I've read about static tips and limbs, but dont know what that means. Can some of you bow experts enlighten me? Thanks, Lin

Take a look at the Dryad thread. It's about our new static recurve. Basically you have two types of recurves and a whole lot of them in the middle. The static is an unbending tip and the working is a bending tip. Most modern recurves are semi-static in my observation.

Static tips on a recurve do not "uncoil" when the bow is drawn, they stay "stiff" so to speak.

Lin, they can be. Horne, RER, and Soveriegn, and I believe Morrison all use some form of static tip on their recurves. These are some of the best performers out there. They are supposedly quieter than working 'curves, as you get less string slap. The ones I have shot did not seem to be quite as smooth as the best working 'curves, but that is purely personal observation.
I have to disagree with DP, most static tip curves are way smoother than most other curves and will handle long draws even in a short bow, my RER Arryo will draw smooth to over 30"s and not stack until past that, it is only 54"s. Do a searck, lots of good stuff written here. Shawn
