Hi all, I have had a ThunderMag and Thunderstick III for a while now and just love these bows. I know that Mr. Reynolds has "retired" from building these great bows (if you see him thank him for me on such a great bow). I was wondering if anyone else out there is building one close to it? I know he just seems to put a little magic in each one, and hand's down the best R/D bow I ever shot.
You are right and i will add that his MOAB is one of the finest limb designs i have shot. Holy smokes those are nice!
Had a TS III until it left my truck. Replaced with a MOAB. Loved the TS III and fell in love with the MOAB. All the R/D bows that are close; Morrison and Massey. [attachment=1,msg2851639] Tried them all and picked Thunderstick.
Jim Reynolds built some awesome bows . My 56" T.S. MAG is still my all time favorite :archer2:
My MOAB is one of my favorites. It is getting a rest now that I have a John McDonald Big River 21st Century clone and soon to arrive Kota. My problem is that I can only hunt/shoot one bow at a time. [attachment=1,msg2851655]
Well, the quest goes on, shot a few other ones over the time. I can not put my finger on it, but think his limb design and riser length equation is just perfect. "and the beat goes on", :shaka:
So I was just thinking about this very same thing the other day. I have around 40 traditional bows give or take at any one time and have owned hundreds over the last 30 years......but if I had to save just one from a fire, it would be my Thunderstick 3. It is simply THE easiest to tune and shoot bow of any design I have ever used. I find it telling that you almost never see them for sale. Mine is only about 41# at my draw length, and yet if I recall correctly, all the deer it has killed were pass throughs. I'd order another one in an instant if I could.

Just picked up my MOAB yesterday while doing some Covid19 cleaning and was amazed at how the grip molded into my hand. It's in semi-retirement. I'm in the boat with many others here that wished I had a couple more, especially a TD version. I recall that when I was replacing my TS III 62" Jim recommended the 60" MOAB over the 62" because he felt it had a little extra magic. Seems like most of the bows I have aren't being made any longer, so in case of a fire I'd have to grab them all!!!
:campfire: :knothead:
I've got a 58" T-Mag and a 64" Thunderstick III. Love them both!! Solid performers. The one that got away was the Ramhorn Jim built, 50's style one piece recurve. That was the bees knees. I will say I could never get used to the MOAB for some reason. Had a couple of them and they didn't make the cut.
Had a 58" Thunderstick Mag that was smooth and sweet, and awful pretty to boot. Don't know why I sold it.
I got done posting, and went out and shot 50 arrows though T3, then unstrung put it up. Love it and I know in my heart I will break it some how, and no back up.
Heaven forbid!!!
:campfire:
Would love to get a MOAB for my stable. Watching thread for close recommendations.
Have a 60" MOAB; If it was not for my Widow PSR the thunderstick would get more use.
Show off lol
Joshua mail it to me and I'll saw it the love it deserves.

Gotta love bow porn
It's a shame that no one has gotten the forms from Jim and started building these bows again,as they always have gotten great praise.Almost bought one years ago but got a Wes Wallace instead.Should have gotten both.Live and learn
Yes I agree, had few chances too, big mistake. Yes if a guy/gal made or got those forms, cha ching
Made the same mistake too. Should of bought one.
Hands down one of my all time favorite limb designs and bows. I have had 3 TS Mags and boy are they SWEET!
Only regret,......well one of several, is that I didn't get a TD version.

I didnt even know he made a takedown version. Now, really despressed
