Well....lets see them....
Also feel free to start your own hunt thread if you like and share in your own style has this thread is not a request not start your own thread or deter that in any fashion. This is just a supplement thread for everyone's enjoyment as we did in years past...and add your pics to the Highlights 2019 Forum(soon as I get it set up).

Shot this.mature buck a few days ago
-
Got this pig yesterday morning!!!! Had 4 come in before it was light enough to see them good. They stayed around till there was just enough light for me to get a shot off. She was quartered away, and only made it 20yds from where she was shot!

Strong work, Bisch. Hogs have been leaving me alone since the end of September. I am enjoying the break, lol.
-
Got off work too late to hunt. But had enough time for about a 20 min drive around. Spotted this guy just across the fence from property I can hunt. I wondered where he had been hiding. Hopefully he can dodge the smoke poles the next few days.

Tried out the asat leafy tonite. Set up where I was wide open from the trail I was watching. A small tree and a bit of brush behind me.
Had eight turkeys go by at 35 yards , and at near dark a small buck came down trail as planned..
The wind had stalled out and thermals were taking my scent toward the ditch I was by.
The buck went thru my first lane and locked up about where I figured the scent stream was. He instantly looked at me from 12 yds for a few seconds and busted back the way he came 25 yards . Then stood there for a bit.
So my test was inconclusive , I really wanted a long nosed doe to come thru while I had the wind in my favor but wasn’t to be ...

Today is the last day of the general season here in Tx. I sat in a blind near the house just to see what’s coming around, and not expecting to shoot anything. I saw 5 smaller bucks and a doe. Then, I had a beautiful 12pt with split G-2’s come in. This is the first time I have seen him in person, and up close. He is an awesome looking buck, but young still, and spindly horned. This being the last day he can legally be shot, I crossed my fingers and am hoping he makes thru to next year!

First significant snow of the th year. So quiet and peaceful. Like climbing into a little piece of heaven

I chose the blind tonight. I’ve seen deer here a few times this year. The wind isn’t exactly what I’d like but it’s not terrible. It’s really putting her down outside.

Hope you had better luck than me Mike. Saw one doe and little one. No shot.
I will try again tomorrow.

Had a group of 4 doe just out of range. Like you Brad tomorrow’s a new day.

I tend to hunt out of a blind more these days. It's easier to hide movement and if it's one of my shell blinds scent is contained well until you open the window. Even pop ups make it a more comfortable sit out of the wind.
However there is something about an open air stand. Sat in a tripod last Sunday morning. A doe came in behind me. Alone with no fawn and good sized. She was directly downwind at one point and on a small swell and I was concerned she would wind me. She stuck her nose up and sniffed several times and the tripod I was in put me only about 3 feet higher than her nose. Either I as fortunate or my scent control was good enough for the situation because she didn't spook.
She took a trail around the oak trees my stand is in. With the leaves down the cover is minimal so I drew when she was in the thickest area and held until she came into a basketball size hole in the limbs. I gave her a soft grunt and she stopped perfect. I bore down and the string slipped off my fingers.
I love watching the arrow fly and hit true but at 10 yards it was there fast and cracked hard breaking ribs and the backside of the off shoulder blade.
As she ran I knew the shot was a tad high but lethal as she was running through the brush not on the trail. I saw the lighted nock stop out there about 100 yards through the limbs of the tree in front of me then disappear.
I gave it the 30 minutes of wait more because of the need to let the adrenaline calm down and I was hoping to see another one or a pig as it was only 7:24am when I shot.
The blood trail was easy and the end was sweet. This is only the second deer I've taken off of the land we bought near Abilene.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190113/8289d02b2c774f9df3c51b425ac265cb.jpg)

My deer season ended last Sunday. I got to use the 56” Timberhawk Talon premier I traded for a couple times. Shoots pretty good for me! This was my last sit. First season in forever I haven’t tagged a whitetail. Had two chances I flubbed and let some walk. Just got some new Talon small game heads though and I’m ready for some small game action! My favorite!

