The man who taught be the in's and out's of barebow shooting shot one of those. They were/still are great shooters.

You mean to tell me they were shooting metal riser bows, back when it was just archery and not trad?

Love it, George....    I've been trying them... it's mind expansion without drugs  :^)  I've decided I have a split personality... I shoot Hills off the shelf with wood arrows, bow canted trad style.  i shoot recurves with a raised rest and carbons, bow vertical.   Didn't even realize I was shooting them differently until yesterday, when I noticed.  As I told someone else today who was worried about the "tradness" of limb protectors, it's a matter of whatever twangs your string...

See the crossbow at the bottom of the page of the above post, it was advertised as early as 1950,

This is in August of 1950 American rifle, that crossbow is on the front cover !

They started deluding archery early

Jason's got it right!! At least they put it in the Rifleman magazine instead of trying to pass it off as archery!
