Post by: anchorman on December 14, 2018, 03:20:43 PM
I realize lot of variables involved but I've been shooting carbons out if my longbow and now wanting to shoot woods..is there a rule of thumb on spine? Right now shooting 400 spine gold tips...53lb at 28 inch weight I have little over 27 almost 27 1/2 inch draw shoot 145 points I'm thinking 55 60 woods as I use d97 string and its cut past center...I could use some advice ..thanks

You'll get better responses on equipment related questions in PowWow.

For my 2 cents worth, you're drawing about 51# in a longbow cut past center.  I would guess woodies in the 50-55# spine group, although if you have a high performance bow, 55-60# might work better.  If you're serious about this, you might want to try both, or else start with 55-60#, but leave them long and cut back a little at a time until they are flying like you want them to.
