Can’t seem to find anyone who sells them. Any help would be appreciated or will I need to buy a chopper or burner to try them?
-
A chopper or burner would be your best bet. The good news is that if you use a chopper, it would work with both left and right wing feathers.

So I might be a little thick but why wouldn't a burner work with either wing feather?

I have not seen them sold commercially. I have made them using a feather burner. The nice thing about a burner is that you can make them any height/shape/length you like. And yes indeed the feather burner doesn't care whether they are left or right wing.
If shipping weren't outrageous you could just glue on the feathers and ship to me and I would burn them for you, but you'd have a good portion of the feather burner in shipping costs.
Best of luck.

Of course a burner would work with either, but choppers are left or right wing specific. The front and back of a banana cut are symmetrical.

Thank you for the offer and I appreciate the input.

See I said I was being thick. :biglaugh:

I like a low profile banana cut as well. I took my chopper and added a spacer to the desired height. Works great.

Do you buy the big banana feathers and chop them down or do you cut them from my a feather?
-
I chop them from full length feathers. Usually I get a 5in banana cut and a 4in parabolic from one feather.
-
Last question are bananas as easy to see as parabolic in flight?
-
I use a burner for mine. I like to be able to make them any size I want. Mine are currently about 4 1/2” long and 5/8 high. Quite a bit smaller than the bought ones but shoot the same with broadheads

Could you post a picture of your arrows?
-
I modified a banana chopper to make shorter fletching, they end up being 4 1/4" long and 3/4" tall. I also burn them sometimes. I think they are more visable than parabolics.
here is some pictures.

Man those look fantastic! Not sure why I like the look of bananas so much but to me they are the best looking fletching shape out there.
-
I took a Lil Chopper and modified it for a lower cut. Years ago you could order the chopper your way from orginal owner. I had a 3 inch chopper made. They worked well for my wife’s arrows. Sadly I let someone talk me out of that chopper.
I now have the Vario chopper. I wanted a parabolic cut but it’s more banana shaped. Works great and you can see feathers in flight but IMO seeing the feathers has more to do with the color of the feathers and lighting conditions. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Wanted to try them before I bought a chopper, and I have some on the way from feathers by the dozen. Thank you guys for the comments.
-
Noticed 3 rivers shows low profile banana but doesn’t show it as an option when I try to order.
-
I know that the Lil Choppers come in both left and right. Due to that I guess it only makes sense that people presume you need one of each in order to do both LW and RW feathers. My experience is that is not the case. Yes the curvature of the feather is opposed so that when you put them on the chopper they are different ( one will curve up and one will curve down, but the profile remains the same.
You don't need both to do LW and RW feathers.

Got some from feathers by the dozen, and he did a great job. Highly recommend them.

Yep select universal (banana) on the first bar and low profile on the second. Easy!

Not only does a burner do left and right with bananas it does left and right with any cut. Also allows you to shape and burn ANY pattern you want to try.

you might want to look at fletching templates

I also get mine from ( Feathers by the dozen ) great guy to do business with ! I like using the 4" low profile bananas and I do the 4 fletch.

Very pleased with how they came out. Fly like darts and the low profile banana is quieter than parabolic. Shot them side by side. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

can we please see some more photos of the low profile banana cut feathers 4"or 5" ?

Here you go Brandon. My high tech modification. Used part of a old yard stick to raise the bottom of the jig. The metal piece is what came on it. Hope this helps.[attachment=1 :
