OK, so in a previous topic I posted I had Black Walnut,
went out and dug around, nope can't find it,
I did come in with another rifle blank-piece I believe is Cherry
then I have 2-- 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 of Black Palm 13 and 18inches long that I used to make knife handles
then ive got the 90 year old oxbow, and that is Curly Maple
so now im thunkin to I-beam the cherry OR Curly with the Black Devil Palm (nasty stuff causes pusculules in finger splinters)
and Kills anything sharp in seconds)
Im leaning towards the Cherry
then do my limbs with Kennys spalted wood, with a cherry wedge and innards
30# limbs--for my first set, Ive got to get my arms and back built back up :biglaugh: then on to heaver
My 40# Fleetwood/Cabelas longbow wears me out after 10 shots,
29 inch Draw
68 inch Bow
What say you ? opinions wanted,

I had a buddy that tried to build a riser with that black palm... nasty stuff. He couldn't get any glue to stick to it. It looks really neat. Seems like I have seen it in bows though. Maybe they stabilize it with resin first?
Someone here will know...

Not so sure cherry is the best core wood. A-boo or hard maple be better.

Agree on cherry not so good.

Agree on cherry not so good.
after taking to Ken and ordering my Limb lams,
and picking his brain,
Im going with the Maple and the Black-EVIL-Palm
I built these last winter, I tilted my drill press on its side, clamped it down. rigged a shelf and turned the Black Evil Palm with a homebuilt chisel, (I dont have my wood lathe anymore :biglaugh: )
and sanded my brains out, didn't wear a mask,,Learned a lesson, splinters are NOT friendly, and felt like I had the flue for a week,
Ya, can't wait to do it again on the Bow,cause I aint gonna BURN it in my woodstove it would probably make all my farm animals sick from the smoke
