Title: Best place for a SMALL piece of snakeskin?
Post by: Gdpolk on February 09, 2019, 08:51:13 PM
I'd like to wrap the carbon shaft on my 1-piece strap on quiver that connects the hood with the arrow gripper with a little copperhead, rattler, or something.  It wouldn't need to be long or wide for this application.

For arrow wraps you'll need thin skins like copperhead and others. IMO, rattlers are too thick and course for that application. Western or prairie rattlers might work but not the eastern varieties.

Good to know. I’ve never worked with snakeskins before. I’d just like to fancy up my quiver mostly because I can and I want to play with a new project.

The best place too find a small piece of snakeskin is on a small snake.

Sounds like a cool idea. Post some pictures when its done!

The courser skins would work for your quiver.

I'm pretty sure the snake knows the best place for it.

Yeah, but we don't always give them that option.  ;)

After we cut hay this summer I'll get in touch. I usually end up getting quite a few of them with the sickle mower, and they will be in real small pieces just like you wanted them.
