I really enjoy seeing other folks' photos. What are your favorites? Here are a couple of mine. They've been posted before (and one is my avatar), but I like them. Now let's see some of yours and hear a little of the story behind them!

That was taken a couple years ago in NW Alaska on a caribou hunt with Bill Wright and Bill Guderly. Great trip, great guys. I built that little inukshuk on a ridge near our drop camp. It was a welcome sight several times while fumbling home in the fog/sleet/drizzle.

This is my son, Joe, at age six. I wanted to take a photo of him at full draw. I told him to pretend there was a mountain lion coming over our fence. He dropped his kiddy arrow with the plastic vanes, pulled a 2216 out of my quiver, drew back and said, "Now I'm ready." I believed him, too. :wavey: Big hogs, huge grasshoppers!
South Africa, Nov. 2005
When I returned from the days hunting I found this baby squirrel laying on my spare arrows! I had them placed on the desk besides my bed, so that feathers and honed broadheads wouldn't touch anything.
I tried to call his mother and placed him in the tree next to my Chalais. Next morning he was gone. Hours later the Squirrel gods paid back, when one appeared 3ft in front of my face, whilst I had already stood for over an hour behind some belly high brush, but otherwise in plain sight of 30 Impala only 40yrds away. Some does had nailed me by that time and now watched that squirrel closely examine the 'strange thing' (in predator camo) behind the brush. The little fellow was chewing heavily and flicking his tail, not sure what I was. For at least a minute he was 'thinking' but made no sound - and then he prepared to jump on my shoulder! Just before 'take off' he decided otherwise and left the scene to the side.
The Impalas had watched all that and were now calming down again, because their 'reconnaissance patrol' had signaled no alarm! I didn't got an arrow of though. Just to many eyes and me now unable to move without pain and cramps everywhere - from over an hour of 'freezing' ...

Couple of weeks after his 12th birthday, and the hunt was a present.
Great photos....great thread! Looking forward to contributing some of my own soon.
Getting to meet Ken Beck was a great day for me. Nineteen years ago when I started with traditional gear I didn't know a thing so I called down to Black Widow. They were a great help and I still appreciate the time spent on the phone with me.

A few years ago I went to Kansas to hunt really big bucks. I hunted a stand we called the tomestone. This was almost a mile from the nearest dirt road and over 12 miles from pavement. My stand was 400 yards behind this tree. I went back the week after Christmas 2007 and hunted this stand again. Walking in looking at crystal clear stars I walked to within a few feet of this tree in the pitch black.
I've always thought what a nice quiet spot to rest.

These three knives were made for me through another friend. The knife maker was and is a Thalidomide baby. For those not familier with this in the late 50's and 60's a drug thalidomide was given to thousands of pregnant women in Britain and the U.S.Thousands of babies were born with horrible birth defects mostly no arms. These knives were made by a man with no arms, made by his feet only true story. He hunts, fishes and drives his four wheeler.I gave the two deer handles to my sons-in-law and kept the other at my camp. When I start to complain about my problems I think of these knives and how lucky I am to be able to pull a bow.Kip (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/Kip_album/2007_0319Image0060.jpg) (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/Kip_album/2007_0319Image0059.jpg)
I took this pic of a British Columbia bear before I attempted a stalk on him. I did this in my sock feet. Yes the ground water is still cold in Canada in May..LOL I was able to get 18 steps and draw my recurve on him. Early in the trip and the guide told me that we didn't want this bear. Bears do get bigger the closer you get. Fun, and more fun...

How about a "COULD BE" traditional bowhunting photo - as in, it COULD BE if I COULD just draw a tag  Took this one last september. Not too uncommon to run across these in some of the spots I chase elk, and I WILL draw one day. OH, and so you know, the camera was not zoomed in. He was about fifteen yards.

Woody, Good to see your post. Yep that Inukshuk you built guided me back to camp often. Here is one Bill G took of me overlooking just a small part of our spectacular view.

This last one means a lot today. It is of me, my friend Bob and my very good buddy Fred Kasch. Fred is almost 95 years old and shoots a 45# selfbow, he took 3 animals in Africa about 3 years ago. For those that know Fred, he is not doing so hot right now. Any prayers would be appreciated. I love this guy like he was my own family. This was a happy and proud day for us. I hope we get to hunt together again soon.

I hunted for 3 years with a compund, never collected an animal. My second season with a longbow, I shot a button buck, no pictures taken unfortunatly. My second animal, my first Black Bear taken with my 21st Century constellation at about 8 yards. Ran straight up a tree after the shot, and dropped a minute or so later, no blood trail. The little guy in the pic is my nephew, he was only 3 in that pic, just turned 9 last month.
My buck from 2006. Taken with my Hoyt designed heritage longbow. Shot distance of about 10 yards. Poor hit, long recovery, full story coming in a future issue of TBM.

