Anyone have experence wit this wood? Would it be good in a TD riser?
-
I have used it in risers for one piece longbows. It seems to be fairly strong as woods go.

I can't say I've ever used it for bows, but it makes a great looking turkey pot call. Just made one last week, and contemplated doing some laminating with other woods to get a riser.

Found a guy on the big auction site that has a lot of it.

What’s the big auction site? Is there a good one for lumber?

Fleabay, and some of that looks pretty good, but shipping was a bit high I thought....
-
Yeah it is. Finding out now if shipping can be combined.

I used it for a one piece 32#@ 28 recurve riser. It was light in weight but finished very nice. If I can find pictures I will post them later

Hey Stic, I used BL in the top part of a riser that held the inserts for the limbs for my son-in-laws recurve. It blew up in his face. In my opinion the BL is too soft to hold the insert. I won't use it again for that purpose.
With that said, I also used it in the belly side of the riser for my three piece longbow. I have been shooting it for years with no problems. I guess depends on where you use it. Beautiful wood.

So it needs an I beam for TD.
-
Yes, that would be safest. I will take a pic of blown riser tonight and post it for you to see what happened. I still have it.
