Title: Stone question.

Aluminium oxide stones, do you lubricate them?  Box says not to but that seems odd to me.

The reason to lubricate the stone is so it does not clog the pores of the stone. When a stone clogs it does not let the abrasive cut properly ,light oil is good, wd -40 ,liquid wrench is also good and also helps clean a dirty stone.

Yeah....it floats out the metal shavings so the stone can continue to do its job.

I beg to disagree.  Windex or a similar soapy/cleaning solution provides lubrication and doesn't build up.