I took this picture last fall Salmon fishing along a river in northern Michigan. A couple of my buddies saw the snake actually stalk this frog. I came over to see what the commotion was about and the snake had ahold of the frog. At first he only had the frog by one toe, but he eventually worked him all the way down. I watched the whole thing. Definately one of the better pictures I've ever taken.

TexasBubba, can I make a special request? There's a photo your brother took of you slipping through a shallow creek bottom with trees arching overhead. You know the one? You posted it a year and a half ago, maybe... Would you mind posting that again if you can find it? In my mind's eye, it's a truly great one.

and one of son and gene at the show- Tyler still talks about meeting Gene and Barry and seeing Woody (he says- well not the real Woody cause he's at Gene's home where he is safe)- that's almost a direct quote from Gene to Tyler when Tyler asked if it was the real Woody. I have really enjoyed looking at this thread.
I thought I would share a few of my favorite outdoor pics.
I took this from a tree stand on part of the Missouri farm that we call the park.
Most of the other wooded parts have lotsa trash (vines, brambles and sticker bushes) to wade through. This place ...is just a walk in the park though. I forgot to tell ya...my Uncle Tony made a sign for this stand...he call's it two bucks. Named for the six and eight point I took out of it.
This is Countrygirl under Tom's sign in!
This is a really tall ladder stand I love to hunt from in the "big woods" at the Missouri farm. I took this pic of Tom the morning we packed the stands out. This is really a rifle stand...but I have killed a few does with a recurve from it. I hand a lock on stand up above the top platform. You can see forever from here! ;) You can stand or sit and not be seen by what is coming from your right side. It is usually surrounded by scrapes. Behind this stand is about 15 yards of Buck Brush and brambles till you get to a really steep ditch. We cross a huge field (one year it is soy next it is corm) to get to the ditch. The deer come up outta the ditch...they are smart..after a while the look to see if you are there...when you hear them coming up you have to keep saying in your head...Don't look! Don't look!
This is a picture of me in a tree in October 2003. Tom took it on my first deer hunt. I shot two button bucks and a doe from there.

Dad was an incomparable bowhunter and archer. He died last year suddenly, before he was able to take any game with his newest Widow.
Dad loved to sheep hunt in the Brooks Range in Alaska. He'd spend 2-3 weeks there, alone with God and his bow.
Dad bought a bow for each of the men in the family to pass on his lifelong heritage of archery. Each of us an archer, to each of us a Widow.
Thanks, Dad, for our archery heritage.

From the early '70s...
wish I had kept that Cherokee...early model.
That was a happy hunt for me with the Ben Pearson Hunter.
I had hunted the area the day before and left my Baker climbing stand at the base of the tree.
Came back that day with my skint up arms and chest. Remember those stands?
Anyway, I heard the deer approaching before I ever made it to the stand.
I froze and finally the deer came closer and was at the stand and I was about 15 yds. away.
Closed the deal... :archer:

Dad with alligator in 1958. The police later cited him with a $50 fine. He shot it at a local park. 65# Yew wood BB backed longbow. Police later took up a collection and raised $25 to pay half the fine. Dad called the desk clerk first before he went to shoot the gator to make sure it was legal. Officer on duty at the time was un-aware that gators were protected. Dad was wearing his work cloths because he went to shoot the gator on the way to work. Ya gotta kill 2 birds with one stone back then. Today too :D

Al, is there a story that goes with this pic?
Yeh mate, it was in TBM a few years ago now. Not sure on the issue but.
In a nut shell I was hunting Toomba back in Oz with my late mate Bill Baker in the off season at Christmas, it was the last day and I howled this fella (dingo)in whilst hunting chital deer.
First shot hit him through the hip joint as he was running, the 2nd ended his days.... as one can see. I was aiming at his chest but at the last minute he turned to bite off the arrow and the 2nd drove through his skull.
I hit him with a Ribtek (aussie head) and it never even looked like folding up.
Regards,
AK.
Good to see you on here, Al. Shoot me a PM, please -- there's no option in your profile to email you.
I've seen two shots like that on hogs (one was intentional) and neither worked. Very small statistical sample, but it seems hogs might have a thicker skull than dingos. ggg
That's a dingo! I gotcha now. I've never seen a dingo before, and I didn't bother looking at your profile. Didn't realize at first you're in Australia. It looks exactly like a dog. I thought it was a hunting accident.
The ultimate shot for a shooter. No season, No limit. 4 meters, split second timing. And this one had no suffering, munching on the vegetable garden.

"You can leave your hat on! (dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah)"... By the time my mate and I caught up to this fellow, after I'd hit him less than marvellously, it was too hot for him to run anymore, and I had to do some quick shooting to take him down before he came at us. It would've been a high-40s day, with really high humidity too, and trying to survive as well as take a photo presents challenges:

Amazing how well that donkey blends in. Wow.
Good pics Ben thanks mate... no place like home thats for sure.
I emailed you back KnifeRiver also.
