This year's turkey hunting anticipation is on the rise. The last two seasons has been most disappointing. Birds on the farm during the KY season have been nonexistent. Had one gobble the season before last and had none gobbling last season and only saw one turkey track. The birds are here in moderate numbers throughout the summer, fall, winter and then disappear one to three weeks before the spring season. Am working with two different biologists to determine the cause and/or causes.
This year I have added three winter wheat food plots and a new clover mix food plot that I had planted on another property that has proven highly productive over the past two seasons.
I do not like to go to another property to pursue gobs even though I have. Even when I am successful in harvesting a gob elsewhere, I feel I have failed.
Am currently obtaining multiple and frequent pics of gobs and hens while 8 long beards are currently roosting on the sanctuary. Am hopeful that many of the birds are inclined to stay throughout the spring season. Since I have been seeing more and more birds this time of year than previously, my anticipation is much on the rise
I would suspect that many in our trad family all also getting amped.
Yeah I'm gettin ready too friend.....about to get a big new blind and gonna make some turkey targets to pin on the bale out back.

I've got a new place to hunt this season and it's loaded with birds. I'll probably only get a few days to hunt this season but even with the time constraints I feel like I've got a good chance. Will be shooting a WF19 riser with black max limbs and a string tracker screwed into the stabilizer hole.
I'm also getting pumped up for the turkey season here in Wis. Although the population has been in a slow decline here in my area of the state. Ill be hunting 3 different counties so Ill hopefully get some opportunities at some big gobblers this spring.
I believe any turkey hunter is getting itchy. They've been gobbling good but I haven't seen but a pic of one displaying yet. That's odd.
There's been a flock of 14 longbeards and a mixed flock of 24, 5 of em Jakes I've been seeing about every day. I watched em roost through binoculars tonight.
Getting time to start gathering info.
What I don't get is why does the op seem more determined to kill them on a farm than going to where they are? If they aren't here they're there.

I have my own place and have killed turkeys on it. But, I'm going to Nebraska the 1st week of April to get a jump on the season. I'll be far west looking for an adult Merriams. I killed a Jake Merriams on Fred Eichler's operation two years ago. I missed an Osceola the year before in FL.

Very cool. My buddy n I've been discussing it for a few years. I was sick but am on the mend so we're gonna start setting something up after this season. Merriam are great looking birds. Imo maybe the best. Good luck! . Post some pics if successful
