I needed some SG to fletch some arrows so ran to Ace for some. I bought this stuff and have set 6 fletches on a multi fletcher and decided to read the instructions. You know, nothing else to do for a few minutes. :)
So it says sets up in 30 minutes and cures in 24 hours. Hmmmm.... doesn't sound like super glue!!
What have I done??
I'll do a follow up in this topic on the fletching results but meanwhile, what else can anyone tell me about this stuff? [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I made the same mistake a while back. It's a good glue... just not a CA type and not fast setting. I ended up using it to put some handles on some fishing rods I built. Worked great for that.
Should have known that a bottle of CA glue that size wouldnt be that inexpensive. Also, that much CA would probably go bad or get hard before it was all used.

Yeah, I figgered that out when I had glued fletch to six shafts! :)
The consistency is much like Duco or fletch tite. Seems like a good glue. It won't be getting used in a bow though :)
-
Yeah -- sort the modern equivalent of Duco and those types of glue... Nice for certain applications, tho.
-
Being a nerd, I had to look up the glue. Interesting stuff. Seem it would be very good for a lot of applications, but it's definitely not CA. You certainly would not want to put any finish over it, its got silicone in it.
-
It seems to be holding pretty well. Later today they will be going on the burner. If they don't catch fire too bad it's a win but it's not fast enough to pull me away from SG.
-
I dont even see on there where it says Super Glue-----------duh LMAO

Hah, you guys will sing a different tune when my testing shows it's a revolutionary discovery. Yeah, I know, it's an accidental discovery, but that's how us geniuses operate! :)
-
Yeah, I'm in
"but that's how us geniuses operate!" :smileystooges:

It's hard to sort us out on the Bench cuz genius is rampant here. :)

Just burned these off with no fire incidents. They seem to be securely attached. I'm not switching over cause I like the speed of SG. Time wise this glue takes about the same as Duco or Fletch Tite. They were left in the clamps for 30 minutes minimum.
Field testing to follow!

Wow! Those are some beautiful arrows
I could never make such pretty arrows, I would hate to break, or lose them.
Kudos to you :clapper:

Yer just jealous Mike:)
-
Well Roy I got to admit I already got several arrows with pink feathers. :bigsmyl:
-
That's fine Stickypops, they will match your dress:)

Great looking arrows Flem...
This post reminded me that I had the same glue. Went and found it and used it to glue a whetstone back on its base. Worked great.

I wish those were mine!
The only person who would think mine were pretty, is Stevie Wonder
