Last nite I recieved a call from a gentleman who was a good friend of Paul Schafers. He told me that he is in the process of writing a biography on Paul and that he has been and would continue to interview alot of Pauls friends and hunting partners, to gather stories and other information about Paul and his life. You will recognize many of the contributors and probably many you won't, but all of them knew Paul well and their insight into what many consider to be the worlds best bowhunter will make for a top-notch book. I've known the author for alot of years and I can't think of a better person to undertake this project.
He gave me permission to let folks know that this long awaited book was in the works and I for one can hardly wait.

How long do we have to wait?
-
I for one can't wait to read it. Ric, Please let us know when they are available.

Rumor has it that Bob Windaur is writing the book. I sure hope he collects some stories from the Wensel's and Paul Brunner. They seem to have a lot of great stories and experience with hunting with Paul.

I think we're lucky that Mr. Schafer picked his friends wisely. A lot of them are still around and are quite entertaining in their own rights. I can't wait to hear all of their tales.
OK, now will SOMEONE please research and write a book on Ben Pearson? I still can't believe there isn't a book.

Too cool, keep us updated on here, maybe he can start a pre-order list???

Ghostman, Bob is in fact writing the book. I hesitated to mention that in my original post until I got his permission. I just got home from a very pleasant 2 1/2 hour visit with him which has made me even more excited about the book. Bob has talked to alot of Pauls family and friends already and will continue to interview others to get their feel for who Paul was.
He stated it will probably be a year before its finished.

Great Ric! Thanks for the info, and keep us posted on the progress!

Best news I've heard in years!!

Ric hope I didn't let the cat out of the bag but some earlier threads about Paul mentioned Bob as the books author. BTW I hope he captures some of your stories and experiences with Paul.
I will definately be on the buyers list!

Excellent! I hope it goes beyond hunting. I want to hear about his football days too!

Ric,
I ran into a fellow working at Davis Sports Store in Sloatesburg NY. He told me he knew Paul Shafer in MT & CO, and used to shoot 3D with him. Maybe he was full of it, but, maybe he wasn't. It might be worthwhile for your friend to check out this guy. He talked with me for about an hour and convinced me he really knew Paul.
Regards,
Nick Horton

Bob told me about 5 or 6 years ago that he was going to write a book about Paul when he retired (Which he said would be about 1 year from then. I can't believe it is finally a reality! I know this has been a hot topic over the years, with many pleas going fourth to Too Short, The Wensels, and others. I would like to put myself down for three advanced copies, now where do I sign up??
