Making skeeters High so they Mello out is my guess or he is a guide getting his blind set up for "Cheech and Chong" to hunt pigs.
Burning cork to darken his skin with.
Burning dung for cover scent?
Antelope hunting. Burning either dung or sage.
Passing the time while he's taking a dump with whatever he could find in the immediate vicinity to focus his attention on to relax himself.
Looks like he is demonstrating how that fungus will catch a spark from a flint and steel.
Vaping hog dung Terry. Come on Brutha you should know :o
Looks like he's roasting a turd in my grandmother's living room. Those drapes are the same color green as hers. :goldtooth:

Yep....burning Kudu dung!!!
I've used smoke as a cover scent for many years. I just use leaves and pine straw.
My guess is he is trying to get a glowing coal after striking a spark with flint and steel. In lighting a fire with flint and steel you need a "char" to receive the spark that you then blow on to get a glowing coal before applying the coal to your tinder.
Done it thousands of times in my younger days while trekking 18th century.

This method does it without an open flame ...no open flame or heat added to an already hot blind...just sits and smolders.
What does it smell like? I've heard that burnt moose pellets smell oddly great...
Yep we burn Zebra dung when you have a bad wind at a waterhole. Works pretty good.
Citrus WMA where I'll be in a couple months has a big horse riding stable near the middle of the forest. Maybe I should collect some horse crap to burn next Nov.
I do tend stomp around in it when I do find it on the trails.
He's lighting up a mature cowpie to go with his burbon, do it all the time. When worn on top of ones head (fire up) doubles as a head warmer AND a long-lasting yet mobile fire starter when taken back to camp after a hunt. I generally only bring one match on a weekend trip...saves on weight.
:archer:
We didn't see chit....while burning and smelling chit. :biglaugh:
Last year hunting in South Africa we used mostly Cape Baffalo dung, but also used Eland and zebra dung as cover scent.
Burning zebra dung for scent cover?
The practice isn't popular with the military veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
