Just found out that Tred Barta has died. Not a lot of info available, other than it involved a car accident in Canada yesterday.
Sad to hear. He had a hard run in the later years but was a fighter. In my teens he was one of my first intros to hunting "the hard way", I remember when he went after hogs with a knife. RIP Tred.
Sad to hear. Prayers for his family.
Yes I heard , that goes to show you you never know. Sad I really liked watching him because he seemed honest. RIP
 RIP
Sad news. He was one of the first that I watched who hunted trad. I can picture him all camo'd up saying he's doing it the hard way, the barta way.
I was deeply saddened to hear about his passing. I watched every episode of his TV show and followed his many adventures on Facebook. He was a big influence on me and my pursuit of game with a longbow.
I have fond memories of anxiously waiting for the new 3 Rivers catalogue to see what gear Tred put his name on. When his "celebration longbow" came out, I told myself that someday I would buy one and get it signed by him. Sadly, not everything in life goes as planned. But, as I age, I learn to appreciate the path I'm on and thank the people who set me on it. Thank you Tred Barta. RIP.

Prayers offered for his family.
I saw Tred in Islamorada at world wide sports where he kept his boat. He would use a wheel chair and go almost 4 miles everyday. The last time I saw him he had a custom truck set up where he could drive from his wheel chair. He never gave up.
I watched his show. Definitely went on his own path. RIP

RIP Tred Barta.
Rest Well......
A buddy and I had the pleasure of guiding him on a successful bear hunt in Maine back in '91, several years before his spinal stroke and before many of his TV shows.
The week prior to hunting with us Tred was in Quebec on a caribou hunt and although he was the only bowhunter in camp that week he shot the largest bull caribou. Back then Tred hunted with Widow MA TD recurves and after seeing him shoot I had no doubt he was a darn good shot and serious hunter. Tred was quite a head strong opiniated character that people either loved or hated, there was no in between. It was the "Barta way" or nothing. I liked him a lot and still have quite a few pictures of him when he hunted with us.
RIP brother!
Rest in Peace
Enjoyed watching his shows.

So sad to hear this. I liked Tred. Really liked his shows, both his tuna fishing and bowhunting shows. Loved his fisherman's handshake. RIP Tred.
Really enjoyed Tred as well. Unfortunately never got the chance to meet him but really seemed like a stand up guy. Prayers for the family

Sorry to hear this. Probably 10-12 years ago, I ran into Tred and his buddy, (Dan, I think) at a Bass Pro Shop in Denver where he was speaking. He stopped and took time to talk to my kids and me for several minutes, even though he was quickly walking through the store to get to the lecture area. He seemed very genuine, authentic, and kind. RIP, Tred.
Sad news for sure. RIP Mr. Barta
Rest in Peace, may God bring peace and understanding to the family. Never followed Mr. Barta much but heard much about him and his trials.
