I am gonna make my new PTFX Widow Bacote into my bow fishing rig. I need some brass insert thingy;s for the reel mount. I think it will be awesome, the wife syas I am nuts! Shawn
Yeah...a tad bit...but after hosting such a big hunt a month or so ago, who wouldn't be a little nuts... :knothead: :knothead:
That is a beautiful bow to be drilling stuff into it...LOL
But of course like me I am sure you buy bows to "use" them. Let us see some pics when the conversion is complete.

Whoa!! Maybe you should think this over for a days/months. Think about how bad it's gonna hurt everytime you drop that beautiful bow in the bottom of the boat or worse yet in the water. :scared: Besides, do you really want to go drilling holes in that PTFX?
Why not go over to that famous auction site and pick up a $75 beater to shoot those 5yd shots at big ugly fish with. Trust me, you'll thank me later
Well it happens I had a Brackenberry go to the bottom of Texoma lake. Good luck hope yours dont die like mine did, Ican still here it screaming.
Yep, no doubt about it, you're crazy. It'll be the best looking bowfishing rig anyone's ever seen though! Mark
bows were made to use so use it those brass inserts are pretty nice looking installed correctly . go for it Shawn I think 3 rivers has those inserts you can buy I dont have anymore or would send them to ya .
I am stupid and sentimental, i would not drill holes in my Black Douglas
i would look for a beater or see if you can get another way of mounting without drilling.
They are built to use, drill acouple extra holes in it for the gipper :bigsmyl:
If you have to ask, then you already know the answer.
Blasphemy !
I like a man that ain't skeerd to drill a new Widow!!
How about the great northern strap on threaded mount. It has a brass insert without drilling.?
If you're gonna do it, use a good forstner bit, they cut clean holes.
Brass inserts are available at 3 Rivers.
You may want to cover the bow with tape when out fishing, will help protect it.
Dan
Check your email please sir. :wavey:
May want to think of the resale value if you drill it.See you post often on the classifieds.
Other options stated above would be my solution.
Go ahead. The brass insert will probably increase the value. Bows are made to shoot,no matter what brand they are. :archer: Have fun.
I Like It!!!!! :bigsmyl: Bowfishing with "CLASS"
Im not surprised in the least. What about that new rig ya just bought though?
just buy the strap on mount from 3 rivers and save that beutifull bow from the drill
Crazy or not? I vote...crazy!
Just wear your speedo widers sink faster than most!
I don't understand why it would be considered crazy? Go for it.
Go for it! Bows are made for shooting!
Bowfishing is a lot of good things but definitely wet and often times nasty. Doesn't take much of a bow/rig to shoot them with authority. 35-40# is plenty. Save your Widow.
Shawn....DO IT SON!!! DO IT!!!
Just use a drill press to get a straight hole in the riser.
I can't think of a better use for a Widow than to have holes drilled in it and to be bouncing around a boat and/or at the bottom of the river ;)
:biglaugh:
Did I miss the pics of your new bow??
I say go for it!! They make new bows every day!!
Better send me that bow for safe keeping.I'll keep it untill you get back on your meds.
 Wow, I can barely take nice bows out in the woods, much less bowfishing. . . :notworthy:
I have decided to stop messing around with trading and such. I shoot my RER Arroyo like there is no tomorrow!! I did just buy a new PSE Kingfisher for bowfishing and actually sold it to Marlk Fedrizzi and changed my mind, sent him is money back today!! I have decided to make this Widow my beater bow. I hope this cures me of my sickness!! I have decided to buy the strap on adapter though. I better kill some fish!!! :biglaugh: Shawn
I should add that the Kingfisher is staying put as it will be used in my Bunny Hunt raffle next year!! Shawn
Dern right Shawn,
You have inspired me! I'm heading out right now to put mud tires on my wife's Mercedes coupe.
Hope that works out for ya ...oh yeah ur nuts..LOL...No way nohow on that pretty bocote...id fine 50 dollar bear for fishing bow...you will have the coolest ...good luck buddy! Mark#78
If you are going to put a stabilizer insert in a new widow send it back to Black Widow and let them do it right. They do add factory bushings for free. Sent mine back for sight bushings and a plunger bushing. All it cost me was shipping. Factory installed bushings hurt the bows value less than if you do it yourself.
Crazy?
HEll yeah. You're crazy.
