Title: Question about arrow spine
Post by: webb971 on March 28, 2019, 06:20:51 PM
I just got a Pronghorn longbow in that is 56#28". The only arrows I have are Gold Tip 500s that are 28 1/2". It's looking like they may be flying fine with 100 grain inserts and 150 grain points. Does this sound right. My draw is about 26 1/2".

Sounds about right to me.  Probably bare shaft tuning would indicate some minor adjustments to the 250 grains you have up front, but your setup should give you about 10 gpp, which is pretty much ideal.

Try one with a broad head it will let you know real quick.

I just helped a buddy tune last night. Get close with field points but I tune everything with broadheads. As stated, you'll know.

I got a 54# pch I shoot .500s with, I draw 27.5". 50gr insert with 200 gr point was the weight I needed and cut shaft as short as possible. Bareshaft was still showing weak. Started playing with a footer and a 3" footer got them flying perfecto! Had these shafts laying around for a good while and just wanted to finally use them. A .400 would have made life a lot easier for me
