Title: Turkey for coffee
Post by: Ted Fry on April 30, 2019, 06:00:56 PM
Had this tom come right up to my window this morning while enjoying coffee with my wife instead of turkey hunting.
I need to change all my screens to shoot through mesh.

You may have an idea for a new product.... More so than you know... Shoot through cabin screens.... Just make sure you cut me in 😆

I’m actually going to try and find some birds near your neck of the woods.

And it gets better, this morning I sat from first light till 9:00 am , had four toms gobbling and one came real close but not close enough, ever feel like you have a right handed slate and your left handed?
Called it quits and walked the 150 yards to my house , sat down to eat breakfast and get ready for work and looked down at my blind and guess what , three hens and a tom right in front of my blind.
Turkeys a love hate relationship.

Nice view for breakfast.  I see lots of deer from my kitchen, but they are suburbanites.  It isn't the same as seeing them in their natural state.

All I know is your morning coffee view is much better than mine!

My morning coffee view is this PC screen. Sigh!
I try not be envious but at times it's pretty dang hard.

The longer I'm at this the more I believe turkey hunting is not about the sport. It's about getting even with the little beggars.

I think you are correct Charlie, I caught up a little bit this morning!
I had four toms going at day break and this one came in close enough for me to take a nice broad side, broke the wing joint and he went down , I raced out of the blind Fred Eichler like and fell on my ground blind tie down , went #@!$ over tea kettle but managed to get to the bird , I tripped again but this time I fell on the bird (No arrow, pass through) he then rolled me over and proceeded to beat me with his wings, I managed to pull a wrestling move and get on top of him and payed him back.

Did you offer him a cup? Maybe he was just sleepy.

Dang Ted, tough deciding if you are:

1) Mr. Coffee
2) Trad Turkey Hunter
3) Camo Gymnast
4) MMA Turkey Fighter

One thing's for sure, you are one heck of a Multi-Tasker.  Nice Bird Champ!

Nice job, Ted! Glad you made it out of the scuffle ok. They drew blood on me last year.

Say, is that an Osage pot? I have an Osage one. Works pretty good.

I’d pay good money to see that!!

Congrats on a well/hard earned bird.

I would pay to see the video of that contest, Ted.  I have been spurred once or twice by a not-quite-dead gobbler before...good times!

Congrats, Ted.

First turkey I ever got, I had to tackle and wrestle him into submission:)

Congratulations Ted.  By the way, did you happen to have a camera set up so that we could watch the wrestling moves? :biglaugh:

I'm not a wrestler, but seems there is a move called the "Chicken Wing", maybe we need to rename it the "Turkey Wing" for Ted's sake.

Sorry no cameras, just me and the turkey, Turkey Wing , I like that name for a grapple move! :biglaugh: Not an Osage pot Varmit , made with Zebra and blood wood by Wade Morris at Rustic Archer, good guy.
