Title: selfbow class at trad. expo????
Post by: stick flipper on April 04, 2008, 10:39:00 PM
I live 100 miles from the belmont county fairgrounds where the 2nd annual boywers journal trad expo will be next weekend. I am going to go on friday and saturday for the full amount of time. I have been wanting to try and build a selfbow for a long time, but I have been trying to find a seminar to do my first one and learn. Does anyone know if there is going to be a selfbow workshop? And if so can i buy a stave at the expo or should I get one ahead of time? Will I be able to finish a functional bow between the half day on friday and full day on sat.? Is there a cost for the class, and how much? And basically anything else you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Chris

I will be there the entire weekend and would be glad to help. Gary Davis will have his bow blanks that are ready to tiller. I think they are around
$160. I will bring some tools, if you have any hand tools bring em. Gary may have time as well. There is a good bow jam in Wisconsin the first weekend in May if you can get there, but I bet we can get you one made at the expo. Send me a PM and we can work out details.

Last year Gary had a couple of guys building bows in his booth all weekend.  I'm sure he will be glad to help.

If you want to set something up with Gary or just talk to him before the expo, call him at 989-845-7740.
