NICE!! I just did my first one this last weekend at OJAM. Still got some finishing touches. Like the snakeskin, want to do that with mine also. Very good job on that one. Good tillering also. How does she shoot? And what kind of skins are those?
Dang Bob! That is OUTSTANDING!!
You shouldn't be coming to me for help, I should be coming to you!!
Now we can just get together to shoot :bigsmyl:
By the way, this coming weekend is the turkey shoot at Geauga Bowmen. I'll be going Sunday, if you want to go, give me a call. I can give you directions if you want to go Saturday.
Very nice job on the bow.

Very nice!
Great Job! What kind of snakeskin is it?
thanks guys.4runr I was going to give you a call and let you know that I went ahead and made the bow.wasnt as hard as I thought.as far as the snake skin look I hand painted it.first I backed the bow with dry wall tape to give it the skin texture then I used powder colours, will pro and cheese cloth.I cut a small piece of the cheese cloth rolled it into a ball then I took my powder colours and put my finger in the powder colour I wanted and then I wet the cheese cloth with the will pro and wipe the powder off my finger to the cheese cloth and then onto the bow.as you can tell I am cheap and didnt want to spend money on snake skin.the bow shoots great and I am using arrows that are to heavy for the bow at 95to100 spine and the bow still shoots good with them cant wait to get lighter shafts to make up just for this bow.
Like I had said in my email, Very good job on that osage stave. Great looking bow. Maybe you could post a how-to on your fake snakeskin backing. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
I am going to try and make another bow out of locust for my cousin and when I get to the point were I am going to do the fake skin job I will take some pics and do a build along.good idea linc.
Very nice looking bow. Don't mean to jump your post but do you guys that shoot selfbows notice a lot of handshock? I have one I built out of osage and it feels like it is knocking out my fillings. I was turned off because of all the handshock. Any opinions on this?
it could be the way it is tillered.I made mine alittle stiff from mid limb out and it is smooth.I read that if the tips are thin you will get more hand shock.
thats a good on'e nice! :)
