Post by: Todd Cook on April 03, 2019, 11:54:18 AM
The dogwoods are blooming , hogs are rootin' and the turkeys are struttin'. And this place has a lot of both. Ya'll come and hunt with us if you will.

Some of the roads are closed , or were in Feb. We talked to the DNR officer and he said some of them will be opening soon. That area floods a lot in the winter but usually dries up as the weather warms.

I don't mind closed roads. They have a way of improving the hunting...

I'm planning on coming down for this. I hope I don't get to experience all Georgia has to offer this time of year, but Ill take the chance. I've got boots, but my wife must have shrunk my chaps. Left them in the drier too long I guess. Does anybody have an address for the campground or one to get me close?

This is so tempting!  I have the license but not the time. 😔
Never been to this particular WMA but have been considering it for a few years.  Wonder if I could sneak down there for a day.....🤔🤔

Word is that TBG will supply the evening meal on Saturday and Buck is cooking. That's worth the drive from just about anywhere...

Well, how was the hunt?  Any hogs or turkeys killed?
My son was home from college so we stayed in NC to hunt turkeys together.

It went really well Jeff. The river was way up and the slough that runs north and south had us blocked from about half the property. I got into pigs twice and swirling winds got me. Very close but no cigar. It's tough to hunt a north south east west wind  :biglaugh: Several others came close but the wind was everywhere and every direction the past few days. So none were killed but the adventure, food and fellowship was top notch. I didn't turkey hunt but a couple of guys did. They were gobbling a lot, but not being very cooperative. LOTS of water to hang them up you know. But we had a blast. Come with us next time!

Many thanks to the group, I had a great weekend in the warmth of Georgia. I'm not sure if I'm sore from the walking, all the laughing around the fire, or the 24 hours of driving, but it sure is worth it. Great group of people, a real pleasure to be around.
