Started posting a month ago, or so after a 25 year hiatus from archery. Picked up a Graying green Bear Grizzly, 45#. It was a throwback to my teen years, I guess. Anyway, she gave out. I had just strung it and set it down when I heard a crackling noise followed by a snap. I didn't see any cracks or signs delamination when I bought it. Been shooting it for a few weeks without issue, but clearly the bow had enough. Just bad luck I guess. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190527/ca6e37af01721f54702f9b6bb7fde528.jpg)

Man....sorry to hear this!!!
-
That's a bummer!
-
That sux! I have one that's 41# @28 and would hate to lose it!!!
-
:banghead:
Been there done that
-
That’s a real downer :( I’m glad no one was hurt.

I guess my bad luck may have really been good luck that it spontaneously broke while resting on my patio table. It could have snapped while being drawn possibly hurt me. Ill keep my eyes open for another one. In the meantime, I'll keep practicing with the 30# Galaxy long bow I bought to get get my form down.

Hopefully, something else inspiring comes along in the near future.
-
Dang it. Sorry to see that. I've had a couple old bear bows give out bow fishing over the years.
-
Bummer for sure.
-
As bad as this is, at least you were not hurt. Good luck in your search for a suitable replacement.
-
Stuff happens. Nothing lasts forever. Good that you didn't suffer any lumps as a result.
Inquisitive. What's your draw length?
A long draw on a relatively short bow puts an awful lot of stress on the limbs and can lead to failure. That's not always the reason, of course, but a good place to start.
-
My draw length is 28", maybe a touch more. I have 29" arrows and they sit comfortably on the shelf.

Looks like the riser is OK as the fade looks intact. It could be relimbed by someone with talent
-
Ouch!!! Glad you're OK. Let to morning begin, hoping that another similar one floats past you.
-
I had a grizzly it broke while I was shooting it.Once I think it was another web site someone put up post pictures of your two piece bows so I sent a picture of it.
-
Sad to see the bow go, but good news you was back shooting again.
-
I have a Kodiak that the same thing happened to in the exact same place?????
-
I had a 70" carbon backed Harrison hill style longbow do that and I only draw 27" so it happens,, had a (jimmy Taylor) selfbow do that and almost took my right eye out with a pointy sharp string nock!!!
-
I lost a KMag shooting a doe. These things happen
-
Man that stinks!!!
I had a old Browning Cobra do that to me after I had just walk a little over a mile to my stand. I climbed up got settled and pulled the bow up and placed it across my legs when it sounded like rice crispy's after you just pour milk on them. Picked the bow up and POP....that's all she wrote. Was a horrible rest of my evening as I saw 3 shooters walk by me and I couldn't throw the arrows hard or far enough.
