Evening TG.
Going to be buying a Black Widow hopefully this summer, curious to see what you all are shooting, and why.
I'm a big takedown recurve fan, not sure what model that is for the Widows but would love to see yours!
Can't help you much...but, my good buddy has a PSA Greenleaf 60", 29" draw and just loves his. Good luck.
I have owned both the PSA and PCH and personally I liked the PCH better. I will say the PCH had a low wrist grip whereas the PSA was the standard grip and for me I liked the low much better. I recently sold the PCH in a weak moment but I will have another one day.
I'm a fan of 50's style recurves and I shoot a PSR so no help from me either.
PCH for takedown, KB for one piece. Smoooooooth... :goldtooth:
I like the PMA. It has a larger open sight window than the other models and with a larger riser offers slightly more mass weight.
I loved the old MA BW bows, I have owned many of the other models but the MA was my favorite, of course not comparing it to a BW LB, that's another story altogether. I had a wonderful smooth drawing MAII that I killed many a critter with until my old bones could not handle the weight. I'm sure it's still doing a fine job for it's new owner.
Go to Black Widow's factory/office/store, they have lots of bows you can shoot to try out, It is worth the trip if you are not sure what you want. Shot and compare.

You can call and discuss with Roger or Toby. They will be able to make a good suggestion, then do a test drive.
I like the PCH short riser with long limbs makes it smooth.

I recently acquired a used 60" PCH, and have been very impressed. Owned a PSA, and wish I had never sold it. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of there models. Try to get your hands on a few and see what fits you the best. I'm sure one model will jump out over the rest.
Mine's a one-piece PL so I can't help you.
I have owned a 58" PCH that was 55# at my 29" draw. Great bows. A short recurve can't get any better. With that being the case, when finances needed liquidating my 62" PMA (same draw weight) stayed and the short bow paid for my brakes/transmission service. When in doubt, buy a used one close to the specs you like. If you fall out of love with that bow it isn't hard to get most if not all of your money back when it gets sold again.
I have had a few, my favorite was an older MA should have never sold it. PSA had a couple, have shot a bunch of PCH and like them, just picked a PSA Greenleaf.......we haven't become friends yet. Great bows and the best thing is the customer service.......outstanding !!!!!!
I just sold a PSA I liked well enough. Cut 3/16ths past center you can shoot a little heavier spine and it makes it quiet and shock free.

I have shot several most with draw weights of 50-60@28 and arrows access of 600gr and they shot very very well I am convinced I will buy a new PSR at Kalamazoo in January

Whoops wrong post but I really like the PSR very nice bow
I had a 50lb at 28, 58 inch pch that I bought new. Really nice bow but just couldn't get use to the grip. It was fairly quiet and was really smooth. Only thing I could complain about is the glass on the limb developed a blemished which happens I guess. This occurred the first month of shooting it. Just doesn't make you happy when you spend that much on a bow.
I have a PMA and absolutely love it! It will never leave!
I have a 55# PMA 3 and I absolutely love it. Its such a smooth shooter because of a little more weight in the riser. its great to shoot from the ground and in the treestand also. It has a high wrist grip which is really comfortable. I dont think anyone can offer me enough money for me to ever let it go.
I've owned PCH -56", PSA-58", and PA - 58 or 60?.
Oddly enough, the one I can't remember the exact length, the PA was by far my favorite. Mostly aesthetics. Love the grace of that bow. In fact, it is the only bow I ever bought after seeing a father and son elk hunt where Dad was using a PA. Went to the phone and found just what I was looking for as a "try-out" bow. Got it, shot it, and within an hour had it bought.
Someone else is enjoying that beauty now though. I'm a bigger fan of Blacktail T2s. At the moment though shooting new Black Wolf by TT (ILF all carbon riser)... absolutely love it!
Anybody want to post up pictures of their Widows? My brother in law grew up in Nixa which is I believe where BW is located-going to get down there in the spring to shoot a few I think
I like the MA in the heaviest woods available.
I had owned several bows and found predator bows to shoot well for me so I ordered a PMA, which is the closest to the Predator, worked great and love the PMA, my favorite bow for sure.
Purchased a PSA later and it shoots about the same but I shoot better with the PMA.
I only shoot those two widows now but the point is, shoot the bow that is close to what you like, hopefully you have an idea.
Making a road trip down there would be the thing to do if you have the time. All the talking and picture viewing in the world won't come close to having a whole wall full of them to shoot and find what speaks to you. Plan on being there for a couple of days so you aren't rushed.
I've owned both the 58 inch KB and the 56 inch PSR recurve models - both good shooting bows. I've transitioned to shooting longbows so if I were buying another one it would be the PL longbow.
I should be about 28" or so, thinking I'm just gonna go 50# @ my draw length for a more enjoyable experience when shooting, combined with a reasonably heavy arrow will be more than enough for whitetails.
Thinking PMA takedown!
With those specs, there should be quite a few already hanging on the wall there for you to choose from.
I absolutely love my PCH! I thought I wanted a longbow until I went to the shop to shoot some bows. I freaking love this bow... I've not regretted it for a single second! Man that's a good looking PCH :notworthy:
When I first got back shooting traditional bea my dream now was a PSR. Unfortunately they don't cut the risers past center. I prefer an eighth past.

Going to make it down to Nixa the next time I'm in the area after catching a baseball game!
PMA, I prefer a longer bow. BW Attends ETAR in Penn. You can try any of their bows. Maybe closer for you.
PSA for me. Owned a PCH for a while, it was a fine bow but I shoot the PSA better. I've owned a few widows and have been happy with them all, but the PSA with standard grip just suites me best. I'd suggest trying a few if possible as I also feel the standard grip shoots best for me.
I have a PSA in camo wood grain 50# @ 28. LOVE it!!!!! :archer:

PSRX
KBX and PLX for me. I love them all though. I shoot longbows slightly better for some reason. I'm sure it's the grip. [attachment=1,msg2859834][attachment=2,msg2859834]

Do yourself a favor if your are on the fence do a testdrive I have shot both the PSA and the PMA For me I am on order for the PMA i like the longer riser and site window ....i am so excited and you cant or will ever beat the customer service from blackwidow that goes a long way with me along with the craftsmanship ...keep the pics coming fellas!!
I've owned 3 PLs,a TF ,a PSA,a PSR, and a MA. I shot the MA the best, truly loved that bow, but needed to drop poundage and had to let her go. If I was to get another BW it would be a PMA.
Ive owned PMA, PSA, MA 1 piece and PSR. The PMA and MA where my best BWs.
Thanks for all the replies gents.
Wondering what people are getting as far as performance goes? I like to shoot 10 gpp and would be around 28" draw. Having trouble deciding between 45-55# of draw.
I am in Iowa for the time being, but my wife and I eventually would like to get back to Montana, could always buy heavier limbs down the road.
I always shot heavy arrows, but never shot threw any chronograph.
