Anybody Own a Northern Mist Skanee Longbow, looked all over cant find a single Picture
-
I have a buddy picking one up at the Expo in Kalamazoo the end of the month, hope Steve has a couple there I'm very interested in one myself. I'm sure if you called and talked with Steve he could get some pictures to you, and give you a pretty good run down on it. He's always willing to talk with anyone who calls him no matter how busy he is. He's a great guy to deal with.

I think it has the same limb profile as the Baraga. The Baraga is an awesome bow. As said, Steve is a great guy and an exceptional bowyer. i got his new Sprague model today.

I own not a Swanee but a Witbeck 3pc longbow. I believe the difference is the riser only; but could be wrong. The Skanee is attempting to give you more of a recurve handle with a D profile longbow.
I really dig my Witbeck.
Do a goggle search and you should see at least 1 image of a Skanee. And of course contact Steve, he is easy to talk to.

Steve offers the Skanee with a recurve style riser or longbow style, and I believe he has changed the limb to riser fit/design, a little from the Whitbeck.

The Witbeck has a profile of a Baraga/Superior, the r/d is milder than the Skanee. The Skanee has more aggressive r/d.
-
The Skanee has a more hybrid limb design than the witbeck. The witbeck has the same limb design as the Superior. By far the quietest takedown you'll shoot and they are very fast. Steve is delivering a skanee at KZoo and will have another with him that has 2 limb options if someone prefers a certain weight over the other.

This is from the Northern Mist website......

JR, you are right about the Whitbeck being super quiet and very fast. Every time I shoot it I am impressed.
-
You would be amazed by a skanee, Joe
-
JR, what does the strung profile look like in the Skanee? The witbeck strings up to a true D shape.
-
You can definitely tell a skanee is a hybrid when strung. It does not have a D profile. Almost that straight limb when strung look. I'll try to get some pics in the next couple of days of the one he's taking to Kzoo

I picked one up used like new a few weeks ago. All Michigan woods.Black Walnut riser and red elm limbs with antler tips 64 amo and 49 at 28. Really quiet and seems to like heavy arrows. Planning on heading to kzoo Friday to see Barry Wensels seminar and put a few bows on Lonnies table. I would post pics of my skanee but don't have a clue how to load them on here. I can send some to a cell phone if anyone is interested.

All of my Northern Mist bows like a heavier arrow, I looking forward to getting a Skanee in my hands this weekend, and shooting it. Not sure if I’ll make it out of there without ordering one!!!

I recently acquired a Skanee, what a great bow!! The riser is really nice and slender, so it has just enough mass without feeling clunky. Mine is 66" and shoots like a dream, super quiet, and quick even with a heavy arrow. You rarely see these come up for sale if ever. I think I know the reason now. Two thumbs up. This and my Stickflinger are my two favorite 3pc LBs to date.

The Witbeck is a 3 piece version of the baraga/superior. It has the same limb design.
The Skanee is it's own bow. No other Northern Mist has those limbs. They're great bows.

JR, sure enough I studied some pics of some strung Baragas and Superiors and compared them to my Skanee and I stand corrected. The Skanee is more radical indeed. I am having a grand time shooting it. It is my new 3D bow of choice.
