I just finished going over my gear-- screwing on broadheads, checking that my camo is weather-appropriate, filling my daypack with turkey calls and decoys, etc. Now I'm so excited, I don't think I can sleep!
Kansas has an archery-only season that lasts one week before shotgunners hit the woods. My wife and I can't go opening day (tomorrow), but we'll be ready for a quick hunt Wed evening-- the babysitter is already lined up!
Anybody else planning on taking to the turkey-woods this week? :)
Bronz I did last saturday and killed a 23 pounder merriam with a 10 inch beard.what a rush.
Now I'm the one who's envious. This is the final weekend for Florida and only two weeks left in Georgia.
Oh well...the hogs will fill in nicely for awhile.
I've been chasin them around the LA swamps for over a week. Several close calls but no arrows flung yet. I've got an open invite to head to Kansas but don't know if I can get the time free to go. Good luck.
I have to wait until Sunday but really looking forward to the next two months. Gobblers, crappie, and morels. I love spring time!
I'll be out Wensday morning. I was going to go out this morning, but with this cool front that pushed in and I had to take one of the kids to school today.
I can't make it during the week but my son and I will be hard at it this weekend.
Well, it's only 32 days to the turkey opener here in NH. I'll be shooting some practice this morning. But first I decided to check out my equipment for getting around in the woods this year:

If you look closely, you'll see my principal shooting lane just to the right of center. The block and the three hay bales are back there "somewhere." (Grateful to the wheelbow guys. If they weren't around, there wouldn't be enough business to keep the local shop open with its indoor range. :archer: )
Been hunting them for 2 weeks with 4 weeks left.Definately be time to recharge the batteries after the season is over.Very little sleep for a month and a half will do strange things to you.............................
Season opened last weekend by this Saturday will be my first hunt. Set up some natural blinds a few weeks ago and saw several toms. Can't wait!
My season opens on the 21st of April here in Michigan. It can't get here fast enough. I keep seeing the birds strutting in the fields on nice sunny days!!
28th here in MA...
Opened today in the central / northern part of SC, foggy, wet, skitters ate me up, and narry a bird opened his mouth. I will have some bug spray tomorrow.
Biggie..."only two weeks left in GA"???? It's OK for you to quit early and leave some for the rest of us.
Went out this morning...Nice Rio Grande Tom in the freezer!!!
20 days to go till MO opens. But I get to take my daughter(s) out on 4/12-13 for youth season. :)
I have to wait until May...
Went out this morning had 5 gobblers talking trash, but none took the bait. I will try again on friday.
All geared up and ready to go. I will have my step son and my nephew out for the youth opener on April 12 and 13, but have to wait til the 15th for general season.
I bought a new decoy from this outfit: www.davesmithdecoys.com (http://www.davesmithdecoys.com)
Good luck to all.
