Burning some crp and saw this from 100 yards. Parked the 4wheeler next to it for a size comparison ... (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190301/19ad94b9985c0335f0e06d254e6388a2.jpg)

That one will get your heart pumpin!
OMG, ya better get a camera on that area...
holy moly doughnut shop!
Have not seen a rub that big, except when done by Axis stag.
What? That little sapling! :biglaugh:
Are you sure you didn't hit the tree with the four wheeler, then take the picture after it was all scraped up?
Looks like a dandy. It would be neat to see what's doing that for sure!
I'd be afraid of that deer Kenny!
Probably a spike or forky that's really enthusiastic and licks windows too. Either way I'd have a stand there next season.

Hope I didn't miss that one when we were there!!!! (and that he's still roaming those parts!)

No chance of bear in your area? That thing must be part moose
Woah! Kenny, I hope you get a peek at the subject who vandalized your tree.
I suppose there is a chance of a black bear, but have never seen prints or had a pic of one. I figure the rub is too low for bear but no expert on bears (or anything else)...
I'm sure he has dropped antlers by now but will prob have a camera there next year if the landowner doesn't mind.
Wowser that is a nice one.
Wonder if it is a communal rub.
A few years back my brothers and I found a rub on a cedar tree that two of us could just barely reach around. Had scrapes all around it too. I have a pic somewhere of it if I can find it.

Could be more the truth than you know.
Many years ago after a fresh snow, I came across a steaming hot rub not much different than that on a 12" diameter Norway Pine on my Dad's place. The bark was absolutely shredded side to side and for about a foot up and down and fresh bark was all over on top of the new snow. There was only one set of tracks in the brand new snow, and knowing the landscape well, I took a guess at where the deer was heading and made a huge circle around to try to get ahead of it. I wasn't set up for more than a few minutes when along came this little 6 pt basket rack with about a 6" inside spread and main beam tips that came back almost together. I let him go by and after a while, when nothing else came along, I followed his tracks back....right to that tree. That's when I came to know that big rubs do not necessarily mean big bucks, just like small rubs don't necessarily mean a small buck.
nice, :bigsmyl: that will get you to thinking.
I think that is the deer version of anger management. :biglaugh:
Sign post rub. Community rub all the bucks around use. We have several on the 2000 acre lease I hunt. They'll use them year after year, until the tree dies.

Looks more like a bear territory marker.
I watched a little 3x3 rub a poplar tree about that big I was all excited about the rub and had a stand close . I think all the bucks in the area rubbed it when they went by probably had since the tree was small.
Usually a black bear would leave claw marks and bite marks too.
