For as long as I can remember, I have always desired a Blacktail Snakebit TD. Every time I saw a pic of one, I would say, now that is the real deal! But with a family to support, I knew owning one would be a far stretch, at least any time in the near future. I always thought to myself....one day. Well, today is the day! A buddy, Greg (A bit outside) bought this bow a while back. It is a 64" bow and draws 47@28". Snakewood footed with ebony, checkered grip. Greg loved the bow but his draw length wasn't getting the performance he wanted so he offered it to me (Thank You Greg, your a good guy!). It cost me my Thermal TD and a Model 29 but well worth it in my book. We have a understanding that neither bow goes anywhere without the other having dibs first (as it should be between buds!). Today is the first day I spent with the Snakebit but it didn't take long to get dialed in with her. I also have a Blacktail Elite TD, Zipper TD and several vintage Kodiaks to round out my collection, so far. Norm build one sweet bow  !

Yes sir! Those Blacktails are at the top.
Nice Collection!
So....
The wife wants to watch "The New World" on DVD tonight with the boys. I'm thinkin "OK...make the best of it"
After about 10 min's of this epic flick, I've seen enough and cruise on over to the computer. After 30 min's or so, I check in and everybodys knocked out (Yea.great flick...) so I head back to the PC to see whats up on the gang. A little bit later the other half gets up and heads to bed and asks that I see the boys to bed. No problem. A little bit later, I catch movement and I see 9 year old Zach standing in front of the recliner he was just knocked out on. I don't have my glasses on so things a bit fuzzy. I'm thinkin to myself, "What's he doin?" I notice his hands position and...
HOLY DIBBLING DINKIES BATMAN!!! HE'S GOING ON THE RECLINER!
I yell "HEY!! What are you doin?"
Huh? What? Going to the bathroom...he says calmly.
Kim's yelling from the bedroom "Don't kill him honey, he's still asleep!"
Kids....GOD love em. Sometime you wonder if a good blunt in the touche would do em any good.
JL
very nice looking bows!
Hey Jl, I've got a 4 year old boy.....I can relate!!! My wife will love that story.
Oh, by the way, SWEET bow.
Yup, ya gotta wake him up to tell him what he's being killed for. Laughed out loud on that one, even though it reminded me of a {brief) boyfriend I had...
JL....look forward to seein that bow in person at Balto!!!! SWEEEEEEET
Really nice looking bows! ;)
Sweet looking bow. I had a uncle that did the same thing while hunting but on the wood stove. weird smell woke me fast! not to mention the sound.<>< :scared:
JL,
Great looking bow. I got my Blacktail Elite VL on February 16th. One question, where did you get your bow rack from? I'm trying to find and purchase one just like it.
Nice bow, congrats.
Man that is nice one , I have plans for one piece 64 inch by Norm.... :)
JL, that is a beauty they dont come much nicer than that.
My dream came true about a month ago when I got my first (new to me) Blacktail Elite VL.
I just about spit on the keyboard when i read your second post, all of us can relate to that one..LMAO.
Now If I can only get one of my dream bows off the bottom of your rack that would be great,,LOL,, Nice bows,,You are blessed to have such a nice rack,,NO PUN INTENDED,,LOL
I have been on a roll here lately. In the last year, I picked up 64 and 66 Kodiak's (sweet bows!) and two Blacktail TD's. When it rains, it pours! I'm still working on tuning the Snakebit (shoots good, just a bit louder then I prefer) and will have it and the 64 Kodiak in tow in Baltimore. That movie sucked sooo bad, I think it killed my cable box (Get to deal with Comcast customer service today- Oh joy!) Thought y'all would get a kick out of Zach. Be sure to mention it when you see him in Baltimore. He still doesn't believe it happened...
JL
I will be sure to ask him not to fall asleep at the campfire. We like to keep it lit!
:campfire: :biglaugh:
Night Wing, that rack of JL's looks exactly like one of the finish-it-yourself-and-screw-it-together racks that I bought on bBay. Haven't seen them lately, but another seller is offering a similar product.
Killdeer :bigsmyl:
Congrats!! Very nice.
Wow Jerry, that is a sweeeet looker! I never would have thought that Thermal would leave your hands though............
Beautiful bows! All the best with them!
That Thermal is one sweet bow and a freak of nature when it comes to the speed/quiet department. That bow will flat out smoke an arrow and very quietly, I'll add. Greg is a good guy and if it goes anywhere, it'll be back on my rack. But, it has been sitting for some time (Greg had to wipe the dust off her!) as I have been shooting my vintage Kodiaks a bunch lately and within a couple weeks landed two very sweet Blacktail TD's. I commit myself to one woman, but bows on the other hand....I'm a bit weak in that department. It's all good...
See you in Balt-more,hun.
Jerry
Believe me, I about poo'd my pants when he said he would trade the Thermal and the Model 29 for my Snakebit. I just couldn't shoot it. Way to big for me. I'm only 65" tall and that Snakebit was 64". I just couldn't get any kind of performance out of her. It hurt to get rid of such a pretty bow but I figure what is the point of keeping a bow if I can't shoot it at all. Just doesn't make sense to me, it just degrades the spirit of the bow in my eyes. Besides, I've always loved that Thermal and no matter what, when I pick it up... I can just flat out shoot it. It is so comfortable in my hands and such an extension of my arm that I feel like I ripped JL off!
There is no better person to deal with in the world than JL. Thank God I found such a great guy to shoot with all the time!
His women is hilarious though. Everytime he gets a new toy, she just rolls her eyes and laughs at him. I must have called him a kid in a candy store ten times that day! He kept sneakin out of the house to shoot it. Even when the steaks were on the grill!!! We all got a laugh out of it.
Greg
Killdeer,
I found these one, two, three and four bow racks on this website. I'm looking at this particular one with the storage box underneath it in a walnut stain. Once on the page, just scroll on down until you see it. On that page, two of them are shown in red mahogany and cherry, but I like walnut. My 66" Blacktail Elite recurve TD, 64" Bob Lee Signature recurve TD and my one piece 68" Belcher/Massie Longhorn hybrid longbow will look good on this bow rack....and so will my 31" long, Easton XX78 Super Slam arrows hung there too.