After the big snow ended last nite, I went about noon to where I got the buck a couple weeks back. The amount of deer tracks was unbelievable . Just from after the snow ended til noonish today.
So I went back in early and got set up. For 3 hours I saw birds and squirrels.
At last minutes of light a doe came but wouldn’t commit to coming thru fence.
Great eve to be out the, nice steady light wind, snow cover , and one deer that must have been too tired to make it to the fence if she made all those gazillion tracks ...

Congratulations Gary!

Very cool encounter tonight!!!
We received about 5-6” of fresh powder last night. I had obligations, so couldn’t hunt til the last couple hours of the day. Temps were in the teens with 15mph winds, so I wasn’t in a big hurry to get in a tree stand. Decided to still hunt my way to a spot where I could overlook a big hollow for a bit before going to stand. As I crept to the edge, I spotted one of the bucks I’ve been after. A very large framed nine point with a couple kickers.
He was at about 80yds and with a doe. The woods were pretty open, so I knew there was no chance for a stalk. She led him deeper to about 100yds, so I just sat and watched. A small forky came in and the ten ran him off. As I sat and watched I couldn’t believe when the buck mounted the doe. I have never witnessed breeding activity this late in the year.
I’d been watching these deer for nearly an hour with a very borderline wind. After doing the deed, the doe closed in to about 60yds and caught my scent. She took off and took the buck and three other deer that had been hiding in the hollow with her.
So many emotions wrapped up in one hunt.

Had a good night last night. The cold and new snowfall had the deer up early. Two big doe came passed about 4:40 the biggest of the two gave me an opportunity. She was quartered away at about 12 yards. The hit looked a tad farther back than I wanted so I left her till this morning. My concerns weren’t needed. The trail was easy and she only went 75 yards all down hill. The 0 degree temperatures last night made for and interesting skinning job this morning. The bow is 51#at 27”, 340 axis and single beveled Centaur Battle axe.

Nice Mike.

The truck had -4 when I started it. But the wife she she had 0 all I know it was frosty out.
-
Last night it warmed up to 9degrees. I opted for a pop up blind. I should have chosen that the night before. Negative wind chills are hard to handle in a stand.
-
After sitting in the blind for about an hour and a half. I hear the crunching of snow coming in from behind me. Three yearlings show up. Two were very obvious button bucks with about an inch of antler showing. The third one I could not see bumps on the head so I target that deer. It stops at twelve yards and turns quartering away. I draw my bow back hitting anchor. I find my gap. I let the arrow rip. The deer jumps string but I still get a good solid chest shot. I hear running for a few seconds then crash. When I get out of the blind and walk over to the location of the shot. I look towards where I hear the crash and I see a brown looking log with red bubbles coming out of it. I walk over and find this.
-
A cleaned up picture. Gear if anyone cares. 5 layers of wool on the top and a goose down vest in between. Carharts flannel lined pants and insulated coveralls. Since it was very cold I choose to use my light bow a Hoyt satori 55lbs at my 31.5" draw. Full-length Easton axis 340 with brass insert and a muzzy125 grain three blade with 4 five inch feathers fluorescent yellow. It turned out to be a button buck after all.
-
Congratulations Eric and Mike way to hang in there :notworthy:

A swing and a miss tonight. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Shot right under this guy tonight.
Last light with three other deer around. Pretty sure I short stroked it. Couldn’t adjust my stance and my elbow was hitting the tree. Even if I don’t get another shot, I hope he doesn’t leave the area. Would love to have his sheds.

It is real distracting when your elbow comes up against something...
Hope you get to see him again!!

Thanks guys. I can’t spare the time to sit around and feel sorry for myself. Pulled cards today just out of curiosity. That big eight was back in there 4-5 hours later. So he must not be spooked too bad. But I also have a plan B. Plan B is actually bigger. The only reason he is plan B is because the other buck showed himself first :biglaugh:
By the way.....I was there when this pic was taken. Like a dummy, I didn’t take my bow with me to check cameras. Luckily I spotted him first and backed out undetected. By the time I went to the truck and got the bow, he was gone.

Nothing going on here except small game. They’re winning and I’m down an arrow with more sure to come since the ground is solid again. Hard to stalk with it so crunchy though!
