Christmas Break is almost upon us and my student will be taking a break from his bow. Now it is my turn. I have always wanted to build a 58" Bingham Pronounced Longbow. So, here we go!!! Zebra wood limbs with an Actionboo Core.

I have built three of those years ago. Are they still using two tapers with one reversed = parallel. That is a good design.
-
I like the looks of that!
-
Limb #1 in the form. To the heat box. I will take it out after my basketball game tonight.

That riser is so darn sweet...

Thank you Roy. I have had a change of heart and have decided not to keep this bow for myself. I'm going to get as much done as I can in the next 3 days, without hurrying too much, and I am going to give this bow to my Son as a late Christmas present.

First limb out of the form and roughed down to shape. Do any of you guys put your tip overlays on prior to cutting string grooves? Just seems like it would be easier to me. Any advice??

I put my overlays on first. Otherwise it’s like doing it twice.
I cut light groove across top, then sides. I think it’s easier to make everything line up that way.
-
What Bvas said. And pre shape the fade part first also.
-
Limbs cut, drilled and mounted on the riser.

Looks nice! What wood are your wedges and overlays? Nice combo!

Wedges are Wenge. Overlays are Wenge, Cocobolo and Curly Maple.

Lookin real nice 👍

String Grooves cut and Strung the bow today! Took a couple shots outside the shop. Shoots where you look!!! Put it on the scale. Came in a little heavy. 57 @ 28" I still have to do some clean up and final sanding. Hopefully I can get it to shed a couple pounds.

I have lost as much as 4 lbs. with a major corner rounding. I hold a flat block with 40 grit at 45 degrees on the corners . same number strokes on each corner. Then finish sand.
-
Finally got to spray the finish on her. Hopefully it is dry enough to give to him tomorrow.

Hey Ron did you get those riser bolt inserts from Binghams?
-
Mike,
I got the riser inserts from a friend of mine who has been so generous to my high school classes. He has given me riser material, lamination, a drilling jig and all of his forms. I cant say enough about him for all he has done. He is a member here. Attached is a thread about his drilling jig and the inserts. His contact info is included in the you tube clip that is embedded..

He is a great gut and a great product.

That’s a really nice bow. Zebra is one of my favourites.

-
Nice job great present. I like the short riser.
-
Well done!
-
Handsome looking bow there, Coach...
-
The bow looks great!
As a humorous aside, I see that mismatched vinyl floor tile seems to be a universal design theme in all American public schools. :biglaugh:
It's exactly the same where I work.
-
You are right you are right C. Johnson. Just replace broken tiles with whatever color you have at the time on hand. Just what we have to do without any money. Illinois is particularly bad about funding for schools.
