Kenny I see you got the belly against the form . I think that is much easier to get a good fit and let the hose form around the hump.

sorry, no Kenny. Only did a 68'' on the deflex/reflex.The only one of these I made was the one I posted where it deconstructed in a big way and it was 60''. the glass looked like it had been cut strait across the limb from side to side. still don't really know what happened. I am starting Mark 2 now., weather has been rank humidity sky high.Having had about 150 shots out of it before it went to that big woodpile in the sky, it was without doubt the most impressive bow I have shot.Keen to get this second one done.

Hey sorry Ken and Bob,  I was on the wrong thread , I was talking about the TD!  The FHLB has enough reflex that the string will be on the limb much past 60" and it may get touchy to shoot.…

Kenny, have you made a draw force curve on the 60 inch to see when it starts to stack  or do you have an idea how long draw it can be shot with comfortably?

Bue, I did . Let me see if it is where it’s sposed to be in a minute.

Well I have made 2 64" & a couple 60" the 64 " is a sweet bow you can keep the limbs off the string with a 1/2 " higher brace height the 64" could probable be drawn 34" or better

Bue I draw my 60"s  to 31" with no stack smooth drawing for sure I think Kenny did a 58" to !

Kenny, how short can you go with your FHLB? I'm interested in building a short bow for blind hunting.

I have a 56" but you start losing a bit of performance shorter than 58" as you are losing reflex when you shorten it…

Only hunted out of blind a couple times but they are not user friendly for stick bows!

I'm getting rid of my blind, hate being in it, can't hear, can't see, just feels wrong. Just me tho...

Great work Kenny!
I think I might need to blow the dust off of my bow making stuff and give this one a try!
Looks great!!

Thanks Thad, if you like shorter bows, it works well! I really like the angle of the handle, just fits me...

Design looks good, was it a total of .001 taper you recommended?
Title: Re: FHLB Plans
Post by: kennym on May 13, 2019, 01:18:40 PM
Yes , .001 taper. A tip wedge is needed to keep string off limb . Sounds wrong but it makes the limb bend more in center and moves string off end of limb.

I made a 58” and it’s a sweet shooter. Only 40 lbs but it handles nicely in a blind. No turkey wants to get close enough to try it out yet

That mark 2 I posted in another thread was only a 40# bow and is 60'' ntn and is unreal performer for the relatively lite weight. Slams an arrow in.Very impressive.Sold me!

The 60" is very light and nimble my weight is 19 oz and change ,Im throwing a strap on quiver when it gets here but bet its still a light set up , working on a 58" now trying for a lighter 40-45lb one like you guys !

I might try one at 58” soon as I only draw 29”!with stick bow, do will leave riser length same at 16”. Be keen to see how the 13” riser goes Ritchie.

I will let you know I decided Im going 14" for the 58" I will try 13" for the 56" might as well work my way down in increments makes more sense to me to do it that way , just no time with work going to finish up the 64"' this week end , is the 58" next for you Bob ?

Could be Ritchie. Might make another 60” and then the 58”.Not sure yet. 14” sounds a good compromise.

Bob if you look at Kennys 58" FDC you should be just about perfect 58" @29 !
