
I'll be purchasing mine on Sunday, shop day, I get a better price on them. But I hear they are on Amazon for $229.00, that's really reasonable.

BD there are 2. Do a search for USAphotomaps and easygps.
The directions on page 7 of the owners manual state that you can enter coordinates manually but it does not tell you how to do it. I do have a USB cable that came with the unit but I am going turkey hunting on the 17th and would like to enter the coordinates from my old GPS to the Vista. I don't think I have time to learn the computer stuff yet. It is a great unit so far and I bought it at Walmart for $228. Centaur, I have my coordinates from my old GPS, just can't figure out how to manually enter them.

I'm not familiar with the Vista so I may be way off here but have you tried this: Go out in your backyard and create a new waypoint. Then select "edit waypoint" for the point you just created and change the coordinates to match one of your waypoints from the old GPS then save it. I've done this with the cheap yellow etrex and it works fine.

RL, what BMN says is how you do it. Just 'mark' a waypoint, and then go to it. You will see 001 or 002 or something like that as the name of the waypoint, and down mid page, it will show coordinates. Scroll down to the coordinates, plug in the new coordinates from your old GPS, and go up and name it whatever you want, probably what your old waypoint was named. Then go to 'map' on the bottom of the page, and your waypoint should show up in its correct place. Hope this helps.
Thanks guys!!
