For all you primitave bowyers here remember to start your hatchet bows early.
Hatchet, B-50 string, beeswax and a file to keep the hatchet sharp are the allowed materials.
You need to make a bow that will be judged to be sufficient to feed the family using those materials. No clamps, bench, vise, etc...hint: a stump makes a suitable "bench".
We use the honor system so work at home and the judging is Saturday afternoon at Mojam.
Another hint, try to have a backup entry in case your primary entry blows up while you are practicing with it before the contest...
No interest here yet eh...start early and start often. It is wise to have a "backup" entry.
At a boy Paul!! Get em stirred up. Dang I think my hatchet bow days are behind me, but maybe I can get Jason going on one.
Mike
Mike,
That would sure be keeping the "title" in the family if he won eh...?
I'm ponderin'. I've always wanted to make a primitive takedown. Doing it for the hatchet bow challenge is an interesting concept. I have ideas, just no time. We'll see. I'll for sure have something for the contest though.
