Its been years since I made a string - am having a terrible time with my second loop - the first loop I make comes out fine but the second loop does not come out - it unravels - the strings I use to make came out fine - have no idea what I am doing wrong :dunno:

Are you twisting in the wrong direction? I am right handed and when I switch ends I have to make a conscious thought of making my twists WITH the other end not against it.
It will come back to you!

Sounds like a mental glitch.
Ya gotta be twisting the second loop backwards.
Lots of videos on YouTube for them.

"twisting the second loop backwards. " that's probably what I'm doing because it turns out as cabling.

I clip the far ends of the bundles when I make the first loop. I put a second clip at the base of the first loop's splice. Then I count how many twists to straighten them (about ten rolls through my fingers), then do that many again to put in "reverse twist." At that point I do the second loop, twisting in the same direction as the first loop. As you do that, you will work out that "reverse twist" you put in and avoid the cabling. Smooth it and twist the whole thing a few twists and you're golden. As was said, I got this from youtube years ago and I would go there for advice. Probably even better stuff out there now.
